I came up with this for my STL Punk game because I needed something quick. Here it is if someone else wants to use it.
This is for space craft but it should work for any vehicle.
They have four traits:
PD - Physical Defense
ED - Energy Defense
Structural Track
Systems Track
The PD and ED are soak values and not rolled. Take the damage value and subtract the PD for physical attacks or ED for radiation, electrical, EMP attacks.
The Structural track is mostly based on the size of the object. A 2m probe has 5, a light fighter has 12, shuttle 35, transports 60, and freighters go from 200 - 2000. This is the amount of damage it takes to destroy it.
Moderate damage is 40%, Serious 60%, Heavy 80%, and Destroyed is 100%. Moderate is -1, Serious -2, Heavy -4. The area between heavy and destroyed is what is normally overflow.
The systems track is usually based on a much smaller value the the structural track.
Each time a penalty is reached then a system will usually go out temporarily.
Some weapons can do both PD and ED.
So for example:
