Two guys on the outside covering any needed escape, two guys at the meet face to face, and two on the inside. Seems like a good setup to me.

I'll go where the team needs me. Just point

Scanning rules

[ Spoiler ]

So you don't need to make a roll since there are only a couple of nodes around you. 3 active, 2 passive. If you want to find any hiddne nodes you need to do the EW+Scan extended test with an interval of 1 minute. So you roll your dice pool x #of dice in pool and count the successes. Each roll is 1 minute in time.
Shadow

No, Snohomish is a pretty nice place with full AR and VR. The normal for the area is passive or active. Any hidden comms would bring the attention of local law enforcement.

While you are geographically close to the barrens, in reality it is at the bottom of a valley that is down a steep hill about 2000 meters away.
JDragon
Ok going to do an IC Post getting Satchel inside and sitting at a table next to the door as soon as I can.

Here is my Perception check for inside the bar, I'll be activlly looking listening for anything that would be a threat to the team.

Perception Tests
Int (4) + Perception (2) + Cyberware (3 visual) + Activly Looking (3) = 12 (visual)

Roll - 6, 4, 6, 1, 6, 3, 2, 1, 3, 2, 4, 5 = 4 hits

Int (4) + Perception (2) + Cyberware (2 Audio) + Activly Looking (3) = 11 (Audio)

Roll - 5, 2, 5, 2, 5, 6, 6, 3, 4, 1, 3= 5 hitsJD
Meriss
@shadow: that was 3 active 5 passive and 1 hidden right?
Shadow
technically you didn't detect the hidden as that would require the EW roll I was speaking of. So 3 active, 5 passive.

2,1,2,1,4,6 = 1 hit [5 hits]
4,5,5,1,2,5 = 3 hits [8 hits]
1,5,4,4,1,2 = 1 hit [9 hits]

I asked earlier but, where is Doc supposed to be according to game plan? Outside bar? Front, side, back?

I hope I havent missed anything as I'd hate to become this groups 'Captain Obvious' lol
fistandantilus4.0
Doc was second string, team 2, whatever right? Then he'd be inside the bar. Our heavies were to be waiting outside with Mandy's van, watching those KE guys.

BTW, anyone have any idea WTF KE is doing there? Last I heard, Snohomish and the rest of the Megaplex were are Lone Star turf. Adding that to the IC.

I think we have three team members inside the truck stop: Satchel, Jiro and Nightshade.
Mandy is in her van and Hiroki is covering the perimeter. I would say Doc should stay in the van to keep his meat safe and be available to assist from there. If the situation gets real bad we may need him to mess with the KE and we'll definitely need him to edit the data trails in the area.

Well Satchel went in with team #1, so that plan is kinda evergreen... wink.gif
I was thinking right now he'd be better where he can go full VR.

I was thinking the same thing.
carjack_malone
Cool, thanks for clearing it up. I thought I was just lost in the sauce lol.
JDragon
I was just getting Satchel where he could see the inside of the bar to provide back up for the guys doing the meeting. I'm also as close as possible to the front door to be able to cover the exit if something goes down outside.

JD
Redjack
Like water in a glass, we must adapt to the situation. I think we are actually positioned very well for the current scene. The hacker and rigger where they can make the most impact and cover the matrix. Hiroki on the perimeter, Satchel near the door and Jiro backing up Nightshade.

Looking for KE lawman's (any) PAN

Logic (5)+ Cerebral Booster (2)+ Electronic Warfare (5)= 12 dice

4,2,4,4,6,1,2,2,6,2,5,6= 4 successes
2,6,6,2,5,4,6,1,4,3,3,1=+4 successes (cool.gif
2,2,2,5,2,1,2,3,6,4,1,6=+3 successes (11)
3,5,1,3,5,1,5,4,6,4,4,2=+4 successes (15)
3,2,4,4,5,4,5,2,5,5,4,1=+4 successes (19)
1,4,2,2,2,6,2,1,6,3,3,5=+3 successes (22)
4,6,4,3,1,4,1,4,4,6,1,5=+3 successes (25)
4,2,1,5,4,6,2,5,5,6,3,1=+5 successes (30)
2,2,1,3,4,3,2,5,3,1,5,6=+3 successes (33)
6,6,1,3,2,3,5,5,4,3,5,3=+5 successes (38)

Or 30 if last 2 of each string is wiped via GM's decision on Program/Logic
Shadow
Its an extended test, EW + Scan, not Logic. Roll the dice the # of times as you have them. If you have 10 dice roll them 10 times. Keep track of how long it takes you to do it.
carjack_malone
Thats if I'm making use of the scan program. Page 225 under 'Using electronic warfare skill' when dealing hands on use EW+logic. When utilizing programs, use EW+ program rating. I'm opting for not using the program as 'I' am scanning myself and not leaving it up to a program at the moment.
carjack_malone
UH, that may have come across more 'prickish' than I intended. Please dont take it as such and I will go along with what you deem appropriate.
Redjack
Just as an FYI
QUOTE (SR4 FAQ @ shadowrunrpg.com)
In most circumstances, you will be using Computer/Hacking + program rating. In cases where a program would apply, but isn't available, the character must default.

