1. What is your character's Sex?
Male.
2. What is your character's physical size?
Medium height (for a dwarf), thin but wiry.

Medium-length, slightly unkempt light brown hair with a ratty-looking mustache and a goatee tied with a rubber band; watery blue eyes; and slightly tanned skin.
4. What is the character's general appearance (i.e., How does he dress, etc.)?
Haze wears comfortable-looking, practical clothing, usually slightly loose on his lean frame. Even his dress clothes look relaxed. He is a mellow-looking guy with a broad, friendly face and a conspiratorial grin. He has a tattoo of a hummingbird on his right shoulder, and wears several neon-colored plastic earrings. Sometimes he ties his hair back in a braid.
5. Where was the character born (City, State, Hospital Name)?
Haze was born in a nameless squat somewhere, and never found out who his mother was.
6. What is the character's date of birth?
March 12th, 2048.
7. What was the character's family life like?
Haze was an unwanted child. Unwanted by his birth mother, that is. One of the local gang bosses named Dingo Jack, who had a small army of street kids stealing and spying for him, took him in and had one of his women raise him. Haze survived by sneaking and low cunning, until his early teens, when a grungy street shaman named Broken said "Hey kid, I can offer you a better deal than that punk Jack. You got the mojo, kid. I can see it in you, about to come out." Haze was dubious at first, but when it became apparent that he could actually cast spells, he never went back to Dingo Jack. He stole and spied for Broken, instead, until he was accomplished enough to set out on his own. He doesn't have much affection for either of his mentors - they just kept him because he was useful, and he is convinced that such is the way of the world.
8. Has the character begun his own family?
Haze really doesn't care. He would consider taking a street kid under his wing if the kid had the potential for magic, and could make himself useful. But right now, he is just savoring his own hard-earned freedom.
9. Where or how was the character educated?
He was educated by his mentors (and the harsh school of Seattle's unforgiving streets). Haze's education was rather selective, and has some unusual gaps, especially in areas such as history where neither Jack or Broken saw any practical applications. He knows basic business math and how to read, the latter because Broken considered it an essential skill for any spellcaster.
10. Has the character ever done anything else for a living?
No. He was born and bred in crime, and considers it perfectly natural. He does not have the innate respect of authority that most people have. He respects strong people, in proportion to their ability to help or hurt him.
11. What are the characters political and religious beliefs?
Haze believes that everyone is in it for their own self interests, and there is no such thing as altruism. There are still relatively good people - they respect that other people have their own interests, and they don't go out of their way to hurt others. The "bad" people are the ones who destroy others, even when they don't have to. Everyone is greedy, but you don't have to be TOO greedy. There are a lot of people who are TOO greedy - politicians who take bribes and let entire neighborhoods suffer from it, corporate CEOs who shoot squatters for kicks, etc.
Religiously, Haze is agnostic. If he had to guess, he would say that the spirit world has a bunch of powerful beings all trying to push their own agendas and mess each other up - just like it is down here.
12. Describe the character's Moral code. Include how mercenary he is, whether or not he'll kill innocents, etc.
Haze lives by a code of looking out for himself and using others, but with an epicurean kind of sensibility - not being too greedy, and absolutely NO killing. Killing is the ultimate excessiveness in greed - it's saying a few bucks is worth more than someone's life. He would only kill if he absolutely had to. Haze has a peculiar honor in that he respects the mercenary ambitions of others. In fact, he respects mercenary-minded people more than idealistic people, because the idealistic people are either lying to themselves, or lying to him.
13. What are the character's goals?
Haze wants to become comfortably wealthy, then perhaps pass on his skills to worthy pupils - or perhaps not. He wants to get rich, but he is careful, because wealth is like any other high - you can get addicted to it. Then it controls you, and there is no longer such a thing as "enough" of it.
