Nanotechnology is growing by leaps and bounds, and this breakthrough is going to change a lot of our current technology.

Also, I read in another article that they can control the electrical properties of the graphene, making it either conductive, semi-conductive, or electrically resistant; which means they can theoretically make an object completely out of graphene.

Depending on which futurist you ask, we'd either have mature dry nanotech assemblers by 2072 or else we'd have all transcended in the Singularity by then. Mature nanotech, as currently envisaged, is such a game changer that I don't think Shadowrun's setting could survive it in anything like its present form. For Shadowrun to work we all have to assume that the Awakening, VITAS, Crashes 1.0-2.0, etc. retarded technological advance enough to keep the world at a level we'll likely get to by 2040.

If you want to see what happens when people who like Shadowrun want to up the ante on technology, see Eclipse Phase.
