Four players - two newcomers and two groggy initiates - seek SR4 PbP gaming.

We'd prefer this as close to the defaults as possible, but feel free to pitch alternatives. Setting's wide open.

We have access to the Core, Arsenal, Augmentation, Contacts, Unwired, Street Magic and the Runner's Companion - restrict as you like.

One player is, err..Sporadic. If he doesn't check in within the day, we'll have one newcomer, two groggy initiates and an open slot.

Drop us a line, will ya?
Karaden
So your looking for a GM then?

Edit: If so, I -might- be able to GM for you. All of the games I'm playing in are fairly slow right now, and the other game I'm GMing seems to have come to a stop, though I'm hoping to kick it up again here as nothing happened over the weekend.

That's about the size of it!

And that'd be just peachy, really. The rest of us born-again baboons oughta be reporting in within the day, if you'd care to meet the crew.
Karaden
Sounds good to me. See who we have and everything. We have 1-2 complete novices? Are you guys together that you can help each other out or should I expect to have to explain things to them?

Anyway, I'm off for a while, I'll check in in about 3-4 hours.
Markov
Reporting in.
GT3000
Ready and accounted.
Meatbag
We've still got quite a lot of reference material and regular contact with one-another, they've just got no experience.
BlackHat
Holy crap! If I had known it was this easy to get a GM to run a game on here, my old SR team would have tried this years ago.

Congrats, guys. wink.gif
Divine Virus
Yeah, way to go guys, I am kinda in awe. Maybe I will try a simular trick on a Mage: The Ascension forum I know of. I haven't had a good Mage game in years, and damn I miss it.
Meatbag
It's a bit shocking from here as well.

Don't despair just yet, though - Lazy McMook still hasn't checked in, as predicted, so we may have an open slot in around eight hours.

It's like the old saying goes: Ask and ye shall receive.

Back to the game. You guys are just wanting a fairly standard SR format? 400BP, no super crazy races, standard hook up with a Johnson and go do stuff? With of course plenty of twist and turns and other fun stuff thrown in.

Sounds fine. I don't mind you guys using all mentioned books, but I will warn you I haven't looked through Unwired, so don't expect me to make use of the advanced rules they present there (Though you are free to use them, such as the advanced programs and lifestyle spoofing and qualities and so on)

So, if you guys would like, go ahead and get together some character sheets. And before anyone asks, no possession traditions, I've found them to be more trouble then they're worth.
Meatbag
On Unwired: There's a Commlink Modification in there called a Simsense Booster - it provides another Initiative Pass in Hot Sim and *explicitly* stacks with Simsense Boosters from Augmentation, allowing 5 passes where they'd normally be capped at four.

You may want to use these, forbid them or remove the explicit stacking.

On possession traditions: FACK! Y'mean we can't bind Force 12 Spirits and jack ourselves to Agility 21?!

Fine, fine, can we still run all our buffs forever off a cadre of Spirits of Man?

(Innate Spell is a "power", "Continual use of a power" is one service, Spirits of Man get "any spell the caster knows" as an Innate Spell)

Handful of small problems, and one or two suggestions.

First off, I'm a little confused about this:
Pistols : 4
...
Pistols (Semi-Automatics) : 1

Did you take Pistols twice by mistake? Or are you taking Pistols as part of the firearms group and then getting the specialization for it? The latter isn't allowed, you get the bonus of cheaper skills via groups or the boost of specialization, not both at creation. You can however spec later and continue to advance it as a group later.

Second, ammo needs to be matched to a specific weapon, as do spare clips. A round for a sniper rifle is not the same as a round for a pistol (Though they cost the same) and the same is true of clips.

Third, Fake Licenses also need to be declared as something specific -and- linked to a particular SIN. And on the subject of fake SINs it is nice to include some vague idea of the SIN. For example is the fake SIN a deliver guy or reporter or something like that. This I don't require though, but it can provide a potential bonus in certain situations.

Fourth, Doc-Wagon needs to be linked to a SIN. I'm guessing it is linked to your actual one, but I just want to be sure on that.

Fifth, Spirit Bane affect a particular spirit, so you'll need to declare a particular one.

Other than those small errors looks fine.

Just to clear it up.. All of his slugthrowers have four clips. two regular (one of which is in the weapon) and two Ex-EX. The grenade launcher has two frag clips and two HE.

Yes, he makes chemsniffers EXPLODE. Thankfully, I doubt he'll ruck it all at once.

