Example1: 6 TM's/hackers call up there 6 high loyalty contacts and call up there fixer to hire another 6 TM's/hackers. Now These 18 hackers/TM's assault a high volume public node airport,office node,online catalog store etc.. Now how does this node react obviously set up for high volulme traffic does it have multiple IC/agents protecting it?
If so then will this same node release 18 IC/agents against single intruder?

(I know im jumping gun abit here as unwired may clear up some of this, but even haveing 2 hackers in a group can cause smaller version of this problem.)


Example2: 6 Mages with 6 allies cast and layer physical barriers at force 6. So do they now have have 72 pnt barrier?

(Worst case object/ammo would have to resist one at a time?)

No, the physical barrier still only has a maximal rating of 6, because force limits the maximum amount of hits. Doesn't matter if they get several hundred hits because they rolled extraordinary and used edge, ritual spellcasting, foci and whatnot, the barrier in the end will only have a structure rating and an armour of 6.

If they all cast the spell individually, helped by their ally spirit, that just creates six physical barriers, each with a maximum rating of 6.

Actually, they would have 12 Force 6 physical barriers, if I'm understanding this right. The 12 barriers would each be treated as completely separate entities.

First off there is the profit margin factor. GMs sometimes have J's pay by the head. But really if you want to bring in a dozen people they'll tend to balk. If they have J's pay a flat rate than having a lot of people means the payoff takes a dive.


As for the hackers there is one problem. When you hack in on the fly you don't get to let anyone else in for free. Everyone has to blast in. Since everyone has to get in the odds of the system detecting a couple people and going on alert goes up.

If a system detacts multiple intruders it can't run multiple IC without dropping it's response (though it could bring in extra spiders or external IC). However it's most likely action is just to treat it as a denial of service attack and shut down all wireless conections.

This will happen even with two deckers. The chances of an alert are roughly doubled, so you're losing a lot of stealth. And the system is more likely to just crash itself if multiple powerful icons show up. That's fine if that's what you were trying to do. If not.....

That was something that I was wondering about IC; if it's loaded on one node in the network, and an intruder alert is sounded on another node, can it go in as backup and still keep the attributes that it had when running on the node that it was loaded onto and is running from?

In essence, if an IC is running on a rating 5 system in the network and there's a security breach in a rating 4 node, can it go attack the intruder in the rating 4 node with its rating 5 attributes, or will it be reduced to rating 4 when it gets there?

Personally, I think it would be option 1, as a persona doesn't take a performance hit when it visits a node that's at a lower rating than its home commlink as its running off of the commlink, and option 2 allows for an easy way to deal with pursuing black IC--detour into a rating 1 or 2 system (perhaps an old commlink kept around for this purpose), let the IC's attributes drop like a rock and hit it hard.

i thought a frames stats were limited by the node they were in? so the same would go for ic, as thats all they are now....
