hey I saw several of the features of a ganesha changling in the companion book (tusk, trunk etc) but not the elephant head. Is it a 25 pt. deformity?

Anyone know the complete set of features I should use?
Karoline
Larger Tusks 10
Proboscis 10
Gene Freak -10 (elephant head)

So basically a class II surge.
Glyph
For positive metagenetic qualities, I would take Rhino Hide, Larger Tusks, and Proboscis. Negative qualities don't match up as well, but I would probably take Vestigial Tail, then maybe 10 points for the combination of the elephantine head and the huge ears (I would only give them 5 points each, because their freakish appearance is the only drawback. Higher-rated negative metagenetic qualities such as Cephalopoidal Skull and Deformity also give specific dice penalties). I would consider them Class III SURGE.
limejello10512
wait it specificly states ganesha is a class III surge and gene freak is an regulary negative quality from augmentation and not a surge quality.
limejello10512
Actually I think shiva arms are a definite but I'm more dumb founded about the elephant head.
Karoline
They don't have shiva arms according to the description...

Also, gene freak is specifically mentioned (Along with a bunch of others) As a quality that can count towards surge.

In addition to the metagenetic qualities introduced below,
the following qualities available in Shadowrun, Fourth Edition
qualify as Metagenetic qualities (see Qualities, p. 77, SR4; New
Awakened Qualities, pp. 24–28, Street Magic; and Augmented
Qualities, pp. 20–22, Augmentation).
Other Positive Qualities: Astral Sight, Biocompatibility,
Double Jointed, High Pain Tolerance, Magic Resistance, Natural
Hardening, Natural Immunity, Quick Healer, Resistance to
Pathogens/Toxins, Spell/Spirit Knack, Toughness
Other Negative Qualities: Allergy, Asthma, Albinism,
Biosystem Overstress, Disease Carrier, Gene Freak, Low Pain
Tolerance, Nano Intolerance, Reduced (Sense), Sensitive System,
Uncontrolled Metastasis, Weak Immune System

So yeah, I did forget about the elephant skin then...
Larger Tusks 10
Proboscis 10
Rhino Hide 10
Vestigial Tail -5
Gene Freak -10 (elephant head)

Perfect 30/15 spread.
limejello10512
okay here is what I am picturing:

shiva arms: 15
Rhino hide: 10
larger tusks:10
proboscis: 10

total: 45

I now need 30 negative... I think.....
deformity (quasimodo): 25
and maybe (as per glyph's suggestion) vestigial tail for 5?

still that seems kinda ad hoc....does anyone know what the official ganesha head should be?
limejello10512
actually karoline I think you might have it....

it does imply that they can have shiva arms (I think) but I think I like your spread better

A good example of such a gestalt in Class Three changelings
are the so-called “ganesha” changelings, named after the Indian
elephant god whom they resemble. They are basically elephantheaded
humanoids, with huge tusks, elephant-like grey skin, large
ears, and a prehensile proboscis (or trunk). Astonishingly, this
combination of traits mean ganesha “incarnates” have never been
object of hatred and social marginalization within Indian society.

That is what I went off of, I didn't see anything about shiva arms. Perhaps you are thinking of Nartaki, the human metavariant? They do have shiva arms.
limejello10512
Yes I was about to bring that up, they do, as do a host of others bare in mind it's mix and match and ganesha did have an extra set of arms...so I'm sure there could be a ganesha variant with a shiva arms mutation.

....it seems he was a nazi too

anyone ever see a rerun of that old 70's show kolchak the night stalker....remember the hindu nazi episode? lol
BookWyrm
No, limejello10512. The swastika, as used by the Nazi Party, is slightly different. Use Wikipedia to clarify.

And yes, I remember that episode of Kolchak-The Night Stalker.
limejello10512
o_O...............................okay bookworm see this is why I was proselytizing the sarcasm symbol....in short.....it was a joke bookworm.

I mean I even referenced the episode with the hindu "nazi" to imply the joke about confusing hindu and nazi symbolism. Or maybe you were joking about the wikipedia thing? either way sarcasm symbol......
BookWyrm
No problem, limejello. If I came off too heavy-handed, I appologise.

Don't forget the 10bp of restricted gear in the form of a r6 maglock passkey and a high velocity Stoner-Ares M107.
You know, since Ganesha is the god who opens doors and clears the paths. sarcastic.gif
Glyph
But if you have the high velocity Stoner-Ares M107, do you really need the r6 maglock passkey?
Brazilian_Shinobi
Because there are times when you want to open a door quietly? =P
