Oh, right, the long outage made me forget that I wanted to do a knowledge check too.

Int 4 + LA Club Scene 1 + School of Hard Knocks 1 (6d6.hits(5)=3)

What is your knowledge check for exactly? What do you want to learn?

Basically anything I might know about the club. What types go there, what kind of clothing one should wear, type of music they play, food they serve. I figure I won't know anything real specific since my skill is fairly general, but I figure I might know a bit.

Good to know for those of us without clubbing knowledge and who didn't want to risk a 1-2 dice data search. wink.gif
Jacket will take the hint to "dress well" to mean that he should wear his suit.
I expect that at least half of the team will be dressing to stand out. Jacket, on the other hand, could easily be mistaken for someone's bodyguard or private security staff.
[This] is basically the look he'll be going for.

Shame no one already knows each other, then we could really pull off the bodyguard disguise. Of course there is something odd about someone showing up to a meeting about becoming a runner and having a bodyguard.

Just a tad bit off, yes.

Just waiting for Mister Juan to post IC and then I will move the time along to the next morning, giving News, Blog, and Media Gossip information for the day, as well as the weather forecast and the traffic report.

You can me News Anchor Trigger, and this is the LA News. smile.gif

What's the consensus on the empathy software now, Trigger? If they are banned I'd like to redistribute the nuyen.

What's the consensus on the empathy software now, Trigger? If they are banned I'd like to redistribute the nuyen.

Actually, I have been thinking about this, and I think that a good balance with the Empathy software is this:

When using the Empathy software to aid in a test, first make a test using the Empathy Software's Rating as the dicepool. The hits scored on that test are added to your Social skill test as a positive dice pool modifier. Edge can be used on the Empathy Software test, with hits capping at the Empathy Software's Rating. A glitch on the test results in the program having trouble reading an aspect of the person it is reading, applying a -1 modifier to the next test using the Empathy Software against that person. A critical glitch on test results in the system incorrectly identifying the emotion of its target and applying a negative dice modifier equal to half of the programs rating (rounded up) to the Social Test on which it is used.

I figure this is like the software running a Judge Intentions test every time you use it for a Social Test. (The text on Empathy Software allows you to make a Judge Intentions test with it, using just the Empathy Software's Rating as the dicepool, which is where my idea for the way to run it came from.)

My thoughts on this ruling is because the emotive recognition software is relatively new in the game, and thusly not perfect, and also because I do not think that the software would be able to always accurately read people's emotional state by their face and body language. An orc or troll's mouth area is going to show emotional changes differently than other metatypes dues to the presence of tusks. With people watching things in AR all the time, you can't accurately tell what a person is feeling by eye movements and where they are looking.

What do you guys think of this?
Fuchs
It sounds good and makes the thing less unbalanced. Can one buy successes in that test too, and what about modifiers to judge intention test (like those from mood hair)?
BlackHat

So it effectively turns it into a teamwork test. I like it.
Karoline
I like the ruling too. I mean, the description does (I believe) say that it is basically used to determine how someone is feeling, yet nothing else that does that gives you bonuses to social dice, and especially not that huge. And after all, while knowing what the opponent is feeling can be an advantage, it isn't going to instantly turn someone into the god of all social situations.

Wonder what happened to Mister Juan. He was going to have his post up right around when DS crashed, figured he'd have noticed it was up again by now...

Perhaps you should continue it on a bit? He can always post what he did the previous night after you post what is going on in the morning.
Embers
I agree with turning the emoti-toy into what amounts to a teamwork tests. A traight 6 dice bonus is too much, but some bonus is definitely reasonable.

Yes you can buy successes, and yes the modifiers to a Judge Intentions test (like those from mood hair) will apply to this as well.

Adjusted sheet to the changed rules.

Jacket will arrive ready for "work". He will be wearing his body-armor under his armored suit, and will be carrying both of the firearms he has permits for - the semi-automatic taser in the concealed holster in his suit-jacket, and the Slivergun in another concealed holster at the small of his back. I'm assuming Holywood security is good, but he's a licensed bodyguard, and will keep his weapons on him until someone says something. He's wearing his skinlinked shades, earbuds, and subvocal mic, which are connected to his commlink. His microtranceiver is on hand, as well, but he doesn't have anyone to talk to at the moment. He won't want to go all the way home to pick anything up, so he'll have brought his slap-patches and, say, two handcuffs.

Basically, he's bringing everything except his spare outfits, and leftover handcuffs.

Kinky.

Anyway, I won't likely post until late tonight. I have a report I need to get finished up and them I'm going for a fairly long drive to be with my family for the holidays. I may post earlier depending on just how quickly I get the report done or if I need and can squeeze in a nice little break.

