I'm not very strong on the 6E lore at all. I do focus on things related to Seattle since I have a personal interest in the setting.

I'm in a weird place with respect to 6e stuff. Basically I don't like some of the high level choices (they are steadily killing off the corporate old guard, for example -- one or two was maybe fun, but I feel they are now dropping iconic figures too quickly), and it is still Catalyst with occasionally intrusive editing or math issues ... but for the most part the execution and writing is pretty good. If you leave out the first six months or so of products I'd say above 5e (and at that Cutting Black at least did a lot of things, even if it repeatedly committed the cardinal sin of not giving GMs even a hint of what was actually going on).

In my home game I was so desperate for prepared material for when my imagination was dry, all through 5e. Now there is so much 6e stuff that I want to run that I can't fit it all in. (still running games in 5e, just converting).

Started the Bellevue chapter last night. I'm only a few pages in but I'm skeptical so far.

The whole "corporate DMZ" seems a bit silly. I suppose it depends on your interpretation of what life is like in the Sixth World. Execs from rival companies sending their children to the same school? What corporation would allow that? But I tend to think that any rated corporation will have educational/indoctrination facilities of their own. Maybe they're just referring to the execs of non-rated corps, who send their kids to private school like they do in the present day, but the book mentions that four corporations (MCT, Gaeatronics, Microdeck, Centurion) employ over half the district, so that doesn't leave as many people left to be sending their kids to these common schools.

There's a mention of the Duwamish having a land claim in Factoria. Yes, historically there was a Duwamish village there, but this dispute is new and hasn't been part of the lore for the last 30 years. If anything, it goes against the history of the Treaty of Denver making Seattle and extraterritorial free city, with Mercer/Council Island being retained as an extraterritorial district where the Salish-Shidhe Council maintains a diplomatic mission. The best I can figure is that now that Seattle is "free" the Sea Dragon is entertaining historical claims that weren't recognized during the Treaty of Denver years.

And "the Belle" is something that has never been said in the actual city of Bellevue. It feels like a cheese grater every time I read it. The point of nicknames is often to shorten the name or make it easier to say. Guess what? "The Belle" has two syllables, just like "Bellevue". No benefit there.

I haven't gotten too far into the mini-arcology thing yet. It sounds interesting but, honestly, I would have put it in a different district. Historically (in the Shadowrun timeline), arcologies were meant to be self-sustaining colonies, a place of relative safety where - like a castle - you could just lock things down and keep the outside world on the outside. Canonically, this was relevant during the 2050s and 2060s, when there was still rampant gang warfare at night, even in the AAA districts. I always loved the idea of the Halloweeners tearing up and down the streets of downtown Seattle. That level of danger and uncertainty would certainly explain the appeal of an arcology to the masses. So with all that said, why would the mini-arcologies be located in Bellevue of all places? There are certainly zones that are still rough and tumble where they would make more sense to me. Maybe the mini-arcologies make sense near the border with Redmond, as a sort of wall between Bellevue and the Barrens. That would be near SIS, so that could come into play somehow.

I admit that my positive attitude may have been coloured by reading Puyallup first, where they fleshed out the district more than I'd seen in the past. For Bellevue I had no real idea on reference points for "The Belle", and I'm still not sure what a "micro-archology" is, so my take was more "they are doing something different, so it is interesting to see what, if any, of that we want to incorporate."

I'm not entirely sure what a mini-arcology is either. The original idea behind the Renraku Arcology was to build something self-sustaining. There were hydroponics and aeroponics, waste processing, and fusion plants in the basement. I want to say that it had a contract with the city of Seattle to provide water, but perhaps there was such a surplus of power from the fusion reactors that they could have purified and desalinized water from Elliott Bay.

But, to your point, what's a mini-arcology? Can it generate its own food and power? Perhaps during the 2060s and 2070s they have scaled down the technologies to make that feasible. So are they just elaborate apartment/condo/co-op buildings?

I strongly suspect that the chapter had multiple authors. I haven't seen the expression "the Belle" mentioned in the last two or three pages. I thought the content about places to go in Bellevue was stronger than the initial part of the chapter. Here's hoping that trajectory continues.

We know "that there is some sort of personal connection to it from whoever carried it before it ended up under the pillow," and, "the feather does not belong to [Belenkiy]."

Maybe the GM is subtly steering us away from trying to use ritual magic on the feather, but Mato would think that it could provide worthwhile clues. (Of course, Mato isn't the one doing the work.) If the ritual gets popped like the last one, we know that there's a connection to the owner of the feather and we can lean harder on that line of inquiry. If the ritual does not get disrupted, then we'll potentially generate a lead to talk to.

In the end I went with just dropping a point of handling and having a concealed taser -- allows it to swarm with the Flying Eyes (Aunties and Uncle), use the same autosoft, and be less illegal. (also it has a cranked up visual sensor, so it is her key drone for perception tests).
