Roswell, 1947, a day like any other is shattered by the violent destruction of a doomed flying craft. Skeptics and officials would have us believe that the vessel was a weather balloon containing dolls. Those of us with sense no better.

Among the believers and the truth seekers who refuse to accept the government's lies is a select group of magical practitioners who believe that the extraterrestrial Greys are highly evolved magicians who have surpassed the limitations of earthly magic and used their abilities to traverse the stars. These individuals seek to emulate the Greys in the hope that they will achieve the aliens' superior magical abilities.

Greys see spirits as living incarnations of the fundamental forces of the universe, shaped into fully sentient forms by the will of the summoner. Most spirits summoned by Greys appear to be humanoid or semi-humanoid alien species, though some may appear as abstract geometric shapes. Fire spirits, called Cosmic Engines, commonly appearing in the form of miniature stars.

The Probe:
All Greys take a talisman geasa. The Grey talisman, known as the Probe, is a smooth metal cylinder made of alchemical radicals, rounded at one end and having a handle at the other. Usually, but not always, the probe is hollowed out near the handle and is filled with electronics, with LEDs and button sticking out of the handle.

In Grey tradition, The Probe is a multi-function technomagical device which both gathers information and channels its owner's mental powers. Line of sight spells can be used as normal, but touch spells require that the Grey actually probe the target.

Groups:
Greys congregate in initiatory groups containing between 3 and 12 members. These initiatory groups operate as independ cells that, together, form an international hierarchy of Grey magician. Information is sharred freely between the groups, but each is required to manage its own finances and can determine its own strictures, within reason.

Body modification is a common requirement amongst Grey groups, with their members physically altering themselves to appear more like the Grey aliens. The highest ranking Greys are physiologically indistinguishable from an actual extraterrestrial.

The Saucer:
All Grey groups are required to build and maintain a Saucer. Those who do not have a Saucer lack voting power in international meeting and are generally looked down upon.
The construction of a saucer varies wildly, but all have several things in common. All are working saucer-shaped non-aerodynamic VSTOL aircraft inhabited by an Ally spirit known as a Ship-Mind.
Some Saucers are nothing more than modified thunderbirds while others are elaborate and extravagant vessels large enough to accommodate hundreds of passengers and full medical facilities.
The Ally spirit is given a form that matches idealized form of the ship and a hybrid merge is usually preferred so that the resulting entity will have the intended appearance. More secretive groups tend to prefer flesh forms and the resulting Aura Masking Power.
The Ship-Mind is immediately set free and every member of the group is required to tithe a portion of his karma to the newborn free spirit in the hope that it will become powerful enough to safely traverse the cosmos.
Various spirit powers and spells are used to make the Saucers move in ways that violate the laws of physics.

Rituals:
Grey initiation rituals involve kidnapping unsuspecting people are preforming highly sexualized medical experiments on them.

The standard Grey tradition is a Materialization tradition; but there is a faction of Greys known as Reticulians who practice a subtradition that summons Possession spirits.

Ya know, I was really expecting to read, "We are grey. We stand between the Shadow and the Light."

is meant with "have to be probed", that you have to touch the person with the probe, or do you have to "insert" the probe in one or the other hole in the body?

The Minbari don't practice magic. Besides, this allows you to have all the fun of traditional alien abductions without totally breaking the setting. cool.gif cool.gif vegm.gif