14. Why does the character run the shadows? (Why does he run the shadows still, rather than getting a "real" job?)
Haze wouldn't know HOW to get a "real" job, or even want one.
15. What kind of personality does your character have? This should not necessarily be obviously stated in the background, as it is more important for actually playing the character, but it may colour or add mood to the history.
Haze is charming but utterly cynical. He is usually nice, although he also has a sense of humor that can be cruel at times. He is sociable, but he does not really get emotionally close to others - a kind of fondness is the closest that he can get.
16. What special qualities does the character posess? This does not refer to skills, but rather at other things, such as How he gets along with people, does he plan ahead, etc.
Haze is good at projecting a nonjudgmental sympathy that induces other people to open up to him. He is a born survivor, always sharp and alert.
17. Are there certain things the character can't or won't do? Why?
Haze is not really capable of deep feelings for others. He could know someone for years, and that person could think of him as a best friend, but if that person died, Haze wouldn't really care that much (although he would make the appropriate display of grief in public).
18. What things, people, or ideas does the character hate?
Haze hates racists and similar kinds of fanatics. Killing for money is already bad enough, but killing someone, not because they are in your way or have something you want, but just because you disagree with them, and half the time it's something they can't even help like metatype or national origin, that's just as wrong as you can get.
19. What things people, or ideas does the character love?
Haze likes hanging out at sleazy bars, nightclubs, and parties, where, at least for a while, people can go somewhere and admit what they want, be it sex, drugs, money, or just a thrill.
20. What is the character's name? Give both full birth name, as well as nicknames, street names, etc.
Dingo Jack named him Jim Bone, then Broken named him Haze. He generally goes by Jim, and uses Haze as his "professional" name.
21. Determine what your character used to do, before becoming a shadowrunner (very important).
Haze was a street kid who scrounged, hustled, and stole.
22. Decide why your character left his or her old job, if he had one (also important).
When Haze got competent enough to work on his own, he stepped out into the shadows. His current lifestyle, while poor, is far better than anything he knew as a street kid.
23. Come up with a reason for why the character became a shadowrunner. (This very often will tie in with #22. This is not the same as #14, but rather why he started running the shadows originally. What led him to it?)
Haze makes his way stealing and hustling people. Shadowrunning is the grown-up version of what he did as a street kid.
24. How did your character come to know his or her contacts? Contacts are an important part of Shadowrun, decide how and why you know them.
Spindler (Fixer) is a thin, bald, sour-faced man who usually dresses in white Hong Kong suits, always accompanied by two hulking (but still androgynous-looking) ork bodyguards, who dabbles in a bit of this and a bit of that. He is a fast-talking chiseler with his hands in a lot of dirty dealings, but strictly low to mid end of the food chain - he could get you an assault rifle or sell the hot set of wheels that you just nabbed, but he couldn't get you a Panther cannon or a Steel Lynx drone (although he might know someone who could). He is trustworthy, up to a point, because he prides himself on his reputation, but he won't hesitate to drop a runner who becomes a liability, or to take advantage of a situation that he can exploit.
Mr Fingers (Talismonger) is a surly ork who sells some decent stuff, if you avoid the Cascade Ork "crafts" displayed to entice the tourists ("art" that is turned out on a computer-guided laser lathe). He also sells herbal remedies and drugs (peyote and marijuana). He has a huge, shaggy dog named Killer who always seems to be sleeping. Mr. Fingers doesn't need a dog, though, because he is a mean S.O.B. with a sharp knife. He got his name from his habit of cutting a finger off of any shoplifter he catches - he keeps them in a jar of alcohol by the door. Haze knows better than to even TRY stealing from him.