Also, the SINs are vaguely extrapolated. The licenses are: Driver's, Predator, M23 and Concealed Carry for both fake SINs. He likely has legal ones for his real SIN.

He'll have to correct the specialization and such, though.

See? Having players that know one-another has its advantages!
Whipstitch
Would you guys mind if I joined in? I could come up with a sheet very quickly. Thinking of playing an elven Face/gunslinger that's been around the block a few times but had a job go south and is looking to hook up with a crew willing to overlook his spotty rep. BTW, Karaden, how do you handle public awareness, Notoriety and Street cred? I was thinking of taking Bad Rep, Bad Luck, Hung Out To Dry and a pair of Custom Look revolvers. If you guys are full up or consider such a character concept to be too much of a potential pain in the ass (although, I'm actually a cautious player and would take the Common Sense quality; the character just has really bad luck), though, no hard feelings.
Meriss
If a spot opens up I would be greatly interested. I have a few characters I could haul out. It does look like you could use a wheelman. I have just the girl fer you. biggrin.gif

Indeed it is handy. Your character looks fine except that decrease attribute spell needs to be learned to affect a single particular attribute, you don't get to pick whichever you want as your casting it. (If I remember properly)

Edit: As for those others wanting to join, I'll leave that more up to the group, as they apparently already all know each other. They said that one person may or may not join, and if so his slot is free. I could likely handle 5 people, but like I said, I'll leave that to the group.
Felime
Lurker reporting in. been lazing around for a chance to join a game. I've played shadowrun before and love the system, and I've got a character I like, just, it seems nearly impossible to find a game for it.

I'll toss my name into the hat for possible replacements.

Edit: Thinking of playing a cybered Sniper/Gunslinger/Stealth specialist, favoring shotguns.
Whipstitch
For what it's worth, I revised the concept to a "handler" (bodyguard/face) that screwed up on his last job. Decent combat, excellent perception, very good social skills with a hefty dose of intimidation. Still would have a fair bit of notoriety.
Meatbag
I also know the incoming Rigger, and we do seem short on Matrix skills. so a Rigger would be useful (especially if she can also HAX)

No offense to the others, but Markov here is currently planning a Face/Spy, and I'd rather not have niches stomped.

Also, it's a Decrease Willpower spell - good for deeper probes, more painful Manabolts and longer memory alterations.

Meriss, yer in.
Whipstitch
Fair enough. biggrin.gif
Felime
A sniper still fits well. Lemme tell you, being the only character with stealth skills, especially as a face, is not fun. (which is what I'm interpreting face/spy as) I learnt that the hard way with my first character.

Edit: Missed the bit about Meriss being in, good luck to you all. With me luck finding a game.

Edition of edit: Say, all us lad and ladies rejected out to get together and try this again

Mandy is a very tightly built wheelman/drone rigger. But I suppose I can either tool around with her or try and do a more baseline AR combat hacker. Though I do have this idea for a ork razorgirl floating in the back of my skull. Preferences, spots need fillin'? I'm a fairly flexible guy. If the character is right I can play it till the cows come home.

@Unfortunate souls still looking: Keep at it guys. GMs aren't as rare as you think. Good GMs on the other hand..... I kid biggrin.gif We have a plethora of excellent GMs here. I've simply been super lucky.

@Karaden: I will be working Wednesday and Thursday night. Prolly be asleep most of Friday and away on Saturday and Sunday. So if I'm slow or seem to missing feel free to go ahead without me, I'll catch up.

That's fine, still waiting on a character sheet from one other person before much can start happening. Also I'd like some kind of background from everyon, doesn't have to be much, just want to know your character from Joe List-of-Stats.

Unfortunately, none of those excellent GMs seem to be starting up games left and right. I wouldn't want to start an avalance of "Hey, anyone want to GM for me" threads on your forum, unsullied(mostly, *winks in Meatbag's general direction*) by such things. I've lurked for a while, but the fact that games never open up, and that I'm a bit too new to shadowrun to contribute much to any threads was a bit discouraging. *shrug* Perhaps a sticky would be a good idea.

Name:Richard Descarnado
Race: Human
Magical Ability: Mundane
DOB: August 4th, 2045.
Career: Ares Security Supervisor, and Shadowrunner.

