Full Version: Custom-fit and encumbrance
Dumpshock Forums > Discussion > Shadowrun

Hello,

Arsenal p.45 :
QUOTE
Custom-fit armor could either ignore encumbrance entirely, or increase the armor allowance to Body x 3.

What is the price to obtain a custom-fit ?

As in SR4 for Size Customization ?
QUOTE
Modified gear typically costs 110% of the standard price, though it may rise as high as 125%.

For example, is it possible to custom-fit a chameleon suit ? Lined Coat ?

If a character has 3 in Body, can the character wear a lined coat above a chameleon suit ?

Max Encumbrance : 9 (Body x 3), chameleon suit (6) + lined coat (6) = 12 (too heavy)

Thanks for your future help.

Its an optional rule. I'd probably say 125% of cost for customized if I was allowing it.

Just because it reduces encumbrance does not make it stack. Only FFBA stacks with other worn armor.

IIRC, size cusomization is only intended for adjusting normal-sized gear to dwarf- and troll sizes.

As to wearing your coat over your chameleon-suit: sure you can do it. But exceeding your armor-encumbrance will give you a negative modifier to your (IIRC again) reaction. AND wearing a long coat over the polymer suit also sort of defeats its purpose of being, you know, a chameleon-suit. wink.gif

Sure, but its pointless. SR4, 149, "If a character is wearing more than one piece of armor at a time, only the highest value (for either Ballistic or Impact) applies."

Yeah, if you want to increase your armor value, you've got to go with stuff like helmets or the PPP system in Arsenal. And the rules about custom fit are just suggestions for GMs running a high powered campaign to increase character survivability by letting them wear more/heavier armor. Any cost for custom fit would have to be decided by the GM based on the specifics of the campaign they're running.

I know.
But you had already stated that in your previous post, so I didn't feel it was necessary to repeat it... wink.gif

But you are right, it is a rule that especially new players, encumbered by rational thought and real-world reasoning, often overlook, so it bears repeating:

With the exception of helmets and the Form Fitting Body Armor from Arsenal, different layers of worn armor do not stack.

Of FFBA, helmets, shields, armor mods, and the PPPE system you mean. biggrin.gif
