Full Version: Unknown Armies style rumors

I just noticed a similarity between Unknown Armies and Shadowrun. Probably old news to people here. Anyway, here are some UA style rumors. Lets see if this catches.

- If you open an AR chat window while standing near Chen's Burgers in Seattle, at midnight on a moonless night, after five minutes someone will start chatting with you about
something you really, really, don't want to talk about.
- If you look at all the 2071 series of cyberware made by SK in all of their UCAS factories, you will find the number 666 embedded on the metal at a point behind the elbow.
I hear it's a huge ritual magic by SK demonologists to summon an army of demon spirits.
- The entire elite corporate management of Shiawase has been replaced by shapeshifters. All of them are currently in a secret moon base, no one knows why.
- If a technomancer turns into a vampire, he can hack into other technomancers and drain their mojo. He can then turn others into technomancer-vampires with the stolen mojo.
I saw it happen just last week.
- They lied to us again. Magic works just fine in space, but if you try it, the corporate court sends their elite assasins after you. No one knows why, except a hacker called Singular.
I heard this from him.
- There's a street doc somewhere in new orleans that can install cybereyes that let you see the astral. His price is really high, and not in nuyen.
- The mars base thing is a sham. I mean, there's a base, on mars, but it's a dimplomatic outpost, for negotiating with someone, or some thing.
- If you count to 42 while walking in the street, viewing AR, and look back just before saying 43, you might see someone following you, wearing a dusty yellow coat. If they try to message you,
don't answer, seriously, DON'T.
- You know those snuff BTL's ? Well, someone is spreading life BTL's, records of some tribal witch giving birth. My friend tried it, now he's in a coma. But I hear that female magicians trying them get a serious boost to their
magic.
Ruin-Gar
~A friend of a friend of an acquaintance of mine says that Aztech has this new line of nanobots that get dispersed amongst the populace like an STD, and activate when they detect the DNA of select targets.
~Did you hear about that gang in the barrens? You know, the one with the red mohawks? They were all found dead in some alleyway the other week, their hearts exploded out of their chests. An old pal of mine says that they all took a bad batch of that new drug, and a toxic spirit got a whiff of them. Rumor has it it's the result of some kind of drug-based ritual.
~Swear to God, don't buy the new headware coming out from SK this year. It was tested on orphans, and somehow the new merch is astrally tainted somehow.
~See this fur lining on my coat? It's wendigo fur. Don't tell anybody, though, 'cause it might torque off some trigger happy ork or trog. Yeah, I swear man, ever since I started wearing this shit? My combat spells work, like, ten times better. I mean, hey, I've noticed I've been angrier lately, but whatever. I'm just like, in the zone.
~You know how you can't use magic in space? Well, I heard that the closer to the Earth's core you get, the stronger your mojo gets. But you get sick real easy when you cast deep down.

What is unknown armies?

Not really sure, even after reading the rulebook. It's a tabletop role playing game, dealing with supernatural weirdness.
It's based in a twisted version of our own world, with an addition of a strong supernatural underground.
Each part of the rulebook has a "rumors" page, much like the shadowrun mini-stories.

Oh, and the combat section starts with a page dedicated to avoiding combat.

Edit : I just remembered that the game has a porn actress than ascended into godhood in the middle of making a movie.
She's a sort of femininity/fertility goddess, and that film is now something of a holy artifact.
