QUOTE (Buddha72 @ Feb 12 2008, 11:51 AM)

Some people have asked about the rules introduced in Arsenal such as the armor modification limits and if they are being used, and the answer is yes. Since we're using the book I plan on using the rules introduced in the book. For those of you without the new book each piece of armor or clothing can only accept a total number of modifications rating points equal to 6 or the highest number of its armor ratings (Ballistic or Impact) x 1.5 (round up), whichever is higher. So make sure you read over the book and make any adjustments needed, just send me a PM with the changes and I'll modify the sheets I have.
There are two different "armor limits" rules, which seem (by my reading) to apply to different classes of armor - one, Armor Modifications, seems to apply to "clothing or armor" and is the one you quote above,. The second is the Armor Suit Capacity rule, which applies only to "armor suits". Only the Full Body Armor and Urban Explorer Jumpsuit from BBB count as "armor suits", and their capacity is given in the rule description (8 and 6, respectively, with their respective helmets having 7 and 5). Only one of the two rules applies to a given piece of armor. At least, that's how I read it.

I read this (
emphasis mine)
QUOTE (Arse @ p. 44 "Maximum Armor Modifications")
Since each type of clothing or armor is—due to chemical and
physical limitations of the materials used—only designed to protect
against certain types of damage or to grant other advantages, and
because adding layer upon layer of special fabrics only works until
you reach the point where mobility will be greatly decreased or other
hindrances appear, only a limited number of armor modifications (see
p. 50 or p. 317, SR4) can be applied to a piece of armor or clothing.
and this
QUOTE (Arse @ p. 44 "Armor Suit Capacity")
Similar to the maximum armor modifications rule, the number
of gadgets and sensory enhancements you can cram into an
armor suit (such as full body armor, p. 316, SR4, or the SWAT,
milspec, and similar outfits described in this book) is also finite.
to mean that while 'normal' clothing and armor indeed only uses the Maximum Armor Modifications rule (because it can't be equipped with gadgets like security&military armor),
the shell-like armors (security&military armor) use both rules, so you got to keep track of two different capacities if you go for the 1-man-tank look.
Oh, and yes, I'm obviously still checking this thread regularly (what little happened recently, at least) and waiting for my call. I actually stopped giving 'piano' his finishing touches after not making it in 1st,2nd&3rd round.
Seeing the team composition, I couldn't help but notice that
a) 'Spider', while having a vastly different background, personality and (most likely) MO, he could duplicate (stat-wise) many of the things my char would have done, and (more importantly)
b) while having more mages than you can shake a stick (preferably a rating 12 weapon focus stick, for that matter) at,
the only hacker/rigger ability I saw were a plethora of R6 agents (

) and the occasional spy drone, so I started digging through all the shiny new toys in arsenal and build a hacker/rigger to support the team with matrix offense&defense, team transportation&coordination and the occasional heavy rain when a small army of drones decides to test their FA, belt-fed weaponry

When I finally get a place at the karma drip-feed as well, that is.

Not being an expert here, but Arsenal Page 181-182 seem to specifically spell out which armor has capacity points (and thereby providing which ones do not). Urban Explorer Jumpsuit is on a table without capacity ratings.

Ruleswise I just need to shift one of my enhancements to my FFBA (think it's allowed to have enhancements) and get rid of another one. Totally missed the armor capacity rules in Arsenal, thanks for the heads up Buddha.
I wonder if there's some place open this hour to get a nice plant for Onna's garden?
Edit: While I'm thinking of it I'm going to roll the dice for the spells sustained through his sustaining Focii.
Force 5 Increased Reflexes - DV 4 or 5 (round up or down?)
Magic 6 + Spellcasting 4 + Mentor 2 + Aid Sorcery 5 = 17 dice
[3,5,2,5,1,4,3,3,6,2,6,6,4,1,6,4,2] = (6)
Resist Drain
Charisma 5 + Willpower 4 + Initiate Grade 5 = 14 Dice
[1,2,4,3,1,4,4,4,2,6,4,1,4,3] = (1)
Ouch 3 or 4 boxes of stun
Force 4 Combat Sense - DV 4
Magic 6 + Spellcasting 4 + Aid Sorcery 5 = 15 dice
[1,1,2,1,3,5,1,3,6,2,6,3,5,6,4] = (5)
Resist Drain
Charisma 5 + Willpower 4 + Initiate Grade 5 = 14 dice
[6,6,3,2,1,5,4,6,3,6,4,2,1,4] = (5)
Better roll there, no drain.
Buy the stun off after 2 hours.
Edit: Remembered to bring book into work today!

Yes, that sounds more likely. My first impression was that too, I can't remember why I changed my mind though. I assume that the helmet ratings are "additional electronics" (sensors, sense enhancements, etc) and any full-body modifications (e.g. insulation) made to the armor are included for free on the helmets - otherwise, their Capacity ratings don't make sense (for example the oyoroi armor has a capacity of 11, but the kabuto helmet has only 4).

Yes, I don't know why they didn't put it in the other table (along with the Full Body Armor), but on p44 it explicitly gives them both Capacity ratings in the text of the rule.
Anyways, sorry for the rules discussion, but I wanted to make sure we're all on the same page

Krossfire packs the XM30, ammo, armored jacket, and demolitions pack into the car, finds a secure parking garage a few blocks away and walks the rest of the way. He's wearing a comfortable set of fatigues and his black leather duster with a hoodie underneath covering his face if possible. FF Body armor worn underneath as well. He's going to carry the predator in a concealable holster to the temple but fully expects to be asked to leave it at the door. Once inside he'll find a spot to practice his martial manuevers for a while and then find a corner to meditate until the meet. If by any chance Marleen tells him they are running a food collection he'd stop by and pick up a case of canned peaches to donate.

