Some More Clarification:
My brain started hurting as a added up modifiers and such so here's the quick and dirty for making attack rolls:
If you have thermo, low-light, and every other doodad: -3 situational modifier to engage anything in the chamber
If you have only low-light: -3 to engage things right in front of you and -4 to engage anything else.
If you have nothing: -5 It's pitch black in here, unless you can put a flash light on your target yo don't see shit.
The reason for these wonky modifiers is due to the near invisibility of the things attacking you. They don't show up on thermo, they barely show up on low-light, and all and all it's like fighting ghosts.

So, let's
see:
surprise roll: zero hits
regular initiative: 3 hits for a sum of 9
So, whenever that normal combat round rolls round:
- Simple: Perception test (still with -1 I guess): 8 dice for
1 hit
- Simple: Ready Weapon: Manhunter
- Free: Switch on counterspelling for whomever I can see.
As for questions:

I normally retain karma awards for in game action only but that's so epic win that I'll allow the other players to nominate Madrigan for a spot karma award. Seriously, I laughed until I woke the neighbors.
Game!:
-Water is mid troll thigh height. It's also pitch fucking black.
-Ears, Alan has been WARPED into position behind Marcus so he's bringing up the tail end.
-Madrigan, only two hits on your surprise test so you stand and drool with everyone else. Go ahead and roll your combat initiative when you get a chance. Let me know if you look astral or use your watcher to annoy the enemy.
So dumori and madrigan both need to roll init and declare actions. I'll post in the IC thread so we can see what Mickle5125 managed to pull off.
Oh and I move that we all use the format that Ears used for declaring actions:
Complex: Blah
Simple: blah
Simple: bleh
Free: etc.
Keeps things easy for me to read.
REVISION: A simple action look is unnecessary to acquire a target if you're going to just shoot tentacles. They're pretty obvious when they rise out of the water... all glistening and vile. If you're trying to attack the source of the tentacles, you'll need to make that perception test though.

Alright! Combat Turn #1, pass #2. Anyone with more than one IP is free to act in this turn.
The following people have been grappled by the tentacle monster:
-S*P
-Martin
-Marcus
The tentacles have a very firm grip and smoke is beginning to rise from your coverall uniforms. Please resists 4P damage with body+impact armor+6 pts of chem resistance afforded by your uniforms (the coveralls only provide additional impact armor versus bite attacks). I also need you to make a strength+agility OR Strength+Unarmed OR Agility+Unarmed to resist being dragged limb first into the water. You can of course decide not to bother and attack but you'll be at a -3 for being in melee.
GM Freebie: Using parazoology is a free action provided you're:
-Interfacing with your commlink via trodes or datajack
-Just using your native knowledge of parazoology to ID this creature.

Nov 10 2008, 09:56 PM
Okay I kinda cocked this up.
If you are currently being grappled you will need to make a test to see if it drags you into the water. You will make this test at the beginning of the first IP you can act in. I believe Zombayz is the only person grappled who has multiple IP's so he's the only one who can act to try and breakfree Turn #1, IP #2. Everyone else has to wait until Turn #2 IP#1. I got ahead of myself by asking for all those rolls, we need them.. just later

.
So! In English:
It's going to be the Zombayz/Mickle5125 show for awhile since they're the only ones with extra IP's.
The creature got to grapple you in the surprise round but that was it's action. Rest assured however, that yanking you into the water is at the top of its list of things to do in the next turn.
Mickle5125:
You are the only person who is acting on IP #3 and IP #4 so let me know what your actions are. After the last volley you seemed to have killed or scared off another of the tentacle monsters but your teammates are still grappled. You may post accordingly since you beat Zombayz on init. Let me know what you want to do during IP#3/#4.

*sings to the tune of row, row, row your boat* shoot, shoot, shoot them all, shoot them in the head! Line 'em up and gun 'em down, keep shootin till they're dead!
Honestly, Kerrigan's going to keep blasting away with the shotgun. End of the turn, she'll be out of ammo (8 rounds, 2 shots/IP, 4 IPs), at which time one of her other toys comes out to play. Aren't you all glad that the walking armory is here to save the day?
EDIT: Ok, is anyone else worried by the fact that this girl apparently watches anime on a regular basis and seems to instinctively swing shotguns around and start pumping off rounds when she's startled?

Alright, Mickle5125 you're up for the next two IP's so roll them bones (I guess you're attacking 4 more times right?). If you kill something I'll assume you switch targets to the next one and handwave the usual -1 for target switching (you're firing on wide choke, they're kinda bunched together, the recoil alone is probably letting you hit more than one in a go).
Madrigan:
Resisting getting dragged into the water is a complex action so your other actions would have to wait until Combat Turn #3. Your 3 hits will keep you from going over the side though.
[ Spoiler ]
Gazing into the astral you are confronted by a scene that's just as confusing as the one in the "real" world. Harsh red light crackles through the tentacles assailing your crew, some sort of malign steam rises from the tentacles as well. Glancing quickly towards the water you take in another depressing sight, you can't see the fucking creature that these tentacles belong to. The tentacles simply plunge into a faint sheet of shimmering microbial life suspended in the water. You sense your watching spirit tugging at your astral ears, begging you to let him take his place in Vahalla. You're fairly certain it's also point at the troll and saying "See! See! He gets to go! Why not me!?". Just then the troll bellows something in a guttural tongue and the water boils and parts as a... wow... is that a jelly fish? The creature is probably virtually translucent on the physical plane but on the astral it lights up like a christmas tree. The creature is definitely mundane, it was healthy up until troll boy put an axe through it's arm, and its general emotional state hovers between pissed off and utterly shocked.
Oh and it's fraggin huge too. Probably as big as you are, if made of jellol.
Zombayz:
Pfft! 7 hits? Weak sauce axe troll... weak sauce

Your troll axe will have to wait until CT#2/IP#1 to act. Resisting the critter counts as a complex action. Of course you got so many hits over it that I've ruled you dragged it at least partially out of the water. You can save your attack roll for CT2/IP1 if you like.
Oh and I have a new decree:

19 Kerrigan
13 Marcus (Rigged)
10 Troll Axe
9 Alan
8 Tentacle Creature(s)!
7 Martin
Alright so lets hear your actions. The only one still grappled is S*P but he's got his tentacle monster out of the water and terrified. Theres another set of tentacles hazarding Alan but he'll actually be able to dodge out of the way... Provided they live long enough to actually make an attack.
