Badger, my character, should be arriving in your inbox RSN (real soon now). Or at least, a draft -- I still need to add the prices and whatnot to his gear list. I don't have my rulebooks with me and need to consult them before the final draft.
Most of the details are in there already, though.

I'll probably put the IC topic up tonight some time, feel free to start posting.

I ran out of things to spend cash on and I'm working on fleshing out ~10 contacts. I might be a day or two getting you the full writeup. I'll see if I can't get the BG to you tomorrow sometime, though, along with the majority of the final character sheet

Then I'll post.

I'm still working on Stitch. Should get him done by either late tonight or sometime tomorrow.

Hi. Are you still accepting players? I have a character pretty-much ready (named Lilt) who should be portable to the game. I've played him a coupple of times, when you say that you'd prefer characters with past running experience; do you mean characters who have accumulated karma/cash in other games? Or do you mean non-"I was just chucked out of a corp" runners?

Oh hell, man. I wasn't even finished with my character yet (I've been rather busy these last couple of days). I did finalize my contacts and juggled all my resources, though, so you should be able to access them on the same link. I'll get the rest done as soon as possible.
I'm going to go ahead and post my first move anyway. I hope you don't mind if I change the atmosphere just a tad to make it more appropriate for what I see with my character; the meat and potatoes remain the same, only the description of what's going on is slightly altered. If it's a problem, just let me know and I'll try to avoid doing it in the future.

Thanks again. And if you need the link, just send me a private message and I'll hope you up once more.

To be thorough, take this as the final word on your character Lilt. He looks fine and will be a great addition to the team except for a few minor snafus.
Knock the ID rating down to 6. ADPS and Glazers need to be ditched. Telecom should only be 150 unless I'm mistaken.
I'll update the IC topic around two hours from now hopefully.
TFB, what you did was fine and even preferable. I'm trying to stay true to your characters, but I want to get more a feel for them before I really up the specifics of things like that.

Nov 4 2003, 11:43 PM
Phew. I just spent the last coupplea hours redoing him, nice to know he'll be let in. I'll send you the character file from NSRCG.
Anyway: I cut his contacts back a fair bit but fleshed-out the ones he had (renaming Fexler to Leo). I've already done what you advised and the character should be fine by the standard chargen rules.
[edit] Ack just read that again. is it OK if I re-do a couppla other bits? Largely removing some of the weapons, ammo, grenades, and skillchips? I was going to play him less combat-style[/edit]

Have we decided if we're going to be an established team or independant contractors for this first run? If the former, should we give a bit more information about our characters here in the OCC thread or whatnot?
I'm game either way. Personally, I find going the independant way is best in a new game as it seems more natural and is a lot easier for a bunch of players who are strangers to build their bonds and tactics up from scratch than trying to pretend that they've already established them (and often times being disappointed when everyone walks over everyone else's toes during a stressful situation). But like I said, I'm game either way. It's totally up to you guys.

I reckon independant contractors is a good way to go. It's fun to roleplay IMHO.

Kurukami, I had something special planned for your character as I did for each of them, but if you want the same as Valentine, that's fine by me. Saves some effort on my part. I haven't yet recieved your final sheet, but as I've said before it can be a bit slow.
TFB, what you did was fine. I'll try to add in more fluff like that as I get a better feel for your characters.

Cheese -- I'm a bit confused about your last post. When are we supposed to meet at that location? And no time was given either unless I completely missed it (which is very likely).

TFB, you'll have to forgive me for not having access to any of the books specifically detailing Seattle so I couldn't say if it was in the Renton district. It's meant to be on the eastern outskirts a little north of I-90 not that it's a terribly important fact.

@TFB -- Wow, that's a ton of background material and stats you've got for Valentine on that host site. Love the detail... even though, from the IC descriptions and whatnot, I had assumed he was a decker of sorts.

Me neither. That's why I was planning on checking the location out. Perhaps the variety of place we'd be meeting would shed some light. (Nightclub = Late ETC.)

Me either. As for the clue ('for the question of when, the answer is there, just think about it in an "extreme" way'), what could it tie into?
Let's see... the passcode: 1337-5347? But it doesn't really make sense that the meeting time would be a part of the access code, rather than of the message itself.
Something the cartoon hero meeter-n-greeter said?
QUOTE |
It was a cartoon super hero in the vein of those back in the ‘90s like Mighty Mouse and the Darkwing Duck. A high pitched voice emanated from the animal, “I see you are interested in my proposition. Ostentatious.” The way he said it screamed that his was a catch phrase of his and that he’d be saying it a lot. “I will meet with you in person on the 20th. The details have been attached to your persona.” |
Looking at it from a warped perspective, it might mean to meet upon the 20th hour -- 8 pm. But that's a wild-assed guess.
Or is it something that was in the file?
QUOTE |
“You and your would be team mates will meet with an associate of mine at the corner of 198th and Tamperton. Come alone, without weaponry, and curious. There we will iron out the details of what you’re to do for me. As a word of warning, don’t try too earnestly to find anything about me, I assure you it will come to no avail and possibly it may incur personal injury in some way shape or form. There is little you need know now, though I will entice you with a meager morsel of information beyond what I have said. You will performing an extraction of sorts, if you have predetermined objections to this, I suggest you back down now.” |
Or ... hmmm. Badger looks at the icon of the piece of toilet paper. By chance, are the details of the meet written on it?

Nov 7 2003, 02:21 AM
Hmm. Perhaps it's written on invisible ink on the toilet paper... Perhaps if the correct action is performed then the message will become clear. Now... What action should that be?

I thought that it may be something the cartoon hero said but I can't see any hiden messages there. There's the message that twitchy got about arriving in his suit but we don't have that.
Anyway: we were told that the details would be in the message we were given so let's analyse that:
QUOTE |

Or, if you want to take another step further back, we were told to meet at a location that is roughly east from the seattle center. The only details we were told about the meet were that it is at "the corner of 198th and Tamperton". If we were to look at the map of seattle as a clock, then this would be about 3 oclock (I'm vamping-up the weirdness magnitude here)
Another possibility is that any time is good, He merely said that he wanted us to go to the place, and to be curious. IE: heading there early in the day might be good.
I'm strongly tempted to go back to the cartoon character and ask it what time it wants us to meet.

So did any of our Matrix contacts turn up some information about this guy's name, or about the Valdez Intramural League?
The Frumious Bandersnatch
Nov 7 2003, 10:50 PM
I've been curious about that, too, especially since most of us checked him out before the "warning" not to.

Anyway, for the meet, Valentine is wearing one of his Vashon Island suits along with his Form-Fitting Body Armor and Forearm Guards. He brought two of his Savalette Sentinels, Walther, batons, and two grenades with him, but they were left behind in Harlot before he approached the hole. In addition to those items, he also has Cadbury (his Pocket Secretary), his Skillsoft Jukebox, his Pager, his Cellphone, his Fake IDs, and select items from his Potpourri on his person.
He's still patched into Harlot (with a rating 4 Telecomm Link program) and has her Sensors 4 displayed on a semi-transparent window via his Image Link. Cadbury is likewise recording any and all discussions into his memory. He also has his Interrogation (effective rating of 5 with a Task Pool of 3 available) ActiveSoft loaded so as to act as a walking lie detector, though he'll switch to Negotation (same rating) later during the meet if/when necessary.
I think that about covers it.
