Dragging humanity headlong into the sixth world. (Now if only they could figure out how to reawaken the magic.)

Oh wow if that's doing what I think it is then I think I know where forums/IRC is headed. DS should jump on while it's fresh. It fits the whole SR idea.

still, the edit wars are going to be epic. i hope someone is ready to become ol' cap...

Oh yeah, that's *just* what we need. Realtime communication on Dumpshock to give us even less chance to cool down between comments, and to let shitstorms get even bigger before the mods could conceivably intervene. That would be *awesome*.

Spiffy. I can see several applications for this.

Holy hell. If this catches on (and really, why wouldn't it?), this could redefine electronic communication across the board. DO WANT.

I've just applied for sandbox access with the aim of making a Dice roller gadget for wave to help the playing of RPGs over the real time environment. The basic rolls for d20 will be easy enough to implement once I understand the API better though I'm still think about a good way fro SR and WoD dice and other such rolling. Though TBH just displaying all the rolls would work if a bit slow to count on the larger DPs.

I applied as well.
As for the diceroller, it doesn't really matter if it's a bit slow to count the dice, either the players will get their first and type it (they can all see the dice, so cheating won't be an issue, and if only one person can see the dice, the machine willl verify a second later), or the machine will take a half-second longer to print the result and still be faster than humans.

Yeah tbh I think I'll got with a robot. Then I can have it make forms to use a char sheets ect and post to the wave XD.

It wouldn't be too hard likely to add a few extra lines of code to do a success tally. For fixed TN games like SR4, it's instantly easy. For variable TN, just make it part of the command line

Yeah its probs one of the easier parts. As I'm still struggling with the API plus I'm not experienced with either xml, java or python so ill have to learn as I work. Also I can't seam to find a way for a robot to read text yet it must be possible. My plan is to make use of the real time and have the robot run the dice roll as soon as its typed. So you type for example [roll: hits(>=5)12d6 reroll(6)] and you would get the results for an normal SR4 roll with out glitches I plan to have some RPG systems in standed e.g. [roll SR4 12 edge] would be that same plus taking in to account glitches. I also plan to use a from of formatting to show its not just been tampered with may be even the full roll in a wavelet after the summary. This all depends on how well I can grasp the API and my free time.

I'm sure there's something in there for it to read text. After all, the Rosie bot they showed at the end was reading and giving a result instantly. (I won't say more for those who haven't seen it yet. Truly amazing)

Yeah I was being stupid> Lack of skill in said languages and a quick glance at the API.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/open-platform/bl...ogle-wave-hack# does that for his robot witch is one reason I'm using python.
