I just got my hands on Runner Havens the other day, and I noticed something...all of the comments and stuff are from Fastjack's board, Jackpoint. No Shadowland, no Captain Chaos...what gives? Did something happen to him in the Crash? I don't see him in the core book either.

You really need to read
System Failure.
Seriously. To say that third edition went out with a bang is an understatement. Crash 2.0 changed everything.
=)

Huh. They killed off Captain Chaos? I always figured he was untouchable, hiding out in some bunker somewhere. And in SR4, they say that Shadowland was protected by some kind of backup. How did he die?

Spoilered in case anyone is running the System Failure runs.
[ Spoiler ]
He went down trying to protect Shadowland from a really nasty Matrix Virus, was backed up by the JackBNimble program, then deleted when he became aware of his situation

'Twasn't.
They could also bring him back as a amnesiac Free Spirit and have him possess a cyberzombie.
Although, in the Captain's case it would probably be better to have him be an Amnesiac Free Sprite possessing Johnny Five.

Would it be redundant for me to quote "O Captain! My Captain!" here? I suppose it is...
Aw, to hell with it! I'll do it anyway!
QUOTE (Walt Whitman) |
O CAPTAIN! my Captain! our fearful trip is done; The ship has weather’d every rack, the prize we sought is won; The port is near, the bells I hear, the people all exulting, While follow eyes the steady keel, the vessel grim and daring: But O heart! heart! heart! O the bleeding drops of red, Where on the deck my Captain lies, Fallen cold and dead. |

Not actually deleting him would be less of a sucker punch than "Err, he comes back as a GHOOOOOOST!"

I'll give Ricky Ratboy and Lucien Cross a call, we can make it a road trip out of it. Sure it'd be faster to get there taking a plane, but last I talked to Lucien he said something about a new aversion to flying.

Hmm, there's a mention in Runner Havens I think about a group of Technomancer's practically worshiping someone/something they call "The Captain".