Background: Richard Descarnado loves his job at Ares, his relaxed attitude and mirthful yet disciplined nature tells the tale that it's an easier life than he used to have. He still maintains the grooming of an active duty soldier and his gear is crisply assembled. Like many honorably discharged vets, Richard fell into his job at Ares Macrotechnology headquarters in Bellevue. It didn't hurt that he was a Special Forces Weapons Sergeant with advanced training in Urban Ops. While he's lead a few lives too many he doesn't mind the pace of CorpSec as opposed to the spartan environments of the military under two different identities. Despite his wrinkled and exhausted appearance he leads a security section of the Ares Macrotechnology HQ, and his authority has garnered him many favors from those operating illegally on Ares CorpSec property particularly with his supervisors who understand the value of silence. His second tenure in the military under the identity of Johnathan Enrique as a Supply Sergeant with the 87th Mechanized gave him extensive hands-on time with military-grade armor, and he continues his tinkering out his cluttered apartment which is scattered with bits and pieces of both civilian and military-grade hardware. His source of materials comes from his former squadmate and friend, Will Renzi, who served with him in the 87th. Recently he has turned to Shadowrunning as an alternate means of income, and has found the work thrilling both emotionally and financially.

Random late night thought, where is this going to be based?

And brief Backgrounds on the girls I'm thinking of playing.

Mandy Pinkerton

Mandy is a cheerful maniac when it comes to driving her only real code being, drive fast drive hard and break every rule in the book. She has taken up done rigging to increase her usefulness in the shadows

Switch

Switch is night to Mandy's day. She is a tough no nonsense ork woman who enjoys nothing more than a good fight. If Mr. J. called Switch someone's gonna die. Pure visceral up close and personal combat.
Meatbag
We'll likely take Mandie. Much as I love the sound of a breaking skull, we have plenty of folks that can do that - and not a damned one of us can drive, save for the military man that'd much rather be on Tail Discouraging Duty. Besides, I like Mandie, very...

Spunky

But, Aradia!

She's a good 5'6. relatively dark-skinned and often dresses quite practically. She's quick with a jibe, and in proper company often acts as if her sense of shame were amputated at birth. Aradia's clothing nearly jingles with various charms, and it's a rarity indeed to see her without a corno amulet around her neck. These things (currently) have no real occult power, but don't try telling her that.

She was initiated into a hereditary witchcraft tradition at a fairly young age, mostly by her mother and grandmother - on the Italian side of the family. Her specific tradition draws very heavily on superstition and various bits of folk magic, and it colors her perceptions quite notably, sometimes earning her a few stares. She seldom complements anything without spitting at it, notes good fortune without knocking on wood, or allows her friends to pick up fallen knives.

Among her driving hatreds: Bigotry against the Awakened (including Technomancers, in her view), low-class criminals and sloth.

Among her loves: Other Awakened, even (especially!) those that don't share her tradition, the disturbingly rare feeling of having all the angles accounted for, and playing enlightening tricks on those that are worth the effort - especially the above hated groups.

Grendel is an example of why other metahumans love (or hate) elves: tall, well-spoken, and unnaturally handsome. While his clothing may change for the situation, he generally follows a code of "professional" dress, and is rarely seen without a tie.

Always quick with a knowing smile and a silver tongue, he's been able to glide through most of his life on charm alone. This talent has developed a degree of egotism in him, with each new challenge another test to prove how easy other people are to fool. He prides himself on his ability to get the job done, to manage any situation, and to retain his calm, cool demeanor under pressure.

Likes: Himself, security, wealth, beauty, anything done with remarkable talent or style.

Dislikes: Personalities similar to his own (though he'll deny any correlation between them), unnecessary risks, rudeness, chaos.
Meriss
Mandy is what most people would call "cute". She stands five foot even with corn silk blonde hair and crystal blue eyes. Her sense of style depends on her environment. If she's in her shop she wears oil soaked coveralls, if she's at a meet she wears a sensible grey business blazer and skirt, usually with a hot pink blouse. When she's on a run she wears an odd assortment of baby doll tees and a skirt or jeans. She always carries a Dunkie backpack when on a run. Her favourite tee is her I Love Dunkie shirt. Her hairstyle also varies but she prefers a neat ponytail when working in the shop, she tends to pigtails almost everywhere else. She almost always has a wad of bubblegum in her mouth.

Likes: Driving fast, doing well, fixing cars. Cute boys

Dislikes: Police, the rules of the road. Anything or one which restricts her freedom.

Appologies, but with finals I don't have a bunch of extra time. I've been working on stuff for the game. I have free time at about noon, so I'll throw up IC and OOC threads as soon as I can after that.

Don't worry about it. I forgot about finals. Heh, been a few years out of highschool and I always forget that final and semi exams are right around this time of year.

Which is really crummy when you think about it. Why would the school make you do more work right when Christmas rolls around?
