What's the karma cost in cash? I may well want to initiate as well (since doing this on a small sum of resources looks chancy at best, I'll probably have plenty to spare).

Duly noted.

I just sent you a rough draft of Simon Laughing-Snow, my character, just to make sure we're on the same page. He still has quite a ways to go, but hopefully you can get the drift of where I'm going with him.

5K equals 1 Karma. However this is a GM's call. He could easilly say more, or less.
moosegod
Nov 21 2003, 09:18 PM
But since this is the first time he's done this, he won't.
And I assume you aren't trying to cheat me. Because, if you are...

Geeze. I'll try not to go overboard, but let me know if I do
Shadow

The 5 to 1 is in the back of SR3 or the SR companion, I can't remember which. So no cheating, honest.

Tribal affiliation folks- gotta choose one.
Check the intro thread (yellow lettering) for which.
Anglos would have to be from a pinkskin tribe.

Actually, the Shadowrun Companion (page 80) suggests 3D6*100 nuyen per Karma points (averaging 1,050 nuyen per point) in one section, while another suggests between 100 (in a low resources/karma game) and 1,000 nuyen (in a more upscale game) per point.
...and cripes, that red is killing my eyes. I had ignored it originally and I can barely read it now. Can you change it to something a bit more friendly for my aging eyes?
moosegod
Nov 21 2003, 09:38 PM
I dunno. Well, see how much you can do with 5k/pt. Then we'll go from there.
Those of you who sent me sheets, I made notes and returned them by e-mail.
Changing color, too- it's yellow now.

My guy will be a Lakota, from Northern Montana.

I am a little confused... Is this a group we belong to allready, or one we can join after game play starts, or one we can join before game play if we pay the Karma....
moosegod
Nov 21 2003, 09:57 PM
You can join before play. There is another guy in it that you'll meet in game. So, we just need 1 player to join it.

Yeah, I don't understand this whole initiation thing. What gives? I thought we were just some special forces operatives.

The Sioux Wildcats have always been very magic heavy. That's why I'm allowing it.
I'm a gonna need some hosting for the site I will inevitably have to build. And suggestions?

Brinkster used to be a good site back when I still needed a free one. That was about six months ago, so I imagine they're still pretty good.

The only thing that blows is that you have to pay to gain an FTP account, otherwise you have to use their web interface (which isn't that bad, really) to upload your pages.

I've heard Brinkster went downhill... However, if it comes down to it, I can possibly allocate some space for you. Just have to get an FTPd going again. I could possibly even provide some semblance of an e-mail account, providing I figure out how to set up the blasted thing.

Is Cheyenne going to be where we're based?

It's in the Sand Hills, by the Calamus Reservoir.

Nov 22 2003, 06:54 PM
Groovy. Much obliged. Any chance you can give us a more detailed description of those two Contacts we have? And are they free contacts in addition to our normal allotment or do we "have" to take them as the two free ones we normally get? (Seems kind of a waste like that.)
moosegod
Nov 22 2003, 08:09 PM
SRComp says you have to take them.
I'm gonna stick with that- you guys aren't going to be doing much legwork.
and here is the awesome site I just built:

So, do we have a team name yet (for the team and the iniatory group)?
moosegod
Nov 22 2003, 08:49 PM
No, I'm leaving that up to the group. Of course, you'll have a unit idenifier, but anything else is your choice.
Best name (meaning the group and I like it the most) gets bonus Karma!

Screeching Eagle?
Er... Sounds too close to "Screeching Weasel," some random emo band I have.

I know! The Screaming Eagles!

Nov 22 2003, 08:53 PM

I'm never good with naming. I don't get karma.

Actually, I was referring to the 101st Airborne...
I hope there isn't a band named that.
Tanka
Nov 22 2003, 08:58 PM
Fair enough. There might be, though. You have no idea how many wannabe bands there are in the Pittsburgh area... I have no doubt there's one in the US named the Screaming Eagles.

Turns out the Sand Hills are UCAS territory
The base is in the Badlands, now. Note- this is also a religious site from some of the tribes.

The questions been asked but I didn't see an answer. Do we get any equipment for free?
Ol' Scratch

So sue me. I like to give details on things.

Or wait, are you saying that we're being forced to live in communal barracks or something?
moosegod
Nov 22 2003, 11:08 PM
No, you have your own small houses/apartments either on base, or the military gives you a stipend to go rent one, preferably nearby.

I think it's fitting that my codetalker's a Navajo, eh?
How about the Fighting Wombats!
Ol' Scratch
Nov 23 2003, 01:14 AM
Wombats? Wrong continent, I think.

Hmm, how much are we going to know about each other's abilities and whatnot? Should we end up posting our character sheets so that everyone knows everyone else's strengths and weaknesses? Or maybe just send them to our NCO so that he can make better command decisions in the field? I dunno. Just wondering.

Also, as the Demolitions Expert, I'm a Sergeant First Class, right?