Haze has never had a SIN.

Haze is a full-time shadowrunner.

He appreciates any gang boss or entertainer who knows how to party.

He hates all cults, hate groups, or fanatical policlubs.

He doesn't respect anyone, really. He respects power, but not individuals. He has a bit of grudging respect for Broken, who may have used him, but at least offered him something worthwhile in return.

Alamos 3000, because they are absolute, genocidal sickos.

Yellow, as an accent to other colors.

He likes crunchy fried foods and dark, bitter beer.

He would like to get enough stroke to get into one of the more exclusive places like Dante's one of these days.

Himself, although he tries to take care of his friends.

He likes playing jokes and head games on people sometimes, and he also likes occasionally taking a day or so to hit the bars and other pleasure spots to just indulge himself.

He doesn't like fighting, although he knows that sometimes violence is necessary to survive.

People who are too stupid to know when they have lost an argument.

Haze likes things like strippers and cheesy trid shows. He has no use for culture, and often finds it pretentious.

To become strong in his magic, and ride it to wealth and power.

His easygoing likeability.

His inability to truly care for anyone other than himself.

He snuck up on a roof and took out a deranged idiot who was sniping at people with an old hunting rifle. He mostly did it because this moron was messing up his day out. He came up invisible, stunbolted the guy, cleaned up his aura, and left. The trids were buzzing about it for a few days afterwards, but he didn't pay much attention to it.

None, and doesn't even like discussing it - too boring to him.
44. What is your most treasured possession (and why)?
He loves his commlink - it is still a happy novelty to him.
45. What are your three most common dreams?
> Lying on a beach with the pretty woman he has seen most recently, sipping pina' coladas, while in the ocean, dolphins and women in bikinis do tricks like jumping through hoops. The only thing keeping it from being perfect is that some cheesy popular song that he doesn't like is playing in the background.
> A nightmare - he is a kid again, and he finds all of this cool stuff, then he is standing there, sniveling, while Dingo Jack, Broken, and Spindler all take it and divvy it up, until he is standing there with nothing. Sometimes, in an even worse nightmare, Mr. Fingers will come up at that point and snarl "If you don't have anything left for me, I'll have to take some fingers."

Not very close. In fact, he doesn't even really think of them that much. Dingo Jack actually got killed by another gang boss a year or two ago, and Broken may or may not have moved to Denver.

He heard a month or so ago that Broken was thinking of moving back to Denver, and shrugged when he heard it.

A lifetime as a thief and hustler, and magical training from Broken.

No.
50. What type of music does the character like?
Brainless mainstream music of all types, although he dislikes about a third of it. He only listens to new age if he is trying to fall asleep, though.

None, although he has broken the hearts of a few girls who fell for him, and then found out that he didn't return the same intensity of feeling.
52. Where does your character live? Why does he live there?
Right now, he is stuck in a wretched apartment near Redmond. It is a wonderful place to him right now, but when he makes more money he won't have any sentimental attachments keeping him from moving.

Haze is a charming but very shallow person, whose background has left him emotionally crippled in ways he is not even aware of. He can only form the most superficial attachments with others. He is very non-judgmental, though, and has a deep respect for the integrity of life itself - he sees killing as a grave and very serious thing. True to his Mentor Spirit, he is a hustler with a sense of humor that can sometimes be cruel.

Stray’s sort of honest, and sort of nice – often too nice and honest to get ahead, but not enough to make it legit. She has a tendency to not see things through, often changing her plans. She's not much for killing, but she's also not too fazed by it - she saw enough of it to get used to death. Although she tries to avoid killing since she wants to avoid making enemies.
Motivation for running the Shadows:
Stray wants a better life, plain and simple. She’s got not much of an education, and she knows it, so she’s counting on her body to make up for her brain - any way she can think of, shadow and day jobs. Trying out for background dancer jobs for music trid clips, dancing at a night club, waitressing, courier stuff, street fighting, bodyguarding, spying, stealing, bouncer, anything she can think of that looks like it'd get her a shot at a better life she’s trying. She's floating from one odd job to the next, and dealing with the trouble that comes up.
Description:
Stray has a dark teint, slender, athletic build, and slightly curly hair. She has a tendency to pout.
History:
Stray grew up in Seattle’s rougher parts, although not in the barrens. Her mother left her for the embrace of BtL-Chips when she was 12, her father having been gone for 8 years already, part of them in prison. Since then she has been living from some charity in the quarter, and hung out with Mel. Since her block at the time was occupied by a gang with a very macho attitude, she didn’t get into the local gang even after her adept powers started to show. Since her adept powers are rather subtle, it took her some time to realise that she wasn’t simply talented. Since then she has tried to improve them by focusing on her „talents“, mostly training with Mel and working out.

