Silver:
In Flip's best judgement, is this guy a ganger, a triad, or just some dude at the gym?
Callidus
Feb 18 2004, 01:39 PM
Okay sorry about the delay but hopefully I shouldn't be soo busy for a while.... yeah right *8-> Anyhoo I'll make the dice rolls when I get home but failing all else Greasy'll probably get lost in tinkering for about an hour anyhoo so... *8->
Silverspur_2020
Feb 18 2004, 01:46 PM
As far as your concerned ... he is just some guy that obviously works at the gym... no more, no less
Callidus
Feb 18 2004, 08:08 PM
Okay here's the rolls *8->
Gunnery B/R (remove first gun) : 17,7,5,4
Gunnery B/R (remove second gun) : 4,3,3,1
Gunnery B/R (attach first gun) : 5,4,4,1
Gunnery B/R (attach second gun) : 8,4,2,1
Oh and Ettiquette for the info from Slim (if applicable) : 3,2 (oops *8->)
Silverspur_2020
Feb 19 2004, 05:05 PM
Yeah thats fine with me about the gunnery rolls...
there is a problem with Ace though... he has no drone skills at all

so the whole thing about him using drones looks to go out the window
GunnerJ
Feb 19 2004, 10:58 PM
This is what I asked about before: does piloting the drones require a special skill, or would the equivalent vehichle skill apply? So would he be able to use a helicopter drone if he has helicopter piloting, a vector thrust drone if he has vector thrust aircraft, etc. At the time you seemed to agree with me, but maybe there was a break down in communication.
Anyway, I'm not as busy as before, but I was at a loss for anything signifigant to post, sicne I was mostly just tending the farm. Not that there's a problem with that, but just keeping an eye on things didn't seem to require any special IC actions.
EDIT: I just took a look at the SR3 Drone Rigger archtype: all his skills are normal vehichle skills, all of them exactly the same as the skills Ace has. There are no special "drone skills" listed.
Drain Brain
Feb 19 2004, 10:59 PM
I didn't think that the rules made distinctions on vehicle type in that way? Like, a wheeled drone is a car, a flying one is a plane? For the purposes of rigging, that is? And should it not default to something regarding the VCR? I could be losing my mind, of course...
Silverspur_2020
Feb 20 2004, 09:52 AM
Well I was having a look, and its set up the same way as a car or a bike, you have car, and then you have car b/r.... so for this you have drone and drone b/r with drone being the piloting skill.
Callidus
Feb 20 2004, 11:18 AM
AFAIK the rigger only needs the base skill to drive a drone.... ie rotor to pilot rotor drones..... there is a specialisation of each of the driving skills specially for drone called Remote hence why Greasy has Vector Thrust (Remote) 5/7 (I think) as a skill. Unfortuneately you don't get car b/r if you have car *8-< you have to buy them seperately although appartently if you can fix a jackrabbit you use the same skill to fix a steel lynx *8->

Boss, just thought I'd mention that Flip is waiting for any intel he gets from the dojo before he heads back to the farm so we can all pool our information, gleaned so far, over breakfast.

Feb 22 2004, 07:16 PM
any info coming back from Slim on the people I asked about?
Silverspur_2020
Feb 23 2004, 10:06 AM
He wont know anything new... he's not done too many dealings with them recently

Feb 23 2004, 01:37 PM
Ah well *8-> The info on the rest of the group was mostly a cover for the info request on the lady jane

youve been quiet for a while gunner... you still with us or are you just busy in RL?

Still with you. Has the "drone skill" issue been resolved?

I want to point out how difficult it was to resist the temptation for Flip to make a rude comment and get his arse shot for it...

Out of interest, since we're
working for the yakuza, would I be correct in assuming that "japanese looking" means "chinese looking" and that "yak ship" means "tong/triad ship?" Just a thought... don't want to end up chasing the wrong leads/whatever!

Feb 25 2004, 04:19 PM
I'm really sorry for not being more active, I've just been very busy. I'll put an IC post up now.
Silverspur_2020
Feb 25 2004, 09:02 PM
thats ok.... I just need to know your still playing, thats all! - I know what you mean though about being busy! thats why I sometimes go quiet for a couple of days a week!

Feb 26 2004, 01:30 PM
Just to clear up what Greasy is doing:
Sending the wheeled drone into the barn to recharge (can't remember if it's Electric or Gas, will check when I get home)
Landing the Condor drone (Albatross) and then breaking it down to transport on the bike. I'm pretty sure it'll fit if not I'll just get it to fly along behind us *8->
Rakshasa
Feb 26 2004, 05:01 PM
Greasy can ignore the crash helmet if that would muck up controlling the drone.
Callidus
Feb 26 2004, 05:08 PM
He'll use the crash helmet as if the drone doesn't fit on the bike he'll just get it to follow the bike... it's pilot and sensors should be good enough to handle that... failing that the data cable should be too big *8->

Feb 27 2004, 12:29 PM
I'm looking at AT MOST a rating 2 AOD transmitter. At 600xRating base price and with a SI of 2, that would be in the region of twenty four hundred... which is more than our little "group savings account" can handle. Flip will buy this with his own cash if need be and recoup the money from Kitao... hopefully!
I was thinking of asking about an OXSYS artificial gill too, but they are also too expensive, at 3250

so I think I'll just try to steal one - there's got to be some recreational diving company somewhere along the shoreline.
Also, I can't remember - I said I was checking whether all my gear was in with my supplier when I was on my way to the dojo, but I can't remember the answer. Either way, I believe I still have to go pick it up...