Munkir will leave dressed in black combat pants, combat boots, and a plain t-shirt with his armor jacket over top. His belt includes a hidden Victorinox Memory Blade. Underneath he has a half suit of FF body armor. His clothing hides the majority of his tattoo's but a bit is visible on his neck leading up to his engraved datajack behind his left ear. He'll have a ceramic knife at the small of his back, and one on his left ankle as well. 3 Throwing knives in sheathes under his jacket. A pair of regular sun glasses hide his pitch black cyber eyes for now.
The rest of his knives will be in a case in the car. He's going to make a stop to pick up a nice plant, something he deems suitable but not too cliche for the setting. He'll park the car in a parking garage a few blocks away as well and will aim to arrive around 15 minutes before the meet.

Sponge At the moment there appears to be only nuns and monks moving around the temple.
Thanks all for your posts on gear, appearance and time table for arriving at the meet. Can I get everyone else to toss out a similar OOC post for their character? Thanks and once I get all the posts from people I will be bumping to the actual meet. I'll be posting IC today as well with a few loose ends (info from contacts, etc).

Spider will find some secure parking and a hotel room nearby. He'll hole up for the rest of the day and eveningHe'll spend the time reading up online about Buddhism and the history of this specific location. In the morning he'll get in as much of a workout as he can accomplish in the hotel room, and then walk to the meet in plain clothes, arriving at noon.

GodzillaStepping out of his midnight blue Eurocar Westwind 2070...
[ Spoiler ]
Eurocar Westwind: [Resp: 3, Sig: 5, Sens: 1; P: 3; Fw: 6]. His agent [R3] is currently running herd on the car's security system with the analyze [Effective R3] program. A pistol, his various armor and the flash-bangs are in the trunk.
...his black, Bass Layton dress shoes are a sure sign that the price of his clothing matches the budget for the car. The pair of dark charcoal, pinstriped, tailored Armani slacks adds to the picture of style. His shirt is black and made of cotton or some similar material. The cross-over cut of the shirt appears to be a fashion of Chinese origin and overall it adds a simple, yet refined look to the dress of the elf. His hair is jet black and his pulled back into a short pony tail. His features are stark, thin and have that elven, angelic appeal to them. A single, silver ring on his left hand is his only jewelry apart from a spider-web thin line atop each finger that is his AR gloves.
[ Spoiler ]
He is wearing full, form fitting body armor [6/2] under his clothes. Extended masking not only makes his aura look mundane but also hides the two active foci and two active spells [Increased Reaction F4; Physical Masking F4].
The physical masking only subtly changes his appearance, making no changes to his real clothing. His true hair color is more silver and longer. His true complexion not quite as pale nor as sharp. The silver ring (sustaining foci-Health) is real, but the mask covers a dream catcher amulet (sustaining foci-Illusion) hanging from his neck.
He carries no weapons and his comlink in his his pocket and it is currently running in stealth mode.
[ Spoiler ]
Comlink: [Resp: 6; Sys: 6; Sig: 6; Fw: 6] uses a skin link to connect to the AR gloves, earbuds & contacts.

Am I offically of the bench/introduced yet?
A slightly more generic description
DvalinnA glance reveals a tall and stocky dwarf with a ghastly white pallor and a carefully manicured beard dressed in bankers best. His conservatively cut dark navy suit with pale grey pinstripes is buttoned over a creamy white shirt, a solid blue tie with the barest hint of a matching pocket square, Chelsea boots, French cuffs and a dark brown leather briefcase. A datajack set in the back of his neck completes the picture of a corporate executive.
Further careful inspection reveals that not all is as it seems, with faded blue tattoos and skin tone body armour occasionally peeking out from under his collar and at his wrists as he nervously runs his fingers through his hair, and the cut of his suit doesn't quite conceal the bulging shoulder holster from an eagle eyed observer.
AngrimLooking much more relaxed and unconcerned is his companion, a towering broad shouldered nordic figure with a shock of blond hair flowing down to his shoulders, and an open necked shirt and flowing italian cut Mantegna suit. Both are having a rapid fire conversation in Russian, apparently about some humorous insight of the taller man.
@Astral Perception
[ Spoiler ]
Angrim is obviously a spirit, although the clothes are 'real', and Dvalinn is a mage, but his aura is tainted by cyberwear.
Also, due to arsenal changing how pilot works I need to re-edit my character sheet slightly, dropping that pilot and replacing it.

Sorry folks been a little busy here this week - schedule changes and trips out of town. I will be throwing up a big IC post Friday to introduce the newer characters and bump everyone along to the meet in the temple. On the note if the newer players who joined want to throw up their rolls or actions here for checking out the meet site etc please feel free to do so. I'll put the results in the big post on Friday.
I'll go over old business as well in an OOC thread on Friday (armor tweaks, etc) so we're all on the same page.
As always don't forget the weekly drip of karma.

I'm going to have to put this thread on hold for now. I have too many balls in the air right now and things are getting dropped. I'm very sorry and I will keep everyone's info so when the dust clears I can send out PMS and get this thread going again. I hope I haven't put anyone off from playing in a PbP game or me as a GM but RL has to come first or I would be an unhappy single man and that's something I would like to avoid.