Mel (Troll Enforcer) (Connection 2, Loyality 5)
Mel is Stray’s „replacement uncle“. He taught her martial arts, and surviving on the streets. He’s 35 years old, and started to feel his age. He cut back on his enforcing, and is now running a seedy bar/dive/strip club, the „Starlight Express“, in a low to middle class neighborhood. He’s still an impressive troll, but he’ll never be a prime runner.
Al (Elven Fixer) (Connection 3, Loyality 1)
Al (or „Weird Al“, if he’s not present) is the „bad friend“ Stray’s parents would have warned her of, if they had hung around for her to grow up. Al is a fixer in Seattle, and knows and deals with a lot of people in town. Al is charming, youthful looking, and well-mannered, and always has some job, legit or otherwise, for anyone.
Unfortunately, his (hated) nickname comes from the fact that a number of his jobs turn out to be more complicated than he thought. Usually nothing really major like a trap, but stuff like the mom and pop shop a runner might have been hired to persuade to pay protection turns out to belong to the beloved grandparents of Carl Crusher, rising star of the Seattle Combat Biking Team.
Al himself has managed to escape blame for such „complications“ so far, thanks to his glib tongue, and thanks to him usually not dealing with the creme of Seattle’s job market.

Qventra has no real goal in life. He spends most of his time on the Matrix, keeping up with politics and chatting with sprites.
He has a low sense of morality, due to his history working for the SVD, and usually has minor trouble paying protection and his bills. He takes any runs he can get, but prefers to work alone. After four years, he still feels uncomfortable in Seattle. When approached, Qventra is usually polite and civil, but lies habitually.
Why He Runs
Running is how Qventra gets his adrenaline rush. He is a bit of a junky, otherwise he could have simply lived on his salary from his journalistic work. He does his jobs, gets his rush, and goes home. He has no real plans to improve himself, beyond eventually trying to get back to St. Petersburg.

Yagor and Qventra used to be partners in the SVD, until Yagor accepted a job offer at Evo. He rose through the ranks quickly, and actually helped Qventra establish himself in Seattle. However, Qventra blames Yagor for his release from the SVD, so relations between the two are strained, at best.
Daeyan Nar - Ancients Go-Ganger : Connection 1; Loyalty 2
Daeyan is the closest Qventra has to a 'friend' in the sprawl, and they infrequently catch a drink together in at a bar in Tarislar. Qventra met Daeyan at a run, and for whatever reason, kept up communications with him, albeit limited. Daeyan is simply a ganger, with no important status of which to speak of.
Artur Bovarov - Editor of Novaya Seattle : Connection 4; Loyalty 2
Artur is Qventra's superior at his cover job, the local Russian paper 'Novaya Seattle' but Qventra's often substandard work and deadline misses have lead Artur to barely acknowledge Qventra, even though Qventra has been employed at Novaya Seattle for over two years. Qventra has just recently recieved a local Russian journalism award from Evo, which is the only reason he has not been fired.

Chaos Theory will be a game of shadowrun (set in Seattle) involving several individuals running the shadows solo in an attempt to have fun and let me take a shot at being the GM and creating a world that others can have fun in. My game will be focusing on the fantasy aspect of the experience. I hope to have a happy marriage between rolling dice to get results and making crap up to create drama and suspense.
I have no idea how much I can handle but lets aim for 6 people....... just make a character you want to have fun with and I will try to provide the entertainment. About the only characters I would be cautious about making is heavily social people, its fine to take social skills!! But if the only thing your character plans on doing is talking to people thats going to be pretty damn boring to me and in turn to you. Everything else is fine though.
