Just musing to myself, but how did the moderator orange start?
Redjack
Not sure. As a newer mod, I simply conformed to the established standard. wink.gif
Aaron
On a tangential note, thank you for changing the canonical color for text messages from painful to readable brownish-red.
Redjack
As a caviate and addendum: Each moderator has the flexibility to use the color of their choice. The unwritten standard is then to include it in your signature for clarification.

As to the posting legend: Yea. Black worked great on the old board but is way to dark on the new board.
Bull
I think I started it. I've seen it used on other boards, and it's a nice way to identify Moderator posts, and gives us, as mods, the ability to post as "us" and as a Mod. To a slight degree, anyways.

I originally posted Moderator posts in Red, as this is my color of choice. However, it contrasts poorly with Black, and was hard to read on the old boards. So I switched to a more Eye-strain friendly Orange color. Most of the other mods have followed suit, and most chose to use orange, though as Redjack points out, each mod is free to use whatever color he wants, so long as it's consistent.

Mainly it's a tool to make moderator posts stand out a bit more, so that if someone's just skimming a long thread, they're more likely to notice it. And hopefully they won't skip over it without reading, and then do something we just told everyone not to do smile.gif

Yes, some of us choose other colors.. unfortunately my headache inducing purple is gone grinbig.gif
Ryu
Cain´t haz ´n purple colour choice? Why? Should go nicely with the green...
Tarantula
So what would happen if someone started using it all the time in their posts... as long as they aren't a mod, and don't state anything in their sig, its all good? nyahnyah.gif
Redjack
As a last resort for people who simply want to incite problems we have both the "suspension" functions & the "ban-stick".

*Psh* Whatever. Orange is so passe'. Gold is the new orange. wink.gif

There's no rule against it, it just tends to annoy people. *shrug*
Bull
Generally, yeah, we'd appreciate it if you didn't do that smile.gif

Thanks Tarantula for asking the question I was thinking, but didn't want to be slapped around for. Too many of the admins know what I look like...
fistandantilus4.0
Well, I don't. But I'll be moving to San Diego soon, so maybe that'll change. wink.gif

Hey, where's my picture? I know Bull took one...
BishopMcQ
Tiger--You are Here. Nice use of the product to hide the belly button piercing.
Tiger Eyes
Hm. I suppose folks would rather see Runners Companion than my belly ring. wink.gif

Sorry, you'll have to just ask those who were there, or chastise Bull for his photography decisions. wink.gif
Ryu
Bad Bull, bad!

Personally I was surprised by the ring, most women who have had children give up navel jewelry. (Inferred from discussions and posts. Visually, you can't tell that she has kids.)

That said, Tiger will give Adam a run for his money as one of the Catalyst booth babes.

Edit: Tiger--Should we stop teasing them now?

The hell she will! nyahnyah.gif
Tiger Eyes
Adam, we could take a vote on who looked better in their skirts, you or me! nyahnyah.gif (and then, of course, we'd have to ask if you went au-natural under yours... wink.gif ) Or we could take a vote on who wore their Catalyst shirt better. nyahnyah.gif

But really, I'm quite content being a booth-babe-in-training for the time being...
Caine Hazen
This means I gotta get back in the kilt this year and put you both to shame biggrin.gif

I leave all decisions about posing and the like up to the photographee. If they choose not to have incriminating photos taken, that's their call. Of course, for a small fee, I can play Paparazzi (The "real" one, not Adam's sweet new Card Game that I never got to demo) and see if I can do a little more damage... wink.gif

The problem is, of course, that I'm petite. (read: short) And that the much taller CGL folk who assembled the booth stacked product up so high that I could barely see over some of the displays. This photo, here of me, Peter, and Adam shows that my chin is even with the books on display. (and this was after we'd already sold a ton of books in the first two days) And next year we'll have even more Awesome products out to hide behind... wink.gif So Bull would have his work cut out for him. Then again, if more men wear skirts, he'll be busy taking their pictures so we can have a post here on Dumpshock Moderators in Kilts. (Bull, of course, will have to skip the kilt and go for the Pixie tutu instead. wink.gif )
Bull
Oh lord...
BishopMcQ
I'll bring my kilt...
Ryu
I see some incriminating pictures in the future of DS...
DireRadiant
Future?.... You are sooo behind the times.