QUOTE (SR4 Phb @ Page 54)
Characters who default use only the linked attribute in their dice pool. Additionally, they suffer a -1 dice pool modifier.

I must admit that since the attribute is never figured into the equation I alway thought it more appropriate if, when defaulting for a missing program, to use the skill as the default (with the -1dp) modifier... in any case, as stated before the final ruling of course resides with Shadow.
carjack_malone
clumbsy fingers lol
Shadow
I didn't take it as prickish Carjack.

The rule specifically or finding a hidden node is,

QUOTE
Finding a wireless node in hidden mode (see p. 211), however, is more challenging. Even if you know what you’re looking for, you must still succeed in an Electronic Warfare + Scan (4) Test. If you’re just scanning for hidden nodes in general, or trying to pick the hidden nodes out from the non-hidden one,
make the same Extended Test noted above but with a much higher threshold: 15+.

One of my goals for running this game is a better understanding of the rules, so please point out things you think I am doing wrong! However that being said, it is still a extended test for finding a hidden node. If you don't have a scan program (or don't use one) you cannot detect Nodes in Hidden mode.
Meriss
NP carjack I was not here to view your response. And Mandy was communing with the machine. Next time voice and comm her it works better. wink.gif
carjack_malone
I have a scan 5 program and EW 5 so, if we take the last 2 from each string I get 30 after the 10 strings of rolls. I also chose the hacker role to learn/work out the kinks before I let anyone in my Table game play one...not that they normally would lol.
Meriss
@Fist: I hear and obey! Gimme a sec.

@Shadow: Whats the setup on the street, I don't need a map just a general guide to where the bar is in relation to the cops. My mics are on the front and back bumpers of the BD, I need to know if I have to move the van.

Honestly I'm still having a bit of trouble remembering who is what. New team, six men strong, I'm still forgetting which character is which type. I guess it's a good thing we;re figuring it out now instead of in combat.

Edit: Went through and removed my sig from the IC posts. Sorry Shadow, just forgot.

Hacker, with slight combat bent (Smartlink, Wired Reflexes 1, Muscle Toner 2, Pistols 4)

Yours and jiro are the ones I was having trouble remembering what you were good at. I coulnd't remember if you were a gunner with a hacking bent, or a hacker with a shooting bent.

KE conversation.

[ Spoiler ]
Redjack
@Fist - Hey Fist it appears you are using italics for conversation... Just for consistency, italics were defined as thoughts and quoted text as conversation. Several of us had been quoting com speak with << com speak >>.

@Shadow: Couple of questions
1) Did Hiroki find any hidden nodes?
2) Just want to confirm with you that the Star has the law enforcement contract in Seattle so that means KE is really just private security..?

-RJ
Shadow
Ok the Carjack Redjack confusion got me there. I didn't realize your guys' name was so close to one another. So sorry for the confusion.

QUOTE

2) Just want to confirm with you that the Star has the law enforcement contract in Seattle so that means KE is really just private security..?

Yes, for now the Star has the contract. In Runner Havens they mention that the Star's contract is almost up and that there is a real chance whoever the new Gov. is coud give it to KE. For now though KE is just a private sec. company, however they have all the authority in their territory that real Police have.

I think Fist was using Italics to subvocalize, I could be wrong, but that is what is logical.
Shadow
Sometimes my players will do things and I feel a responsibility to let them know that their actions are ill advised. Why? Cause you aren't all criminals in 2070, your people playing criminals.

Having said that,

Ok, I thought you had pointed me away from the Lawmen by saying hey...hidden mode in bathroom lol. So, I just went that direction with my posts. I'm actually on the hidden mode 'link, all i have done is looked for PAN's and 'hotkeyed' the KE lawmen's if it goes down and then I stumbled across the hidden one. That one I'm investigating.
Meriss
@Shadow: Nope my mics are directional not omni, sorry for the confusion.

NP, I had a post ready but then wanted to make sure I didn't use outside player knowledge or give wrong information.

I just edited the post I had ready showing Satchel was going to say something, but stayed quite since it had been covered by someone else.
