My running team has several romantic relationships interwoven among members, and the hacker/rigger in the group wants to get in on the action by making some amateur trids out of the results and selling them (the rest of the team likes the idea).
Now, the Edit program is pretty flexible and I assume he can alter faces and otherwise protect individual identities, but I'm not sure if this would be an actual Artisan Skill check or just your everyday Computer check. I guess he'd need Artisan to make a well packaged video? It gets kinda fuzzy and I was hoping my friendly local DSer's can assist in figuring out the skills and such to be used.

Would it be reasonable to say that the saleability of the trideo product would be dependent on both an Artisan Skill check and a Computer Skill check?

I'm thinking Artisan+Intuition for actual quality of the footage, the computer+edit as a special required skill. (Each would be a separate extended test)

Speaking as Faraday's GM, I would like to say any help here would be VERY appreciated. Everyone in the team has a 10-hour Day Job quality - the porn thing is a big part of the party's shared story. I'm new to GMing, so I can use all the help I can get with stuff (like this) which isn't explicitly covered by the rules.

In my experience, it's important to remember that roleplaying is about telling stories and having fun, not playing exactly by the rules as written.
So as for me, don't worry about stuff being explicitly covered too much, just roll something appropriate and go on playing.

However, from a worldview standpoint, I wouldn't really imagine that trideo porn would be in any sort of demand over its far more extreme simsense/BTL counterpart, and I really can't imagine your team producing the kind of ultra-specialized total gonzo porn that would fill that market. If they did, then it surely wouldn't go unnoticed by the shady-ass porn barons who run that scene.

Still, as far as trideo porn, I imagine that NERPS commercials are trideo porn. Just live 3D replicas of full-on orgies with a banner that says "Buy NERPS! They're fucking good!"

Lets see, you'd have a Computer + Edit test to edit faces and protect identities. 0 hits might be black boxes, 1 hit might be blurred faces, 2 hits might be halfway decent edited in faces, 3+ hits would be completely unnoticed.

Artisan + Intuition to get good angles and such, basically knowing where you want to aim the camera and such.

And I think the people being filmed would likely have to make some kind of Artisan + intuition test to make whatever their doing interesting, avoid 'stage fright', stop looking at the camera, or look at it when they're supposed to, etc. I'm guessing they could get a teamwork test from the director as he/she gives stage directions.

You've all made very good points; thank you for that. I would say that not everyone would be into the BTL market; trideo porn might be less lucrative, but I imagine there's still a market. High-quality fetish porn should definitely have a niche in my opinion.

SIM is not only BTL. BTLs are Hot SIM. Cold SIM has good penetration across practically every demographic, and is noted as being a popular form of entertainment.

I'm not even sure how you'd get the idea that BTLs are the only form of entertainment that SIM offers.

BTLs can be done cold sim. In fact they were originally intended for use with only cold sim weren't they? And then people started removing safeties and such to make them work with hot sim. Could be wrong, don't feel like reading up on BTLs though. Or am I thinking simsense in general was modified to hot sim and BTLs? That makes more sense. Either way, I really doubt BTLs are going to dominate the market, if for no other reason than they are illegal. Most companies don't want to alienate a huge potential customer base by only producing illegal things.

And Trideos are still very popular despite simsense. I'd imagine that pornos would likely have a much higher market share in simsense (And BTLs of course) than trideo, but I doubt the trideo market would die completely. Among other things not everyone has a simsense rig.

Edit: Are we actually talking about poronos here? The OP was a little vague. I thought he was more talking about a sitcom/reality show type thing, hadn't even considered porn till someone else brought it up.

Yes, it is porn, I was just trying to be subtle about it. Primarily, it's a (relatively) handsome troll with a pretty good intimidation DP and a *very* charismatic and...ah...flexible elven woman doing the act with magical backup from a phantasm mage and the hacker doing the actual filming/editing.
The primary stage they use is the back of a tricked-out bulldog step-van with high amenities, a drop-down medical table, and hidden interior cameras. There are also a couple small drones that can basically act as a fly on the wall (or even the ceiling) to get tough angles as needed.