Yeah, if the fixers ever let us know how many people would be on the team, he'd have brought some for everyone. wink.gif

I should probably mention that Sarial has the following in the Bulldog:

1. Rotodrone with White knight and 250rnds of explosive ammo
2. Iball
3. Stormcloud
4. another 250 rounds of explosive ammo for that just in case moment
5. personal armour. Though if he needs to put that on were in trouble.

on him

1. Contact lenses
2. Ear buds
3. AR Gloves
4. Commlink

in the chair in the smugglers compartment would be the taser. Hes not wearing his armour right now

One thing im not 100% on is just how big a medium drone is compared to say the inside of the van smile.gif
Karoline
From what I remember a medium drone is going to be about as big as a dog (of the middling breeds like doberman pincher or German Shepard), so generally not too much of an issue for the inside of a van.

Yeah, that is about the size I consider medium drones to be, so it is just fine inside your van.

Yeah, I have been waiting for Karoline and Mister Juan to post before I move it further ahead. If they don't by the end of the weekend, I will just move on without them and they can catch up if they are still interested in playing.
Karoline
Sorry, been busy at home thanks to my toilet breaking and just spending some time with the family. I'll post a bit later tonight. Been trying to figure out what to wear wink.gif

Really odd one. Removing shoes i understand, but what about the wheel chair? Can Sarial actually go into the private room sat in that or will he have the undignified crawl on his hands routine?

Well, you can either roll in and park yourself next to the table, though you will be at an odd height for eating, or the waiter will offer to help you get seated (by having one of the stronger waiters come and lift you and help you get seated on one of the mats on the floor). Your choice.

@Embers

Did you want us to read the spoiler (about assencing I assume) and handle it ourselves, or did you spoiler it so that Trigger would resolve it? I'm fine either way, but didn't want to step on any toes. Emotional-state information is probably easier for us to do, anyway.
Embers
I spoiled it because it was game mechanics not because I didn't want anyone to read it. Anyone should feel free to read anything I spoil (wow that sounds weird). In this case for Jacket, she got 4 hits on assensing him. I don't really care who does the info, just that I get it at some point. With 4 hits she'd learn an awful lot about him, likely more than the GM would have all of the answers to.
BlackHat
FYI, the same goes for anything I spoiler.

With 4 hits (wow)...
[ Spoiler ]

Edit: Anything else you think I should list, just ask. You got a lot of hits. Jacket is an open-book, aura-wise.
Embers
The most shocking part about it is that I had to leave her stinking at something magical since I focused on the active stuff:

Sorcery 6
Counterspelling 4
Summoning 4
Binding 4
...
Assensing 1
Karoline
Just an FYI, when I say 'charm' in my posts, I mean the Glamour effect that she has.

Also, playing may be a little sketchy until about the 27th-ish for me as I'm visiting my Grandparents for Christmas. It shouldn't be too big a problem as they have internet and I'll be bringing my laptop so I'll have books, but time to write up a post might be a problem as I don't get to see them more than once or twice a year.

I'll be sure to make an effort if we're waiting on me again, but figured I'd warn people.
Trigger
@Karoline:

You don't have a P2.0 (Pito) account, so your PAN cannot link to it. That was one of the things I wrote in the Recruitment thread for this game, the fact that none of you have P2.0 accounts yet, and the fact that there are very few new accounts in LA.
Karoline
Ah, sorry about that. I wasn't quite sure if we had them or not as I thought it might just be setting the mood in general, and not necessarily that we didn't have them yet. I'll edit it.

P.S. Did anyone else get hit by that snow storm? I finally got out of the house (For something besides shoveling the driveway) for the first time in a while today.
Trigger
Snowstorm, in LA? Hahahahaha...... I wish we got some snow in LA.....

Careful about that wishing. My friend was praying for snow here in NC and we got over a foot of it. I keep saying that she prayed too hard, especially since it knocked out her power for a few days.

@Edit:Fuchs:

About your last IC post, well, you know what Apollo looks like, or maybe you don't, but if you do, you know that the ork that entered is not Apollo. Apollo is an elf (it said so in my first post smile.gif )

I have been laughing to myself silently as I read you all IC waiting for Apollo to show up, you novice runners you. Why would the fixer show up at the meet with the Johnson, the J's not trying to hire him.

(Sorry about that, this is what I get for trying to post while sleepy on Christmas Eve)
Karoline
I never said I thought that ork was Apollo. I think you've got me mixed up with someone else.

Yeah, that was why I mentioned not being sure if he was coming or not. I thought maybe I missed something saying he was meeting us here. biggrin.gif

I fixed my post - my charater would not have a mistake I made while posting late at night.
Mister Juan
Hello everyone! I'll try to make a very long story short: I've been absent from the boards, and dozen of other places for the past 2 weeks or so, because I found myself in car accident. I'm far from being in tip top shape (cracked 2 ribs and my right forearm), but I'm still whole, and now back home. I apologize for not having been able to get word out before. Since I'm pretty much confined to my house for the next month or so, you'll probably see a lot of me wink.gif

Anyways, sorry for any delay I may have caused in anyone's game!
BlackHat
Hope MJ is recovering nicely, and making a gratuitous bump to the IC and OOC threads to keep them from rolling off of the second page.

I will continue the game after you post smile.gif

Well, since I had been in the hospital for a long time, I wasn't sure if the game was too far ahead for me to jump in. I'll have a post up soon then!
