Full Version: [ooc-recruitment]Its all about the Nuyen : Recruitment

Given the loss it seems of three players from the game I'm going to open things up for a maximum of 3 new players to join.

character creation rules are:

1. 400BPs
2. 50Karma to spend after build.
3. Further nuyen.gif 25,000 to spend after build
4. Sammy as a contact (2/3)
5. No AI's this time. Standard metahumans from the core book.

Given the active runners are currently mid way through a run there needs to be a solid hook as to why Sammy would get you involved and how.

Right now Sammy is concerned for the runners as things are not making too much sense to him from where he sits so he is looking for a couple more players to grant assistance to the existing team. He will personally offer you each 10K to do it as a favor for him (since the existing contract is with the actives and its up to them to split what ever they get with you at the end)

Submission deadline : week today (22nd).
Nightfalke
What character types do you have now, and are there any gaps that you want/need filled?

DireRadiant
Looks like
Trigger is playing Vamp the Elf Social/Combat
And Blackhat is a TM Scorch
BlackHat
Yes, we have a social/combat adept, and a technomancer. It has come up that the technomancer has an unfortunate flaw in that he does not have electronic-warfare (I overlooked it at chargen, and it cannot be defaulted to - but I'm rolling with it). I'll hope to spend karma getting it to 1, eventually, but even then, that's not a lot of dice. There is defiantly room for another matrix-suave character, particularly if he is passable at electronic warfare (a drone rigger, maybe). We haven't had a chance, yet, to see how we'll fare in combat, but I suspect that a dedicated street-sam type would be more than welcome (unless Vamp is way better with his sword than I expect). We also have no mages/shamans at this point (having lost two of them), so ANY sort of magical support would be great.

cndblank
I'm interested.

How about Kit, a half Japanese magician shadowrunner, that might also be half kitsune (done as a elven changling (with a small tail)).

Is he really half Kitsune? Who knows, but he is a powerful illusionists who the Kama will listen to. wink.gif Not to says there are not some powerful players that would like to take him apart to find out.

Or Keen a bio ware stealth samurai.

Love the game and bought it at Gencon when it first came out.

Proved that if you have a cool concept and top notch background material for a RPG, you don't even need a working combat system.

I've ran a decade long SR campaign and last year started up a 4th edition old school campaign based in 2054.

I have no problems posting a reply in under a 24 hour turn around. It won't always be a long post, but it will be something to keep the game moving.
Nightfalke
Rock on.

You need the two concepts that I have been itching to play the most. wink.gif Rigger and street sam.

I'll think something up and get back to you soon.
cndblank
Kit then.
Jimson
I'd be interested in playing. I started playing my first PbP mid-2009, but it died. I was really enjoying it, so given the opportunity to play another would be exciting.

Can you give a quick recap of what is going on, then I can come up with something?
zed
Sammy probably wouldn't give you a full account of the run since he only has snippets of information.

On the other hand Sammy is based on a RL friends dwarf rigger who has been around the block for the last 20 some years and got put into retirement recently. So, i decided to use him as a contact for the game, he knows the inside of a run, how they play out etc and is able to smell trouble when its coming. The to and fro questions from Vamp has raised a couple of flags, the fact he can no longer get hold of the Johnson has raised some flags and a bit of digging himself has raise even more alarm bells.

What he would brief you on is this:

1. There's a run already in effect. The team are thin on the ground and possibly getting in over their heads. This bit is supposition, but he did select them thinking they'd cope (at full strength)
2. The Johnson has gone AWOL and isn't responding to questions. Not always unusual but Sammy normally expects some response even a 'leave me alone'
3. The team have requested some heavy firepower.
4. He got a very quick hit on a supplier for the firepower. Quick enough to make him think something isnt right and that bit worries him the most.

So he's turning to you to go in and provide backup. He is ideally looking at sending additional combat, tech and magical backup to the team. You will likely get introduced after point 3 and 4 have resolved themselves though smile.gif
Jimson
Ok...I shouldn't have any problems coming up with something. What city are we running in? I don't want to assume its Seattle. rotate.gif I'm just trying to figure out knowledge skills and contacts, etc. that are appropriate for the setting.
zed
Running in New York.

BlackHat
Yet, IIRC, both of the current PCs are originally from Seattle. smile.gif

Crack, Data and Machine Sprites have EW skill. Machine Sprites, and optionally Courier Sprites can have Command CF. All you need to do is control a device that can Scan, and be able to compile sprites.
Jimson
Sorry, one more question. SR4, or SR4A rules?
Nightfalke
Do you have an email address to send char sheets to? Cause I really don't want to have to copy and paste this whole thing to the board. silly.gif
Foxx
If your still holding try outs, I would like to pitch a ork street sam for play.

Check out the first post of the OOC thread for this game.

