Okay, so I'm planning on a run within the week, and I plan on giving out schematics for vehicles and weapons for rewards with nuyen. I usually give 10k, but I'm wondering how much I should detract from the cash reward to balance out the schematics.

It depends on what the schematics are for honestly. A good guide is to use the "PAYDATA STREET COSTS" from page 205 from Unwired. Schematics might be a bit to much, they are either worthless or worth a whole hell of a lot.

I'd suggest CAD/CAM files for manufacturing some accessories. It would allow anyone with the proper gear/facility to produce the parts and would probably be worth 10x to 50x the retail cost of the part that is being produced.

Seconded, it really depends on the product, but detailed specs (detailed as in "load them into a nanoforge and get the final product") will easily be worth a few dozen times the value of the end product, with no upper limit.

But the problem I see is that most runners don't have an assembly line in their backyard, so all they can really do with the specs is sell them...which makes rewarding the players with specs not much different from the straight "get the data to Mr. J for x nuyen.gif" job. Of course you could create a follow-up adventure where the runners try to find a buyer for their data, without alerting the original owner...

It depends on what the schematics are for..

Schematics for fairly normal vehicle and gun modifications are basically worthless; a good matrix search will turn them up anyway. It's only schematics for something rare and unusual that are worth nuyen.

Most schematics worth money will be for things so cutting-edge that PCs have little means to use them (they're not necessarily in the business of selling the results either).

That said, some nuyen.gif ideas:
- Ally/Free Spirit formulae
- Initiation Thesis (counts as ritual link)
- Formulae for powerful foci
- Nanoforge tech (kept secret by corps because they threaten their sales position)
- Weaponized nanotech
- Paracritter genome sequences
- Source code for security programs/OSes (helps in finding better Exploits)
- Floorplans for secure facilities
- List of secret facilities/locations
- List of covert agents
- Black market dealer's sales catalog
- Modification schematics for unusual vehicles
- The Black Budget proposal for a major corporation
- SOTA software (perhaps even useful to the PCs, but it might do something obscure, like satellite photography analysis)

I think you just inspired about a dozen runs in my head...
