http://www.4chan.org/ (!not any sort of work safe!)
how do you think internet subcultures like this anonymous posting site would manifest in the matrix?
the concept of invasions is an interesting idea i can see translating into the SR world.

4chan's invasions are an interesting concept to extend to the Matrix, but one that is a lot less prone to be done 'for the lulz', as Black IC and hit men don't give a shit about the lulz. They only care their bosses are pissed that you're interrupting business.
That said, the common user could get horribly trashed by an invasion.

Damien Knight did it for the lulz.

The presence of people who will actually find and kill you on the matrix - and the effectiveness of things like the track program, will probably make people behave a bit differently.

The Crash Virus was 4 lulz.
A Deus is good too.

Ah 4chan, where the furries go to come out of their closets. I'd bet the most likely thing to occur along the lines of /i/ would probably defacing public AR installations or messing with gridguide systems. I think there exists some group doing that in the Hambug-part of Runner Havens.
Personally I kept my matrix communities mostly to a FYAD forum in Shadowland.

with the advent of full VR, I'm sure there is some seriously sick shit in the dregs of the Matrix in 2070

Actually, for a while now, I've wanted SR decking technology to use now. Assuming it could interface properly, and still let me completely dominate modern tech, of course.
Primarily so I could destroy /b/ forever.

Oh lawd, you broke rules 1 and 2.

Well, I haven't proven rule 34 yet. Thank god.
(A co-worker of mine - a very sheltered sort of a man - once proclaimed that there 'couldn't be any pokemon porn on the internet'. We proved him wrong at length, but unfortunately we couldn't do it at work.)

I find it difficult to imagine how anyone would seriously believe that. I could understand not initially grasping the truth of the existence of Mudkip-chan, but to truly believe there couldn't be any?
Kids these days.

This was, admittedly, prior to the appearance of Mudkip-chan - which I only just learned about, which is why I recalled the pokemon crack. But yeah, I and the better-schooled associates out in Redmond were like "Bwuh?!?" when he asserted this.
This guy also believed that ever having done any drug means that you're a loose cannon, READY TO SNAP AND GO PSYCHO! That if you drink at all, you're obviously a rapist in waiting and a weak shell of a human being. That pepper spray was kinda 'too harsh' for a self-defense weapon.
Seriously. I think he's from Mars.

But messing with grid guide would actually be a real issue and the authorities would break out black hammer without blinking. I mean.. why not?

Man, I think rule 34 would proven over and over every single day in SR. With increased tech and simsense, rule 34 would take on a whole new meaning. Not only would there be pokemon porn, but there would also be a sim track for it......

Rule 34?

There is porn of it. No exceptions.
A slightly clearer version of it adds "If it exists," at the beginning.
Not to be confused with rule 50.

I'm sure I have no idea
what you're talking about.
Personally, I think internet subcultures would fit right into Shadowrun. One of the major themes of Shadowrun is that while the world has become more interconnected, society has fragmented into tribal enclaves, megacorporate fiefdoms, policlubs, and gangs.
So you will have SURGED catgirl pornstars catering to the furry fans. You will have the scientist who cybers up the guard paracritters adding in a stomach-wall camera, so that he can get his vore fix by watching that luckless shadowrunner get digested. The real-time Goreans will have their own commune (where they will huddle fearfully, hoping that the razorgirl they messed with by mistake once doesn't show up to kill the rest of them). You won't need ogrish.com when you can get real-time trid feeds of Desert Wars action, Aztlan blood sacrifices, or pit fights that go to the death. Shadowrunners should feel normal, if not slightly prudish, for doing nothing more unusual than going around shooting people in the face for money.