Yes, Scorch is also unable to compile sprites (wild technomancer). smile.gif Another niche that might be fillable, if someone was so inclined.
Mister Juan
Still got room? I was in another game that recently went bust, so Ive got some time on my hands.
Id have a merc I could bring to the table.

Oh, the desire to play a HW/explosives expert.... but I'm going to have enough trouble keeping up with the games I'm already in I think.

*wanders off talking about rocket launchers and kilos of explosives*
Nightfalke
Street Sam character emailed.

exSaint
pls ignore.
Jimson
Emailed Troll Grenade Launching/Fisherman. If it doesn't fit, I can come up with something else.
ravensoracle
If there is still a slot open I would be interested. What hasn't been covered yet?
Mickle5125
I'm also willing to throw my hat into the ring, if there's an opening. If not, keep me in mind for the backup list.

Slots should be open until the 22nd, but there is probably going to be more interest than room in the game.
Mickle5125
I'm working on a Mr. Lucky/ new TM variation. only possible problem is the fact that he's really new to the shadows.

Basic backstory: He was a courier who specialized in discrete, confidential, and untraceable communications. (who would suspect the unaugmented person as having anything of value?) Unfortunately, on his last job(a month or two back), he ran into some trouble which forced him to Emerge as a Technomancer. Said emergence was highlighted by a burst of sprites being compiled, decrypting the data he was carrying, and throwing it all over the matrix. Needless to say, the client was pissed and proceeded to ruin his previous life in an effort to express said displeasure.
overcannon
I have a hand full of concepts that I would be more than interested in playing, so I'll be sending you an e-mail.
zed
We are used SR4a rules. Email might be covered but its zed@clanuk.co.uk

and i hadn't expected such a huge flood of interest smile.gif So were definately going to be oversubscribed, so ill talk to the active players as part of the process and see what they feel will also fit.

ravensoracle
I am working on a combat mage right now, possibly a psionic but not sure yet. still in the initial stages. Feel free to make any suggestions at this point if you are looking for something specific.
Glyph
I will put together a sammie who is straight-up muscle, a team player. Been a while since I played someone like that rather than my usual face types.
Foxx
Think i'm going to ditch. its an intersting game, but a lot of folks jumping on board

Quick update

i have plenty of submissions for ranged combat characters
I have a couple of magic based characters

So its likely one of each will be filling slots 3 and 4.

But im going to widen this to definately include a 5th slot. Ideally the group lack a rigger, perhaps a more close ranged combat specialist or something different (medic /support char of some kind) So theres still time though for those who want to submit a character.
Foxx
Mmmm, rigger. I might to pitch an idea to you after all.
ravensoracle
Just sent you a basic concept for a Close Combat Mage.
Mickle5125
Are there free contact points?
pbangarth
I would like to submit a non-traditional PC for consideration.

Just "Sammy" as a free contact.
Jimson
Oops, I included him as a contact with BP's. I'll adjust my character.
Mickle5125
SO, for the players currently in the game, are there specific rigger roles you need filled more than others? IE: Do you need a driver with a well-built car more than a bunch of drones? If you want the drones, would you rather a lot of guns or more spy-oriented drones?
BlackHat
I don't think there is anything we need particularly more than others. We were able to borrow a used Bulldog Step Van from a contact for this job, but should anything happen to it, we need to replace it. Other than being rigger-adapted, it is unmodified, and unexceptional. At the moment, the TM is driving, but he doesn't have the skills or control rig necessary to do anything more impressive than what the vehicle's pilot program could do on its own. (His dice pool is like 4).

As I mentioned before, it *would* be nice if the rigger had some Electronic Warfare skill. regardless of whether he's a drone-rigger or a vehicle rigger. Generally that is something that matters more to drone-riggers than vehicle-riggers, I think, but as long as you can put a few points there (so we can attempt the tests without defaulting) it will be a significant boost to the team's EW capabilities.
Mickle5125
Still working on the rigger. spending money's trickier than it looks. I'll get it done in the morning, if the decision's not made by then.

Yep, that's by far the most time consuming part... especially for techy chars. smile.gif

All

Firstly thanks to everyone for the hard work and efforts in sending over characters to me. Sadly not everyone can play so i get the task of choosing. So right now i have made my mind up on the first two slots. The last slot is going to take a little longer.

Congratulations to :

1. Dire Radiant
2. Jimson

Welcome to you both and i'm looking forward to getting you into the game sooner rather than later.

The last slot will be filled by Monday when ill start the process of bringing you into the game.
DireRadiant
Looking forward to playing.
Jimson
Thanks Zed, and thanks to the current team for letting me join you guys. Looking forward to playing!
zed
After some deliberation final slot is going to go to Foxx.

I will also be placing Mickle5125 on the top of the reserve list due to a couple of excellent characters that didnt quite fit in the end.

Foxx
Thank you kindly, ready to rawk when you are.
Mickle5125
Have fun, guys!
