Okay, it's been bugging me since I got the book and I just want to know what other people think.

What the frag is going on in that picture?!? What is the human in the background doing?

I can't tell if he's impressed that the trolls arms aren't being ripped off by the recoil, or if he just spotted the Devil rat swarm thats about to drop on his head.

Or why said HMG has three barrels? Or why the troll is about 5 1/2 feet tall? Or what disease has that makes his legs tiny? etc...

In all the sourcebooks and modules from 1st ed to the present, I'd be hard pressed to find 20 illustrations I liked.

That's funny. I always thought the cover depicted a Dwarf with an LMG, who looks big due to perspective. After all, I don't think grenades on the belt of a troll would look so large, and a human behind a troll would look a lot smaller.

I think he's trying to make faces, while the troll shows off the most ridiculous weapon he has managed to get his hands on. I was going to comment on the "HMG" in question, but then I decided that it was kinda pointless...

It is most certainly a dwarf.

While we're on the subject, if my dwarf had his meat legs replaced with Troll Cyber-Legs, would his running multiplier become 3? I think he could look humans straight in the eye.

BTW, compare the troll-dwarf's outfit and hair and looks in general to the one on the cover of SR3. Pay special notice to the pants, hair style, and the size relation between arms and legs.

Looks like an ork, sorta. Remember, the heavy weapon requirement is body and strength of 8 to fire from the hip like that. an ork could easily start with that unmodified.

I think the humans face is due to shrapnel from the door (blown by a gernade from an underbarrel launcher?) which has painfully lodged in his groin. (dont you just hate it when that happens?)

Could very well be from a Trid show, or BLT chip, where an ork actor player the part of a troll. Would explain countless stupidity (and fasion statement pants)

To me, it looks like they just burst into a large clock tower through the clock face. Right shape, gears in the background support me. Could be some other things though. Wouldn't a clock tower make a great secret hiding spot for a super villain?

the similarities between the troll on SR3 and the troll on CC is less surprsing when you realize the same artist did both.

i've always assumed that the human didn't get enough successes on his surprise check.

The Human - Looks like a Bruce Willis clone who realized that it's not all like "Die Hard", it's mostly like "Last Man Standing."

(Or sheer shock at the Troll actually USING a gun that big without some sort of mechanical recoil-modifer system.)



...And I LIKE that troll. Lots of bad-taste and big guns. Need more of it, rather than "Oh, looky, secure long coats and sunglasses - must be another shadowrun team."

two words: dramatic license. The pics have always been more comic book than realistic, and that's cos Shadowrun is everyone's favorite action movie with magic thrown in. Read Judge Dredd. I defy you to find a gun that would actually work or that woudl work without killing its wielder. Its a style thing. Frickin' kewl guns and disproportionate body sizes, that's what its all about, terms!

The human has only just noticed that the [insert Troll/Dwarf here based on personal judgement] is wearing a fluffy bunny tail on the back of his trousers, under a little sequined logo that says "Babeliscious."

He is now reconsiddering the sleeping arrangements at the team safehouse.

as asstastic as this picture is, it is nowhere near the horror that is the old street samurai catalogue. the crap monkey on that cover has brought (literally) hours of laughter and ridicule from my group. from the patchy died hair, the san fran stache, the huge tube sticking into a receiver on his leg over and through his pants, to the wires hooked into his neck with a clip(?) hanging off of it, not to mention loads of other things that make it horribly bizarre to look at, that picture takes the ass cake.

I imagined the human as yelling, "NO!!!" at the top of his lungs because he sees the opening contains explosives or explosive gas which will transform the opening into something resembling the business end of a cannon when the troll pulls the trigger.
