Full Version: Adding Edge to Ally spirit

It says an Ally spirits starting Edge is equal to the creator.

And it gives rules for the ritual of change, where you can add more Force to the spirit, but it doesn't give a way or cost to increase Edge.

How would you handle this?

New snapshot of creators edge at each ritual of change? - Assign a Karma value to spirits Edge?

Edge is an Attribute. I would say that after the original Summoning, it would be raised in the same fashion as any other Attribute.

What he said!

But all its attributes are = Force, and are raised by raising Force.

Edge is specifically NOT = Force.

If it worked as you suggest, then it'd be created at Edge = Creators, then Ritual of Change to Edge = Force, losing or gaining Edge depending on the creator having more or less Edge than the Ally Force.

I suppose a ruling could be that the Ally gains the creatiors Edge whenever he alters the spirit.

Else wait until he has maxed his Edge before creating one. nyahnyah.gif

If you conduct a ritual of change and your Edge is different, the Ally's will be as well. No real purpose in having a cost to raise the spirit's Edge when you can so cheaply raise it ust by raising your own.

Thanks Frank. Its the solution I like best too.

i still don't really get why it should be that way . . once the ally is made, the ally is treated as a whole new independent being isn't (he/she/it)?
why he should be as lucky as the mage i don't understand either, but i will swing with being formed after his image more or less . .
but why should the allys edge decline if the mage does ritual of change and his edge has been lowered from the last time?

Do you have a book reference that states that a Spirit's Edge changes whenever a Ritual of Change is performed (assuming the summoner's Egde changed)? Why would Edge not be set in the initial Summoning, and then changed just like Strength or Logic?
