Wounded Ronin

A short while ago I remember there was a discussion regarding SR concept art. In SR2 there were a lot of metas in leathers (that had codpieces) with Bladerunner esque urban sprawl and then with SR3+ you started to get less of that specifically. That was the gist of the discussion, anyway.
This had me reflect on how leathers (with codpieces) and long coats with gigantic collars are really a big part of that whole 80s cyberpunk look and feel. The obvious example of Blade Runner, but I remember how even in Rise of The Dragon, which was an adventure game, the protagonist went around in a brown trenchcoat with a gigantic collar. (And could be arrested for going outside in his underwear, which was awesome.) Nothing gets more period Hollywood in my book than a giant animatronic troll wearing leathers with a codpiece. That's almost Total Recall right there.
Hell, man, even mondo pistols (9M) were part and parcel of 80s. Between the hero and his one shot pistol of instant death, all the assault rifle packing goons who used 10 round bursts every turn were doomed to failure.
Now, if we mix elements of Blade Runner with the magical hokeyness of Big Trouble in Little China, the animatronic trolls of Total Recall, and perhaps the glib dystopianism of Escape from New York, we realize that we need more items to make our SR experience truly vibrant. The SR1 electric guitars were good, but I think we need rules for codpieces and overcoats.
Big Collar Lined Coat (retails for 1,000 nuyen)
The Big Collar Lined Coat is similar to a regular Lined Coat but it doesn't come in a Western Duster style; it only comes in Harrison Ford style. It provides the same protection and conceal bonuses but it provides 1 extra dice for Ettiquette (street) tests when worn.
Genuine Leather Codpiece (retails for 500 nuyen)
A character who is wearing either synthetic or real leathers may complete his outfit with this genuine leather article. If you're going to cover yourself with synthetic leathers the least you can do is put the geniuine article where it counts. The genuine leather codpiece provides an additional point of impact armor against called shots to raise damage made against the wearer.
Troll-sized Genuine Leather Codpiece (retails for 750 nuyen)
As above, except that the Troll-sized codpiece also acts as a concealable quick draw holster for a pistol or pistol-sized object.
Escape from New York Eyepatch (retails for 50 nuyen)
If you lose an eye to the injury table but you're a starting character and can't afford a new one you can at least wear this authentic Escape from New York Eyepatch.

...I like it. I usually put a little style and colour into what my characters wear & pack.
For example KK's Super Warhawks are actually styled after the Ruger Blackhawk which has a more "Wild West" look. Her armoured jacket is styled to look like a leather range jacket. I would like to get her a custom armoured Stetson (her earlier incarnations had one) but need to clear it with the GM
Violet goes around wearing a longoat cut in Victorian style with a matching tophat.
Hermoine's is a "Hogwarts" look Wizard's cloak.
I can't wait until the Zoe Heritage line comes out again. hopefully in Arsenal. Hope they include a full classic Kimono.

And if you ever got the urge to step outside without it, you should probably dial 888 and then commune with Mercer after you're done with that.

Don't forget the hairstyles, WR! Hairstyles are direct indicators of certain traits among NPC's.
For women, it's pretty straightforward. Bigger is better. The number of inches that a woman's hair adds to her height is equal to her charisma score.
For men, there's two options: If you are generally free spirited, such as a shaman, a gang member, a street-sam or an elf-decker, you have a mullet. The two options here are David Bowie Poofball and Lustrous Curls.
But if you are a company man, merc, or other otherwise disciplined and organized, you have to have an Ivan Drago flattop.

@Wounded
Genius!
Man, sometimes somebody really just posts up something that makes me go "That's what it was!!!! *smack forehead*" In fact, in my games, that coat is going to be marketed by a company under the brand line "Harrison Ford", and will include other stuff that he has worn in movies, most notably a brown fedora and the "ToD Leather Jacket".

PHP formating error, I presume.
I don't know if the board software allows for seamless thread splitting, but if it does I'm going to recommend splitting off the legible posts into an identical topic and then deleting the offending one's by taking out the entire thread
As for the idea, yes we do need more codpieces. We need studded leather codpieces and wie need spiked steel codpieces, too.

My weird double-blended post seems to be a unique anomality. I haven't ever experienced it before, nor do I recall seeing anything of the like. I don't really think it is a cause for alarm, unless it starts happening with any frequency.

Nope. That shows the posts (both of them) as they are supposed to be. My Firefox (and obviously the browsers of some others) are showing a blending of the two posts, with the personal details on the left listed twice, but only the text from the second post visible.
I am too computer-illiterate to do the screen-shot thingie to illustrate it any further.

Oh yeah. Man, that is weird, isn't it? These forums are pretty far from validating at the best of times, but it looks like there's some weirdness with an invalid comment declaration around that entry that's probably causing it.

http://img87.imageshack.us/img87/2968/clip...pboard01dc5.pngThe problem is in the code sent from the board software to the browser, rather than something intrinsic to the board's database, in this case. Some browsers handle improperly formatted code better than others. I'd assume that the problem here is in the Cascading Style Sheets.

Having that Logic of 1 + Computer of 1 makes it too easy for the Kid to roll a critical glitch I guess.
