While the astral search is going on, Chauncy sends up his zeppelin to take a look at the outside of the building, looking for where guards are posted, as well as possible points of covert entry, trying to determine where would be the best place to sneak in. He also noted the position of windows and skylights. If they needed a sudden distraction, nothing like ramming a Stratos through a window with it's machine gun blazing. He leaves it in position so that while they're running it can keep him updated on what's going on outside.

Guard positioning seems pretty tight, they have 4 guards posted to the outside of the building and are having them rotatae clockwise around on a hourly bases. At no one point is there a time when all sides arnt watched by at elast 1 person but each side then only has 1 guard at eny givin time.

"I'll keep my eyes peeled, and my guns warm for trouble," he said, launching both the zeppelin and the stratos. sending the former up to four hundred meters, the latter only three hundred meters up, before sending them both to hover over the target. He slung his RC deck over his shoulder, tossing his ruthenium poncho next to Big Dog's driver's seat. A mental command activated Prowler, and sent her through her warm up sequence. "I think we should take the van within two or three blocks. We'll still be out of their sight, we can deploy from there, and when we're done, beat a discreet retreat back to it." He look amongst the team. "Any objections, or are we ready to roll?"

Chauncy gives his thoughts on the building layout. "White, I'm not sure what you saw on your Astral check, but they probably have the strongest concentration of guards on the SW approach, since that looks the most like a straight, sweet run to the flag and back. I think we should take out the guards on two, maybe even three walls simaltanously. I can use Buzzshot and Prowler to take out two on the sides we're not going in on. Since they probably have a check in routine, if one guard goes down, they'll know the attack is coming from that way. If three go down, they won't be sure, and probably split up. Either the west, or the south will be our best route through. When we get the flag, we should see how clear that SW route is. Since my drones will still be outside, I can have Prowler bust down the door, letting him and Buzzshot in, taking the defenders from behind, while we've got their attention up front."
He looks distinctly uncomfortable about something. "The biggest problem with this scenario is the heavy drone work. It either means my meat body stays in the van, and doesn't go in at all, or... someone is going to have to carry me when I have to jump into the drones. Those will probably also be the periods when we're under heaviest fire, so it's going to be a liability."

"Is it possable that the conjerer could stay with you and control his spirits from the van? If not, I gess I could carry you, buy im not that strong, for my kind im a weekling. I would still be abble to cat my spells though. Otherwise maybe D would do it."

Ghost stands at the table the map spread out infront of her. Pointing to each area as she speaks.
"Hmm, Presuming that the top is north, I recon we hit the North, and West,East sides. Leaving the "easiest" route, guarded. Should confuse them a bit more. Concentrate drone action on the north and west walls Especialy that open area. If you have a spare drone, drop grenades and flashes on the east side, and we enter from the south. Any sort of spirit and illusion help on the east side would work as well."
"I think we split into two groups. One works its way in the from the south then along the west side. Till they can move to the middle. I'll go east side from the enterance and try get in. Once both groups are in position. I'll move for the flag you guys provide cover and a distraction."
"Alarm systems are going to be a problem. Could we try get a scan of the area to pick up any sort of command center that might control this aspect of the compound. If we can take that out first might help."
"We could split this into a two phase attack. Take out the permiter guards. Lay down some heavy fire into the base with drones and some illusions. If we can target the command center take that out, otherwise prehaps work on getting myself in. Then we wait an hour or so before hitting them again and the rest of the team penetrates the base."
Looking up at the rest, "I'm used to working alone so some of these might not be entirely practical. What you guys think?"
Sandoval Smith
Mar 23 2005, 03:15 AM
"I'm not sure about the splitting up part. Given the number of guards that are going to be in there, having anyone go solo doesn't sound like the best of plans. Also, given the time frame, and the fact that they know we're coming, if we hit them, wait, and then hit them again, they're still going to be on heightened alert.
"It's not elegant, but I think this is an operation that will favor speed over subtlty. We hit three sides, go in through one, and try and take the straightest possible line to the flag, then come back out through the forth side. I'm going to stay in Big Dog. It's got the power amp to cut through jamming, and then no one will have to worry about hauling around my unconcious carcass while I'm rigging. Take along my Spyder drone. It's small enough to fit in a pocket, can peak around corners without being noticed, and has an intercom so I can keep you updated on what's going on outside."

Chauncy's plan in summation: Hit three sides at once: north, east, west. Everyone enters through the east side (the north and west side will be attacked by drones), and heads for the flag. Stuff happens, the flag is obtained, everyone heads southwest to the exit. More drones and a van cause trouble on the outside, allowing everyone to escape. Return to base for victory beers.
Gremish, what kind of doors and windows does this place have? If all the entrances are three inch thick blasts doors, and it has no windows at all, I'd like to know that before I start trying to ram drones through them.

Mar 23 2005, 05:13 AM
Chauncy taps his fingers together. "Hmm, with one guard a side, I don't think the drones will need backup. So that means we can hit all four sides at once. I'd suggest keeping the rest handy for use on the inside though, in case you run into unexpected awakened opposition, or guards behind fortifications."
Tashio
Mar 23 2005, 07:59 AM
"Yes there are guards on the four guards on the outside but there are also sixteen odd more inside. Those ain't gonna just sit around and wait for us. They will most likely respond."
Pointing to the large area in the south east corner. "Is this inside area or an open courtyard? I'm not to keen dashing across an open area."
Sandoval Smith
Mar 23 2005, 08:59 AM
"I am assuming that as soon as we hit the guards, they will know we're coming. We might be lucky, and they won't notice anything wrong until the ones outside miss the check in, but I'm not counting on that. So when all four outside guards go down, they won't know which way we're coming in, or in how many teams. They'll either split up to cover all approaches, or all fall back and cover the flag, which will make them very vulnerable to flashbangs, and splash grenades. The actual point of entrance really isn't that important at this point. Whatever is closest to cover should work fine."
Tashio
Mar 23 2005, 11:46 AM
"Agreed. Unlikely that they will go unnoticed very long even if we take them down quietly. Also remember these guys have had what 13-14 days of practice. They should have their defence pretty tight. They will probably be expecting a variety of attacks and have defences prepaired. We're going to need to be fast. I'm sure some people have already tried what we are planing."

"Let's begin," Chauncy says simply, jacking into his network. Overwatch is already in position observing the building from above, as is Buzzshot. He directs the rotodrone over to the building face opposite the one the team is entering through, keeping it at the same high altitude until everyone is ready to go in. He stopped the van long enough to drop off the team, and Prowler, ordering the drone towards its position on its face of the building, keeping it out of sight away from the open space until the appropriate time. Then he pulled Bigdog back out into traffic, setting it to circle the test site, blending with the rest of the traffic.
