We know that the Space Needle, Seattle's most recognizable element of the skyline is still standing and New York's Empire State Building but what else is up around the world?

St Louis' Arch? Paris' Eiffel tower? Statue of Liberty? LA's "Hollywood" sign. What's up? what was lost?

Statue of Liberty?

Yes, it's still standing. More info in the months to come. smile.gif
Sir_Psycho
The NSF bombed the statue of liberty. We believe it was the french group, "Silhouette" that orchestrated the attack. They say that France was wrong to give the US the statue...

... Whoops. Wrong game.

Isn't the Eiffel Tower on the Shadows of Europe cover?
Snow_Fox
I was usuing that as a well known sky line item. Had I said Momarte (sp) or the CN tower it might have caused more questions from posters

The Brandenburg Gate and the Reichstag are still around, as well as Cologne Cathedral.

Heh. If that's in NAN territory, it was probably completed within hours using spirits.

It's Montmartre smile.gif

We know how hard to get is a Visa for a Shadowruner, but how hard is it for Average corp wageslave ?
That would indicate how is tourism going on.
I doubt Cancun is still a great toursim destination.
Most wild places now would not be a great destination.
South america in general would be too unstable to host tourists.
North America would face problems since both NY and LA (that are probably today's most visited cities in the US) as well as San Fransisco arent suited for mass tourism ...
In Europe, i'd say the same, save perhaps France and Italy, germany is definately too fragmented, and east europe unstable, UK too poluated. TNN is too closed to host tourists.

In fact, i dont see tourism as a mass activity in the 6th world, its too dangerous to travel, and most places are unstable.

Besides, you can visit in VR which is much more convenient.

Actually that was Alamos 20K and it was well over a decade before Bug City. The Sears Tower explosion led to the loop becoming the Noose, and the creation of the ghoul and ghost infested Shattergraves.

My Shadowrunners just visited DisneyLand, with Speeder the Hacker touring Virtual DisneyLand. biggrin.gif

I think tourism would work, in areas carefully controlled by corps. What would be lost are toxic areas, or civil wars-like Yucatan or the Philipines but most of France and Spain and italy is still available,. they might have infighting but everyone wants the tourist dollar.

Amusment parks like disney World florida and Tokyo and California are still going. Euro Disney? Pisa and the Roman ruins will still be there and Pompei and Athens. with the return of magic the Egyptian sites will get even more interest.

I shudder to think about what happened to Ottawa after it was no longer a capital.

It'd be a border town now, at least, so should live up to the origin of it's name, Odaawaa, "Traders". nyahnyah.gif

Most of the DC landmarks are still standing, although they're protected by rings of tanks and AA rocket launchers, with no tourists allowed. Pictures are by appointment only.

Baltimore inner harbor is still there, now dominated by a huge megamall (actually planned for construction around 2010, if memory serves). The Baltimore Aquarium has probably benefited from the huge chunk of change from DC annexing so much of Maryland and is more fantastic than it already is. Not sure if the Constellation will still be in the water, being another 80 years older. I'd hope so.

Kansas lost its claim to the world's biggest prairie dog when it was eaten by the world's biggest two-headed, fire-breathing turtle. You may see the world's biggest two-headed fire-breathing turtle at exit 142 off I-70, tickets are 15 nuyen.

In shadowbeat there was a jingle advertising simsense tourism. Realer than real, it's realsense - or something to that affect.

Seattle Underground is looking a bit different these days.

As is Club Pembina. Apparently it's getting a make-over!

Yes? It's also mentioned in Emergence.

South Dakota got split roughly in half so with it being in the Sioux western half it's probably safe. Of course that's not to say that during all the fighting or the final pull out by US forces that someone doesn't decide to bomb the place just to be nasty. If it survived whether or not it was completed might be another matter, there's apparently some mixed feelings about it from sections of the local tribes. Whether the Mount Rushmore monument which is only about five miles east of it survives is a whole other matter although after the genocidal campaign waged against them I wouldn't put much money on the Sioux being all that well disposed towards legacies of the previous regime. smile.gif

As for the original question as far as I'm aware all of the major tourist attractions in London and the UK as a whole are still about, I don't remember reading about their destructions in any of the sourcebooks. So you can still come visit the Tower of London, the Palace of Westminster and Clock Tower aka. Big Ben, watch the Changing the Guards at Buckingham Palace, get ripped off in Camden etc.

Interesting fact - the split is actually along the time zone line (discovered this while transposing the SR3 map to a RL map).
