Full Version: Monowire clarification

I was wondering if monowire could cut through another piece of monowire? There are some rappeling gloves used to handle microwire that cannot be cut through, but do they work against monowire fences and trip wires? Do they work against monofilament whips? If I got a monowire weave or overlay on my armor and clothing, would I be hurt by a monofilament whip or monowire at all? And if I could, how much would you say it costs? Those gloves cost just 70 nuyen.gif and probably cover the same area as welding or ski gloves so what would be a good cost for an armor jacket or an urban explorer jumpsuit? I'm thinking probably around 50 nuyen.gif per armor point, does that sound reasonable?

I remember reading something about weaves and fabrics that resisted monowire, but I can't remember where I found it. Mostly used for scarves that protect you from mono-garrote.

Yeah, Samael's right. You can get monowire weaves that go in fabrics and armour to give you resistance.

Your house rule seems about right as far as prices go.

I would go with a percentage increase in cost. Maybe +50%. If you have this option installed, your ormor ignores the AP of monofilament weapons (or provides +4 armor versus monofilament weapons without AP).

This way, for 1,350 nuyen (900+450) you can get an Armor jacket that protects you well against monofilament attacks, which may have a visible mesh pattern, or you can shell out 2,250 nuyen (1,500+750) for Actioneer Business Clothes which are indistinguishable from the standard variety.

This breaks down with security armor which is fine if it's obvious but you're still paying alot (+3,000!) for a fixed bonus.

WhiskeyMac's suggestion has a similar problem, but it's less pronounced (+300 for a jacket, +400 for full armor). However, I believe he intends for the armor to provide immunity to monofilament attacks, in which case Armored Clothing would be the perfect anti-monofilament armor (0 Impact armor so 0 cost)

I suppose the best solution would be a flat charge for monofilament protection. Somewhere around +300-500 nuyen is probably most appropriate. (Again, negating the AP of monofilament weapons)

Sorry for the rambling.
