Right.
So either we all need to go 'chase scene downtown? Let me get my coat!' or someone needs to make with the phone calls and matrix searches and hanging people upside down from balconies until they tell you what you need to know.
I'm just saying.

Or have people stopped checking this?

Right. Since no one disagrees, in 24 hours, this plan hits the streets. If there *is* anyone not playing anymore, we'll sure as hell find out then.

I really apologize for my lack of interaction. Having a hard time finding my book and just cant afford to buy the pdf. However, the good news is that last night I found my other sr4 book in storage so when I get home from work, Ill look up the best way to go about doing what I want to do and post then.
Once again..please forgive me

I'm still very much in the game. I just don't like to make a bunch of unnecessary posts. Also, I'm trying to figure out how Bodhi would react to this plan and what exactly she would do to carry her part of it out. But insofar as me keeping up with it and knowing what's going on, I'm on the friggin' ball.

Awesome.
As for stopping the train, it'll be like so:
1) Get closeish to it.
2) Hacking + Exploit (Firewall +3 for security acess, 1 Initiative Pass)
3) Give the stop command (I won't require a test.)
4) Hope you're not too late and he's still on the train.
5) Deal with any IC present.

As you can tell, I glossed over a thing or two.
1) I figured any team that can't steal a car shouldn't be in the shadows, so here's the deal I'm cutting you on a free car. Permanent modification of the car in order to keep it will require some hardware modification while you aren't moving. In the meantime, you're spoofing a GridGuide signal that should give you a couple hours free and clear with this vehicle (A Ford Americar or equivilent.)
2) Generic maintinance workers garb is also a must-have for any 'runner worth his salt, so anyone that needs it, it's yours, complete with generic tool harness to conceal a weapon and/or some gear.
And I need rolls for screwing with the train, Blitz. Rokur, when you get back, I'mma need to know if WF and Lada are on bike or in car.
All those driving (presumably WF and Bhodi), I'mma need some driving rolls for my own edification. Nothing too hard, just don't glitch.

Here's a really stupid question, how exactly are we planning on gettin onto a moving train? Lada is not built to climb or perform jaw dropping feats of daring do. My expectation was we climb on board at the next stop like sane people.

yes, the plan was to catch him at the next stop
Also, about driving. WF only owns a bike. Dunno what Lada owns...
but biking, usually done by pilot... but if you would want me to react manually to abnormal traffic or something
Reaction (2) + Driving (-1 for defaulting) = 1 dice
3 = 0 hits....

Jun 5 2006, 12:30 PM
No Pilot Ground Craft skill for the driving test, so I'm defaulting to my Reaction of 4 (4 - 1 = 3.) However, when she gets in I'm going to have her use an AR overlay to help her navigate the city grid and aid her with her turns and whatnot, so I get a +1 on the driving test for a total of 4 dice.
<SR4Bot> Abschalten rolls 4d6 and gets 2 hits and 0 ones, with the following rolls: 5. 5. 2. 4.
2 hits.

Duh...*not very perceptive today*
Ok...I think I understand, but bear with me. Still trying to get a firm grasp on this and dont have the book.
Hacking - 5
Exploit - 5
As a Technomancer, I have to run Hot Sim all the time, which gives me a +2, right?
Not sure what the Firewall +3 is for. Do I roll my Firewall +3 or is that the other side of my opposed roll?
EDIT: Also...when using my Registered Crack Sprite, I can assign it to aid me in the test adding its "force" as additional dice, correct?
Rokur
Jun 5 2006, 09:29 PM
that's your TN.... no idea what the FW actually is... so just roll an extended test... and we'll see how long it takes to hack in? However the longer you take the higher a risk of being detected by IC... so thus the risk.
Large Mike
Jun 5 2006, 09:42 PM
The normal TN is equal to the Firewall rating, but in order to get security access (required to do anything more than look at the trains instrumentation) you need three more hits than that.
Now that you're taking a look at the system (and 'cause I didn't bother making one before) you can tell that the train has a Firewall of 3. Yes, I'm certain that there is some kind of perception or sensor test I should have asked for but: 1) Be gentle. This is my first time running 4e hacking 2) Fast and loose works pretty okay in the short term.
So, as a recap: Trinity, Hacking+Exploit(+any modifiers you may have to apply) extended test please. TN: 6
Blitz
Jun 5 2006, 09:51 PM
By target number, I assume you mean the number of successes needed to gain access (as all TN's are 5)
In that case, here's my roll.
Hacking: 2:3:5:5:2
Exploit: 4:6:1:6:2
Force 5 Registered Crack Sprite: 6:4:2:3:3
Now here's another question...
If doing an extended test, I continue making the same roll, adding my success (with each new set of rolls equalling a new time segment). Does my crack sprite continue to help on each successive test as a single service as it's all one overall test? Or does his service only apply to a single roll?
Additionally, what is the time segment? minutes, hours, days?
EDIT: Can someone please verify what the bonus is for Hot Sim? I'll need to add that in.

