Full Version: Character Creation Questions

So... there's supposed to be this great list of questions for the creation of a Shadowrun character. I can't remember exactly what it's called, or where it is.

So, I ask you all, where is this wonderful list? I tried the search feature, however my search-fu was not strong. It's probably somewhere silly that I missed, so I apologize in advance for this silly question.

Not the official '20 Questions', but this list might be useful. wink.gif

Knasser's got one:
In the middle of the page...

Blackjack had one also, but I'd have to email it to you...

Y'know, I even skimmed his site. Guess that's what I get for skimming and not reading. wink.gif

Also, wasn't there one that was some sort of odd number, not a -5 or a -0? I seem to remember one that was especially good that was either 23 or 32 questions, or something weird like that.

The original 20 questions are from the SR2 base book:
QUOTE
1) What is the character's sex?

2) What is the character's physical size?

3) What is the color of the character's hair, eyes, and skin?

4) What is the character's general appearance?

5) Where was the character born?

6) What is the character's age?

7) What was/is the character's family?

8 ) Has the character begun his own family?

9) Where or how was the character educated?

10) Has the character ever done anything else for a living?

11) What about the characters political and religious beliefs?

12) What is the character's moral code?

13) Does the character have any goals?

14) Why does the character run the shadows?

15) What is the character's personality?

16) What special qualities does the character possess?

17) Are there certain things the character just cannot do?

18 ) What does the character hate?

19) What does the character love?

20) What is the character's name?

These should really be ensconced on the official site somewhere near the character sheets...

Bull had a 50+ questionnaire (I remember it as having 52 or 53). That was what I was looking for when I found the one I linked above (which has 52 questions).

I never really cared for most of the "20-50 Questions" lists myself. Too many of them are "questions" that are better handled through a simple stat listing, such as age, birthdate, hair color, and so on. That said, I once found a really interesting set of questions on some fansite (I think it was Blackjack's but I'm not sure anymore; it was so long ago) that I tweaked a bit. You can find it below.
  1. What’s your favourite colour? Any particular reason why?
  2. What do you want to wear at your next costume party?
  3. Under what circumstances, if any, would you sacrifice your life?
  4. What do you like or dislike about traveling?
  5. What makes life worthwhile for you?
  6. What’s the best thing you’ve ever done?
  7. Warfare or magical assault. Which do you fear more and why?
  8. What’s your favourite number?
  9. How do you believe the universe works?
  10. What sort of education have you acquired, and how? Did you enjoy the process?
  11. What great figure from mythology, history, or the media do you identify with, and why?
  12. What kinds of animal do you like to spend time with?
  13. What’s the worst thing you’ve ever done?
  14. Why are you running the shadows?
  15. Under what circumstances, if any, would you betray your friends?
  16. What’s your best party trick or show-off stunt?
  17. What manner of dying do you fear most?
  18. What do you expect to experience after you die?
  19. Is there an aspect of yourself you would like to change or part with? If so, what?
  20. How would you like to retire?
I just thought they asked more poignant questions that tell you more about who and what the character is as opposed to "What's your character's name?" and whatnot. More useful both as a player and a GM to see into the mind of a character rather than surface traits that anyone could tell just by looking at him.

Sounds like they took a few from Harlequin's Back

Good list though
Ol' Scratch
Now that you mention it, I do believe they mentioned something about Harlequinn on the site I originally found 'em. That's one sourcebook I was never able to get my hands on. <e-tear>
