About to open her mouth and thank Daylin for his compliment, Hal just sighs when he ducks through the open door.
Trying to get know him is damn near impossible. Sometimes I feel like he's hiding or running... wish he could trust me... course I'm one to talk. If he knew I'd been booted from the Academy I wonder if he would still listen to a word I had to say.
Shrugging, Hal just turns back to the control panel, doublechecking that the hyperspace jump was going smoothly. Soon... bored with the continual streak of stars Hal heads back towards the crew quarters.
I suppose I should see what I can do about getting these passengers to pay their way.

Replaying the last 48 hours was almost physically painful for O'olan. His quarry escaped, his ship destroyed and worst of all with the loss of both came a major loss of honor. The honorific use of his family name Delneb, that he had been allowing himself use of the past two years was now stripped, reverting back to the most generic self-reference of Gand. Denoting no personal honor. O'olan was angry, hadn't he performed all the ceremonies correctly? Done the proper meditations to find the truth of his fugitive? How had the teachings failed him, they never had before? The Findsman clan he belonged to was the most honorable clan on the Gand homeworld. Known for only taking the most dangerous of criminals, the murderers, slavers, and stim pusher and making the galaxy safer for it. They had suffered under Imperial rule, refusing to take bounties they did not deem just. But that had changed when the New Republic came to power.
The teachings did not fail me, I failed the teachings. I did not listen well enough to what was presented, that is the only explanation. I must find a quiet place to meditate and find what I have missed.
Ndding to Rand (a strange Human affectation he picked up somewhere), O'olan stands and goes in search of a quiet corner of the ship to reflect.

After satisfying himself that the engines are still in good condition, Daylin informs the Capt that he'll be retiring to quarters for a while. He goes in to his quarters and locks the door.
It'd be too obvious to start wearing a blaster now. No bounties on my head. Can't be to sure about these hnters though. Anyone that'll take the law in exchange for Imperial credits ...His mind is busy , full of turmoil, doubt, conflict. Plans for how to do away wit te hunters have already crossed his mind more than once, and angrily been pushed aside.
Can't make assumptions. Can't live in Fear. Calm ... calm.Again Daylin sits in the meditation position. He focuses on the sounds of the ship's engines, the white noise to block out all others. He focuses himself, concentrating, trying to find peace within his mind.

A few minutes of sleep is all Rand gets. He stands up stretching his neck to remove the crick and wanders out of the galley. Almost be accident his feet lead towards the cockpit. He turns a corner almost bumping into Hal as she leaves it. He steps back enough to to not bump her, but not to far. His eyes glint with a playful light.
Hi, I was wandering about a couple of things. One, what can I do to cover the inconvenience of having me aboard, and secondly what are the sleeping arrangements? Do I get my own or do I have to share?
His tone is friendly but laced with implication.

This is not going how I expected, Hal's great and so is Daylin when he isn't hiding in his room. It's been to long since I've had, say it Rand, friends. Maybe a little more than a friend in Hal's case, she's wonderful, a girl who doesn't glaze out when I talk mechanics. I just hope that Gand doesn't have my name on a warrant list. I should tell Hal about that. She should know. But I can't be sure how she'll take it. Blast it Rand just leave it for now.

Hal's thoughts are disrupted by the sudden return to realspace and the shrill blare of the klaxons.
Sitting bolt upright, Hal switches the ship back on to manual control and starts searching the sensor displays for the reason for the alarm.

Hope this isn't more Imperial bastards over extending their reach, I've heard they've been doing that a lot as of late. The ship might have a gravity well generator; however, other than random power fluctuations, the ship appears to be dead in space. Consequently there is no transponder signal. There is no entry in the ship's computer matching the ship type.
A quick check of the computer shows that the odds of this ship pulling you out of hyperspace are close to 1 in a trillion. Its center of gravity would have been exactly in the path of the Hawk's.

Negligible signs of power usage. On a focused scan, the emergency beacon seems to be repeating a message. The signal is very week. It will take further fine tuning to get a reading on that one.
The memory pops into his head of a ship just like this ... or rather ... a model of a ship like this in a museum when he was studying with the Jedi. It was an old-style capital cargo ship for hauling planet sized loads of food or machinery for setting up colonies. It was at least 300 years old at the time he was a kid.
The ships were Dural-class and were used by the Old Republic for colonization. There was a short lived plan to convert them to military use but given the relative peace at the time it was never done.

It's a Dural-class freighter. They hauled loads for planet colonization for the Old Republic some 300 years ago. Could be outdated farming equipment. Could be old food. Could be anything on there really.
Either way, it's an old ship. No way anyone living would have salvage rights by now. You could just as well sell it to a musuem as a scrap yard.
Daylin actually feels a tinge of regret at turning such a relic in to credits. Some people have no respect for vintage any more.

What's the chance of something unpleasent being on board? You here hear nasty stories from Spacers. Then again it's got worth a whole pile of credits.

"Unpleasant" plenty good. Something stopped her after all. Anything living though I doubt. Unless some pirates are using it for a base, and shielding it from sensors. A lot of larger ships can haul an asteroid into a spacing lane to force ships out of hyperspace, then jump them. It's a pretty common tactic though, so people usually know how to react. Rand, why don't you get in to that turret again while I do some more detailed scanning. I want to see if there's any power on there at all, or signs of life.
using a focused scan, starting on the engines and working all the way to the front, then back again, Daylin takes some time to scan the entire ship thoroughly.

fistandantilus4.0
Aug 22 2007, 08:24 PM
Well if it's got no power, we'll have to manually hook up to it, and see if we can restore power before opening a bay door. We have four suits on board, so assuming they fit, the Captain, you, our Gand friend here, and myself can all go over, leaving the wookie and the droid to watch over things on the Hawk. Which makes sense really. If this were a trap, I'd rather have the most fearsome guard available covering our rears to make sure no one tries to steal our ship out from under us.
That and wookies are very honorable, at least from my experiences. If she gives her word that she'll guard our ship for us ,I doubt even her companion could talk her out of it. And it seperates them if they do inted to do us harm.
We'd need some basic tools and some weapons just in case. The sensors dont' show any life signs, but there are ways to shield that. It shouldn't be hard to find the engineering bay, so we could go there first, see what we can do about restoring power, then check the bridge and the ship's logs.
What do you think Captain?
