Lok1 :)
Dumpshock seems to have caught a bad case of vampire flue latly and I think I have just the cure:
A vampire/evil magic hunting playbyforum speciality game.
The idea would be a group of PCs that for some reason or another have a vendetta against the infeccted and their ilk, a small idealist group with specialized skills who work for a commen goal.
Though primarly based in a hated of vampires their specific skills could be employed for other tasks that though they could be handled by most runners are better with a specialized team. Basicaly hunting down and containing all kinds of magical neer-do wells, from toxic and shadow spirts to baddy Vampiric technomancers. The possabiltys are limitless.
So what do you say dumpshock? Intrested?
I'd be willing to GM but If someone with more experince in the shadowrun realm would like to I'd love to play.
Karoline
Hehe, should check out my L4D game on the welcome to the shadows thread. Has come to a bit of a stop due to players missing, but hopefully will pick back up after the holidays. Still, sounds like fun. I suggest moving this over to the welcome to the shadows area though.

I'm afraid I was at least partially responsible for the vampire plague currently infecting Dumpshock.

hehe... can I play my possession based, earth-crunchy, Birkenstock wearing hippie who summons plant spirits to hunt vampires with?

*lots of giant angry trees.

the only plant spirits you can conjure are cannabis plants. not very effective against vampires, but you DO get invited to all the best parties.

Very interesting concept, especially considering their allergy to wood... Speaking of which, if my group ever encounters vampires, I'm totally fabricating wooden grenades...

"Dude...Those weed plants are totally dancing, man..."

"I know, dude...Dude! Look! You see that Troll?"

"Yeah..."

"We could totally eat that Troll, man, it'd only take a second!"

Vampiric technomancers.

Give them the echo that let you pull people into VR just by touching them and the mist form and you get one of the biggest threat the sixth world has ever seen: a mist that can kill or change the behavior of nearly everyone it touches.

Sorry to break your fun but Runner's Companion p. 79 states: "A character with any Infected quality cannot take any quality that grants Resonance (and loses them if he previously possessed them)."
Blade
I know. I was saying that in reaction to Lok1's "Vampiric technomancer".
And for some GMs, rules are for PCs.
Mercer
Yeah, I've always treated a sourcebooks, "You can't do this" as "No one has ever seen this before".

Sounds like a fun game. But before you go and try to recruit some players, know that most games that try to get started around this time of year tend to fail due to the holidays. Your best bet is to wait a couple weeks until after the new year rolls around. smile.gif I know I'll certainly try to get in if you run it here. I love themed games.

It would be intresting to see if with all the experments on TMs lately someone found a way to endow a vampire (or even a mage) with Resonance.

It's easy, you just attach them to Tesla's Earthquake Generator and turn it on and tune it properly and... oh, wait nyahnyah.gif

Honestly, I don't see what the problem is. Get any of the infected to Essence 0.99 and they lose their Magic and awakened status. I don't see any reason one with Latent Technomancer couldn't have that event trigger their transformation, except for the footnotes that rule otherwise for no particular reason.

It's even odder since the designers and a frightening number of players see technomancy as the "opposite" of magic, as opposed to just another brand of it. It's odd because that very concept works flawlessly with that transformation. You could even describe their increased technomantic powers as them embracing their magical burn-out.

The other side of this would be "The Monster Squad". A vampire, a shapechanger, a ghoul, a cyberzombie and the possession spirit we're talking about in the other topic. Maybe a merrow on retainer for those jobs in international waters. And a mummy, or at least a corpse wrapped in toilet paper.
Justin
*someting something* Belmont + monofilament whip + weapon focus. Go!
Ol' Scratch
Infected with Obscene Agility Score + Agility Boost + Improved Pistols + Smartlink + Firefight + Krav Magna

Don't bring a monowhip to a gunfight.

This could be interesting. A cabal of vampires and various other assorted paranormals. Could do all kinds of interesting stuff with that.

But.. But... Its a "Vampire Slayer" whip. A Belmont family tradition.

Sounds good, be sure to post up a link to the recruitment thread. I may join up, not 100% sure yet. Have to consider the concept, wood and silver bullets could get expensive biggrin.gif
