I was just wondering what, if any, information was out there on gene splicing (or recombining/manipulation; however you wanna put adding genes of various things together)? Has it been mentioned in any SR3 material? And if so, what books?
I just have a crazy idea that is a little Jurassic Park and a little TMNT. This was a little inspired by reading the Maximum Ride books by James Patterson, which is a pretty good series so far. Just wondering if I have anything canon to work off of or if "GM's decision" will have to do. For a little clarification to help the hunt, has Shadowrun done anything with making mutants, ala TMNT, or combining animal (para or normal) and human DNA/RNA to make a hybrid human?

Check out SURGE in 'Year of the Comet', you can always use those to simulate or be the effects of gene-splicing.

i remember reading some genetech stuff... probably there is more in one of the SOTA books, but i think man and machine had some gene treatments and such.

All of the gene stuff in SR3 was in SOTA 2063, I think, although I never did see a copy of Man & Machine.

Yeah, one of the SOTA books had stuff on Gene Tech.
It had stuff on genetic correction, augmented healing, cellular healing, age rejuvination, phenotype alteration (Ranging from changing eye/hair colour, Increasing Bod/Qck/Str +1 to racial modified limit, to things not normally found on any metatypes), environmental microadaption, Direct Protein Synthesis, DNA masking, and Genetic Immunization.
How that works now that SR4 is out, I don't know. You will probably have to wait until Augmentation is out.

...That would be SOTA 2063.
SOTA 2064 had a section on genetic design.

This is an issue with a wholesale rewrite of a system. Things that characters once took for granted suddenly don't exist until the new sourcebooks come out.
