There are a few place in the magic system where the difference of 1 force makes a huge difference (+1 meter radius, +1 hour of signature duration, detection detail, beatable ORs etc). These are not subtle differences and any kind of systematic observation would reveal them easy and quickly. Spirits are even more extreme. Each force grants an amount of harden armor it takes an extra 4 strength to cut, or the next larger cartage size. 3 force equals a whole new power. Given these equivalences you could measure the effects of foci in detail as well. From spirits and foci, you could deduce real karma costs for various acts. Measuring When drain becomes physical would allow magicians to deduce there actual magic stat. Assessing another awakened reveals whether they're magic is >,=, or < than yours. This would allow magicians to watch an adept develop and calculate the real PP cost of adept powers.

So my question is do the hermetics at MITT know all this or in your game world is magic more ephemeral chaotic ... even if only in the flavor text?

I'm sure there's Taschereau Scales, a Force Index Indication Increment, or a Potential Energy Rating scale in the world of 2070. It's a force that people have been trying to scientifically explain for a long time, certainly, people are going to have put together a system of rating how powerful something is.

Hey, if you want to have fun, you could even say their rating system is somehow linked to the actual Force of the spell smile.gif

Forensic Thaumaturgy Kit, kids. 'cause there's nothing scarier than a man with a ruler and who knows how to use it.