Feb 28 2004, 01:13 PM
To be honest Drain Brain... I have no idea what your talking about! but I have yet to look IC so that may answer a few questions.
and yes, your eqipment is ready.... has been for most of this mission so far!
Rakshasa
Feb 28 2004, 03:30 PM
Might be an idea for Bluebird to tell Greasy where to send his Albatross??
What about the Yellow flag - `Quarentine'
Silverspur_2020
Feb 29 2004, 12:13 PM
All quiet on the western front...
GunnerJ
Feb 29 2004, 06:17 PM
Ace is going to go to two places Bluebird specifies-- it could be anywhere really-- and at each one check to see if the van he spotted is there while doing soemthing else at the location. And he's definately going to keep an eye on the Roadmaster.

Otherwise I feel an invisibility spell coming on- at least I think that's what it is!!

No, Dave, that's just constipation...
Remember, guys, we only have to find out what and where this Lady Jane is - not steal it or blow it up or anything!!!!

In case it's important.... and I just remembered I might actually need to roll these things *8-> here's Greasy's perception test for the boat house:
Natural Int: 26 (!), 10, 9, 5, 4, 3
The sensors: 5,5,5,4
I believe get both as one roll for a jack in direct control rigger.... but will check
anyhoo bedtime for me cya'll tomorrow *8->

I feel like I should point out that if codec does go on that ship, and does beat the IC... he will alert the owner of the vessel that someone has been trying to get at the on board computer. So a shotgun may not be the most subtle course of action!
Mysterio
Mar 4 2004, 07:25 PM
Seeing the giant sign saying "YOU'RE GOING ABOUT THIS ALL WRONG" I guess codec will have to change some plans

So, the Cyber runner and the Sorceress are chicken - OK?
Silverspur_2020
Mar 5 2004, 10:28 AM
Its not that your about to get it all wrong... its just you were about to walk onto a boat which I had already told you was patrolled by grey ice... im just thinking of you and your deck!
Mysterio
Mar 5 2004, 11:44 AM
Not a problem, I should have thought it through better. Still curious to see how this all goes
Drain Brain
Mar 6 2004, 06:34 PM
Just lettin' y'all know - I'm still here and reading, I just don't feel the need to post anything right now - just chillin' at the farm watchin' Codec...
GunnerJ
Mar 7 2004, 12:12 AM
I'd like to note that since it would be sort of a waste of a post to make an in charater post describing Ace driving across town and then waiting to see if he sees anyone, that I'll just declare his actions here.
Also, I like the Gibson ref in the name Lady Jane.
Silverspur_2020
Mar 8 2004, 12:25 PM
Gunner, I dont know what you want Ace to do next... so I left it open for you to do a bit of creative writing if you want! you write what you want to happen, and do the rolls in the OCC thread and I will write up afterwards what happens regarding that suspect drone and van.
Mysterio- Again, I dont know what you want Codec to do next, but grey IC does attack the actual deck...
Callidus
Mar 8 2004, 01:53 PM
Just in passing before I make my next post, did Greasy have any luck getting a look through any doors/windows on the secured dock?
Silverspur_2020
Mar 9 2004, 12:01 AM
Not unless he wanted to make it a bit more obvious what he was doing... there are no skylights to the building and any windows either blurred plastic over the windows or were just too small.
Callidus
Mar 9 2004, 10:38 AM
Bummer *8-<, okay he'll fly it on a diagonal past the front door trying to make it look like he's either a delivery condor or a drone heading home for a recharge.... and if it all goes horribly wrong he taking it up and away asap *8->
Mysterio
Mar 9 2004, 02:19 PM
okay silly question, but, does the IC see me with the cloak on? Does it just know someone's there do to the disturbance in the files?
Silverspur_2020
Mar 9 2004, 08:34 PM
Due to the disruption to the files, I gave the IC another perception check, and it passed. The ship your (virtually) does have PLENTY of security. hence the decision.... feel free to appeal if you wanna quote anything out of the rule book at me... you know me, im open to such things!
Mysterio
Mar 10 2004, 01:28 PM
oh no, i wasn't opposing what was going on, it makes sense. I'm just trying to decide my next course of action without getting majorly fragged. It's all good!
I'm at school right now and gotta run, i will post IC later tonight or tomorrow, sorry about the delay
GunnerJ
Mar 10 2004, 04:13 PM
I promise to make an IC post tommorrow, but today I have to pack up and go home for my FOUR DAY SPRING BREAK WHOO MAYBE IT'D BE EASIER FOR ME TO JUST STAY AT SCHOOL.
Silverspur_2020
Mar 10 2004, 05:37 PM
