On an unrelated note, for someone that has such a huge problem with the canonical description of LA in SR, I find it ironic you based a boardgame around it Frank.
Since it has become clear and indeed been written explicitly that I personally am
not allowed to discuss what I like and dislike about Shadowrun's Los Angeles, I will simply state that I had my reasons. There has been a call for more board game material, potentially set in Seattle or Denver. This may happen, but as things currently stand it
will not be posted on this forum.

Love the look of it, how long did it take you to make! WOW!! I must confess I am not a big fan of the horror/cthulu genre which you've mixed in there... but otherwise brilliant!! Respect
Thank you. I began planning/drawing/writing this project back in November. So from beginning to end it took me about six months during my free time between medical school classes and dodging the police. Game design is something that I like to do, and I don't do less of it because I'm not being paid. In fact, the money you get from working for a company is so laughable that it should be called "money." I do game design for the same reason that you play role playing games and you post on message boards about role playing games: because you like the worlds, you like the systems, and you like to talk about the worlds and the systems. And to be honest: the few cents a word they "pay" you to gt your stuff into a book are so negligible next to whatever it is that you do with the rest of your time that it's indistinguishable financially to make a project "for free" as to make one "professionally." Especially for companies that often pay their bills years behind schedule like FASA/FanPro/CGL. I stopped trying to get my stuff in official print by choice. Working for free is a better use of my time than working for a pittance and wasting additional time not doing game design or school work to deal with the company to get it.
But here's the thing: I don't like Dumpshock. Not any more. The moderators have said explicitly that there are special rules here that apply just to me. And they are bad rules. I don't like bad rules in any context, and when they are specifically written to exclude me personally my offense is all the more severe and all the more justified. This isn't an exaggeration or anything. Straight from the Bull's mouth:

Frankly, there's nothing really top secret going on with freelancer discussions, outside of unannounced products and plot lines. But it's incredibly tacky and amateurish for anyone that either is or has been a freelancer to be involved in discussions that are doing little except tear apart decisions made by those in charge, or ripping up the work of other writers and freelancers. It doesn't lead to constructive discussion about Shadowrun. And we don't want it on Dumpshock. Period.
Seriously. If
I, Frank Trollman, have good and bad things to say about any book or other media product past or future that any license holder of Shadowrun ever produces, that's something that is not wanted on Dumpshock. Period. Because it contained
anything negative about any other writer's work. And it came from me. And Bull
does not like me.
Well. As it happens, this isn't the first time Bull has thrown this kind of temper tantrum at me. But it will be the last. Because I'm not posting anything on dumpshock ever in the future as long as he has any form of power at all. I only came back and posted this here because Ancient History asked me to. Even that loyalty will not be enough to put up any further products I ever make here as long as the current power structure exists on Dumpshock. I don't know what secret sin I committed that so riled up Bull that he would hold irrational grudges for years at a time against me, and it doesn't matter any more. at this point, my grudge against him is not irrational and I will never let it go. He has abused his power, and so long as he has any of it I won't put my creative work anywhere his powers reach.
So this board game will continue to get support. I'll generate an FAQ for it once people have read through full copies and can start asking questions. But it will be on the Gaming Den and I
will not mirror that over here. There may very well be more Shadowrun material and more board game materials from me. But again, none of that will go up over here as long as Bull is a moderator. Full stop.
I will not respond to personal messages on dumpshock. There is a very good chance that after this my account will be permanently disabled. Bull may even go all juvenile and mark up my posts with colored letters so that he gets the last word. It wouldn't be the first time for that either. But regardless, he
will have the last word here because I'm not putting up any more words here whether I am "banned" or not. If you want to contact me in any way, I suggest either logging in to
The Gaming Den or sending me an e-mail:

Posting to this thread to bump it or level condemnation at one party or another is fine: it will get the board game more exposure, and I appreciate that fact. But it will be an ineffective way of communicating thoughts to me and will be a wholly nonfunctional way of eliciting a response of any kind from me.