I want to use my intrapersonal skills for reading people and get a better profile on this guy from what little the Johnson-o-mat gave us.
So, what sort of dice roll do you want?
Large Mike
Jun 6 2006, 01:00 AM
Time segment is one initiative pass. I'm going to call the whole thing one service from the sprite.
Nikoli: Do you mean take the info on the profile and get a feel for actual personality? And if so, what are you looking for, specifically?
Nikoli
Jun 6 2006, 01:03 AM
Basically, Lada's primary weapon is sex. She uses seduction to work past peoples defenses. She's trying to figure out how to best approach this guy and if she's even remotely his type, like does he have the subtle tells of someone who's type she wouldn't be.
Blitz
Jun 6 2006, 02:02 AM
I believe Hot Sim is +2.
3:3 - figures
Ok..since I achieved the required number of successes to gain access to the base node, but not the security level, I will continue my hack into the second round. I believe this means Im in, just not as high as I want to be. You get to roll analyze+firewall against my stealth which is 5 in order to detect me.
Hacking: 5:4:1:1:3
Exploit: 4:5:4:1:4
Force 5 Registered Crack Sprite: 6:1:2:5:4
+2 Hot Sim: 4:4 (this is doing me no good

)
Im waiting to post the flavor text for that test so that others can respond to Lada's post and we can get close.
Large Mike
Jun 8 2006, 12:28 PM
Blitz: You're in. Give whatever commands you like. Also, to your knowledge, you've not been spotted. Either one of us can do the flavor text on it. For simplicity sake, either tonight or tomorrow morning I'll put it up if you havn't already.
Nikoli: I don't have your sheet on this compy, so if you have a people-reading skill, that would be my first instinct, second choice is whatever skill you are basing your sex appeal on (even if it's ettiquette), third choice is perception. The info from the file doesn't really lead towards personal tastes, so you'll have to impress me on the roll a little bit. (If you *really* wanna make it, I might recommend some Edge use.)
General note: The train, in case anyone didn't know, is up off the ground by about a story or two in most places. It hits closer to ground level near some of the stations. (I've never been to Seattle, but I've been told it's much like the SkyTrain in Vancouver, so that's what I'm basing it on.) So if it's a random stop mid-trip there's a pro and a con. Pro: There's only two ways he could run. Con: You have to get up there.

I would think in Seattle 2070 it would be VERY high by now, having to navigate over most of regular buildings which can be up to 4 stories tall... and navigate around the skyscrapers....

I'll go with perception
As for skills: Perception 5(9)
If applicable I'll include Kinsetics separtely
[ Spoiler ]
"The adept is also gifted at reading others’ body language
and cultural-specific affectations and mimicking their cues to her advantage." excerpt from SR4
Rolls:
My gut instinct is that I apply the actively looking bonus and the object far away because the pictures and information are static. Hence why I want to see some live footage form the train as we approach, but oh well, it's the big time.
Total dice sans kinsetics 13
3 hits, using edge to reroll non hits.
+2 hits
If kinsetics (+4 dice) will be applied: 3 hits
so total 5(8) hits to read this guy and get an idea of his tastes (sexual proclivities, etc.) and how to best approach him. [Kinda like thos FBI specialists that look at someone's handwriting and tell you the person who wrote it wets the bed, has an over developed edipus complex with his mother and dresses up in baby doll clothes.]

Blitz: 1, 6, 4, 3, 5, 4, 1, 2 = 3 hits.
Nikoli: It's a little tough to tell through video feed and when he's stressed, but combining his mannerisms with his file, your best guess is that he would lean towards the sensual exotic. You would imagine he likes his women either very obviously ethnic or modified. High energy types are out.
Blitz
Jun 9 2006, 03:37 PM
What would be involved in trying to either amplify any sound inputs the train security has in place, or actually trying to hack his direct AR to see what he's talking about or who he's talking to?

Audio perception test
-2 Distracted
-4 Subvocal mic
and I'm guessing another-2 for the mic not being all that close.
for a total of -8 dice and a pool total of 8
3 hits
Disguise programming test
3 hits
Application of the disguise test
3+2+4
4 hits
The disguise is something that is a blend of acceptable to keep job and attract our mark. Makes her look like she's undergoing facial reconstruction to have more cat like features, but when on the clock it's covered a little with makeup, so the physical changes are lessened but still visible and the coloration changes if any are barely hidden by makeup (I love the uses of nano-paste)
Voice control will also be used to help change the voice to match the apparant modifications.

Nikoli: There are no audio pickups on the cameras in the train, and between you and him is either vehicle walls, noisy traffic, two stories, train noise, and train walls. Frankly, I don't care how awesome your listening skills are, unless they are *very* magical, overhearing what he's saying is impossible.
Blitz: Same as before except a Matrix perception test in order to detect his PAN first. I'll get you the what to roll and the TN in a couple hours when I'm back at my books.

Blitz: My ETA to rolls was blatantly wrong. That's just kinda life around here.
Anyways, by the book, it'd be Electronic Warfare + Scan (15, 1 Combat round) to find his PAN, but that seems a little rediculous to me in this particular case. So we'll call it an extended Electronic Warfare + Scan (5, 1 Combat Round) to find the PAN, and then a Hacking + Exploit to get to the creamy center.
Ab: Be back with that info in a jiffy.
Blitz
Jun 12 2006, 02:29 PM
Alrighty...I dont have the scan complex form yet, but I do believe I can fake it. I did it once in the tabletop game I was in, but forgot the basics. Can someone check the book and let me know what's involved? I believe it's called threading?
Abschalten
Jun 12 2006, 06:33 PM
Threading is Software+Resonance. Every hit adds 1 rating to a Complex Form you do OR don't have. Then you have to resist Fading which is equal to the number of hits. If the new rating of the CF is more than your Resonance, then the Fading is Physical instead of Stun damage. Mininum DV on the Fading is 2DV, I believe. Fading soak is Willpower+Resonance. You can reduce the number of hits as you wish if it's too many. Sustaining a complex form, however, is -2 pool to all tests.
Blitz

Are you sure it's software? I thought that skill was phased out as per the errata...
