The Sleepers
The Sleepers where originally a guild of elementalists that existed in Barsaive before the last scourge. Many where shapers and artists of no small talent but their primary concern became that of archivers and scribes.

They copied and hoarded almost everything they could find from the Theran Empire about the coming of the horrors and devised spells to slay them. They perfected underground Caerns built of elemental earth and crystals.

When the horrors struck the sleepers had prepared themselves for a short suspended animation instead of living in the regular Caerns and created crystal chambers hidden around the globe where they slept in suspended animation.

Unfortunately something went wrong and due to the fluctuations and final drop in the magic cycle several chambers simply stopped working, killing the sleepers inside them. Others kept them in isolation instead of waking them up when the scourge was over and kept them inside the sleeper chambers far longer than intended…

Five millennia would pass before some of them woke up, and of those that woke up only the youngest or most strong-willed survived…

Many takes on the task to hunt down the other lost sleeper chambers and there are already small gatherings of sleepers around the world pooling their knowledge together because even though the world has changed the danger is still present – the horrors WILL come again and the knowledge the chambers may possess is too important to ignore. They could at times be called fanatics in their hunt for lost knowledge but that is because they know what metahumanity will face, they have been in several skirmishes with bloodmages of unknown origin, Aztec involvement is suspected but not confirmed.

The former sleepers are specialists in elemental manipulation and especially the manipulation of pure elements and materials. It is not uncommon for them to have spells like Shape:Glass, Ceramics, Concrete, Plastics, etc. They also have a high knowledge of “Sixth World mysteries” “Dragons” “Horrors” and other fitting knowledge skills.

They do have a few vital drawbacks though. Due to their late awakening into the world (Between 2000-2050) they have limited knowledge of modern technology. They have extensive knowledge of magical rituals and spells that are virtually unknown and basically impossible to perform due to the limited amount of magic that is available. Due to the low mana level they are restriced to their most basic cantrips (what most mages of 2070 would count as very, very powerful spells). It is virtually unheard of these mages using cyberware as the very concept is alien to them.

Several sleepers follow the Artificier and Firebringer mentor and make good use of Task spirits for assistants and servants.

Recommended Qualities:
Magician or Mystic Adept (Duh!)
Gremlins (For technical skills)
Focused Concentration (They have knowledge of channelling magic that is far superior of today)
Aptitude (In a magical skill)
Aspected Magician (They are usually specialized within one field of magic)
Astral Beacon (Due to their more powerful magical nature they “bleed” power on the astral)
Geas: Gesture, Fetish, Talisman, Incantation (All four, this is old tradition that would divert the horrors from noticing them)
Blatant Magic/Continous Blatant Magic (As with Astral Beacon, they “bleed” magic that they cannot use)
Computer Illiterate (Almost a must have)
