Full Version: Reducing TN Penalties Due to Damage
Dumpshock Forums > Discussion > Shadowrun
Fire and Chaos
I know stim patches can be used to alleviate penalties from stun damage. Is there anyway, aside from bioware, that can be used to remove the TN penalties from physical damage?
John Campbell
The spell Resist Pain comes to mind.
kenji
edge: high pain tolerance

or adept power: pain resistance (not compatible with above)

or: move fastah get hit less often. :]

that's pretty much all i know that *isn't* bioware. are there spells for it? ( i don't know the magic system's particulars. )

custom rule idea: perhaps allowing players to "suppress" the penalties with karma pool dice, for a single scene? probably dependant on using the slow-karmapool-gain system i've seen floating around here before.

Some drugs can also lesson the affects of pain by giving the character's temporary levels of pain resistence: Kamikaze, Bliss, and Nitro
zephir
The centering metamagic allows to reduce damage modifiers.
Glyph
Plus, unlike stun damage, regular damage can be magically healed - which, of course, removes the penalties.
Zazen
Oxy-rush nanites give a box of pain resistance.

The guardian angel implant can heal up wounds in a matter of seconds.

Where does it say that the guardian angel implant heals wounds in a matter of seconds? I remember them being able to heal wounds faster, but not that fast. Don't have my books on me at the moment.
Zazen
It uses standard first aid times in SR3. Assuming it gets at least 1 success, a light wound takes 5 combat turns (15 seconds), a moderate takes 10 combat turns (30 seconds) and a serious takes 15 combat turns (45 seconds). Extra successes reduce this time.

It doesn't heal them all the way, mind you. Just by one level.

Anyway, the ultimate pain resistance is a pegasus shaman in a Death Frenzy. Not only does he suffer no pain modifiers whatsoever, but he keep going even after taking damage that would otherwise kill him. You can run him over with a tank and he'll keep going for several minutes. smile.gif

At which point (s)he most likely dies.
Fresno Bob
Most likely she. No self respecting man would be a pegasus shaman.
mfb
the entire city of San Francisco would probably disagree with you.
Diesel
Which is why it's such a prime nuke target. biggrin.gif
Adarael
Feh, bollocks to you! San Francisco has a high amount of other kinds of shamans in it, too! Scum, Yuppie, Gutterpunk and Hippie are all popular totems, with 'Layabout Bastard' growing in popularity the closer you get to San Jose.

Though, with regards to the 'no self-respecting man would be a pegasus shaman'...?

What about Perseus?

Perseus? I'm /thure/ that he's _just_ as popular as Spartacus ....
Fortune
Perseus wasn't very self-respecting. Nor would I go as far as labeling him as a Shaman. He's more of a warrior-type with an exotic mount. smile.gif

If by "keep on going" you mean flopping around on the ground after the tank rumbles on, sure. grinbig.gif

More likely, whooping tank ass until he drops dead.

So, you are saying that half the population of San Francisco would definitely believe that a male has no problem becoming a Pegasis Shaman?
