Yeah, sorry to see you go - seems like an interesting character you had there, too.

Congratulations, and good luck at your new position!

QUOTE (TinkerGnome)
Alicia Marks is the daughter of Geoffory Marks, the owner of a handful of bars and nightclubs in downtown and Tacoma (he doesn't own Fat Mike's, by the way). After a lot of data tracing, Syl figures out his brother is Carlos Marks, who has some apparent Seattle mafia connections, though the search doesn't turn up any specifics on those.

Novatech is a multinational corp. They have their fingers in most pies, and are big in technology. The educational software division is one of their smallest divisions in Seattle, and appears to be more of a "acid test" for young college grads than a profit making venture.

That's interesting. . . further refine the search to see if any of the bars and nightclubs Geoffory Marks owns have any Mafia connections like his brother.
TinkerGnome
Geoffory Marks is clean as a whistle as far as the search shows. He doesn't have any apparent mafia connections.
TinkerGnome
Hello? Anyone still here? We're still going...
Fu-Man Chu
Syl

Ok, time to dig a little more into Ms. Marks personal life. Syl sees if she can unearth some of the young woman's Matrix ID. Looking for her address, any Vehicle tags associated with her, as well as phone records (I know, this is duplicating Chip's work, but Syl's not aware of it yet), credstick usage, and any particular mention in the Matrix (ie. newspaper clippings, etc.)

Computer (6): 9, 5, 4, 3, 1, 1
snowRaven
Still here, eagerly awaiting any progress from the people at the club, so the team can join up again and decide how to proceed.

(Also have some possible searches pending, but they depend on what Syl found out, and my first search took 14 hours so... upsidedown.gif (I knew I should've gone for a reality filter to get that extra initiative dice...LoL))
Sphynx
Default ot Intelligence roll for Gang-Recognition roll:

Roll: 8, 4, 4, 2
TinkerGnome
Syl gets a lot of what Chip got, but nothing besides that or what was in the data packet.

Billy got some info IC wink.gif
Fu-Man Chu
Syl

Syl further cones down her search to try to see who owns the number at the other end of Alicia's calls on the 9th. Also, correlate the number with any previous times it's been dialed.

Computer 6: 10, 5, 4, 3, 1, 1

OOC: BTW, how do you determine the base amount of time and TN for searches?
TinkerGnome
I'm being pretty freeform with searchs. The tables are in Matrix, though. The calls go to about twenty different places, mostly in Asia and the pacific region, and appear to be to private residences. It certainly looks like the phone was stolen or cloned.
TinkerGnome
*poke poke poke*
snowRaven
Huh? Wha... Where's the fire? grinbig.gif

Going slow at the bar it seems. Chip has another avenue to check, but it's partly based on Syl's findings.

First:
General Search on the Marks' mafia connections and who there enemies are - specifically looking for asian crime syndicate rivalries, mainly Yakuza or Triads.

Computer (TN 2): 2, 4, 5, 10, 10
5 successes - All the juicy bits(?)

Then:
Simultaneous Specific Searches on Carlos Marks in LS Criminal Archives and the DMV to see what I can dig up in possible crimes he's been related to.

Criminal Archives - Computer (TN 4): 1, 2, 3, 4, 9
2 successes - basic data
DMV - Computer (TN 4): 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 (wooo a straight - what do I win???) grinbig.gif
2 successes - basic data

Okay - also, I'm going away over the weekend and will be back on monday the 24th.
TinkerGnome
Yeah, sorry Matrix guys wink.gif Mainly I was just getting the OOC back to where it could be found.

The the latest search, Chip turns up a wide variety of data on the Yak-Triad-Mafia cluster frag. Carlos's name comes up a few times, but no specific rivalries are noted. No luck linking him to specific crimes, either. He's either clean or he hasn't been caught yet.
Fu-Man Chu
(Sorry, I've been busy at work for the last week preparing to go on vacation - and this next week I'll actually be on vacation with ? net access. Please NPC Syl for me if necessary).

Syl will continue to search Alicia's phone records, saving all the information she finds to run a filter on later. She's going to go back to the previous week's worth of phone calls, trying to obtain the likely numbers that she made before the phone was stolen.

TinkerGnome
Okay, I'm moving it ahead a bit. Feel free to post now. If someone's character doesn't post by the end of the Memorial Day weekend, I'm going to have to NPC them. Right now we have 3 semi-active players and 2 inactive players and 1 player gone. This run is low on combat so I'll let whoever's left keep going.
Fu-Man Chu
Hmmm, I wonder if I'm a semi-active or a gone player cool.gif. . . j/k, I've got 5 min of net access so just stopping by to say I'll be back on Sunday. Ok, later!
TinkerGnome
Well, the decker characters are inactive but only because I've not given you anything to be active about wink.gif
Sphynx
I'm active (check daily) but won't be active from June 9th to 23rd as I visit the Americas for holiday.

Right now I'm just waiting to meet up with others at the table......

Sphynx
TinkerGnome
No problem, that's two of the semi-active players checking in wink.gif
snowRaven
Checking in, and posting (since I don't know when Memorial day is, being european and all upsidedown.gif )
Glyph
I have posted on the IC thread, and will continue to check it.
TinkerGnome
IC looks like it's going well, guys. When someone declares that the group is doing something either OCC or IC, we'll go with it.
Fu-Man Chu
Ok, I'm back! Any further info on that last search Syl did?
TinkerGnome
Nothing worth noting. I think you guys did a pretty thorough job on the Matrix front.
Fu-Man Chu
Okie, sounds good
TinkerGnome
Okay... who's still here? Fu-Man Chu obviously...
Glyph
I'm still here. I think we were all waiting for a reply from one last player before heading out to Glow City.
TinkerGnome
If you're waiting on Sphynx, that's probably a Bad Idea™. If I remember correctly, he's spending a sizable portion of June in the US and won't be online.
snowRaven
I'm still here, patiently waiting - I'm assuming we'll head out to Glow City then?
Glyph
Rent's Stealth test: 5, 4, 3, 2.

Perception: 9, 5, 4, 1.
Alertness (complementary skill): 15, 11, 5, 5, 3, 3.

Note: his silencer is not on his gun (he believes that if it comes down to gunfire, silence will be a moot point in the Barrens). It is currently loaded with gel rounds.
snowRaven
Chip's Stealth test: 8, 5, 3.

Perception: 8, 7, 4, 3, 1, 1.

He carries his sawed-off shotgun (loaded with shot rounds), the fichetti pistol and the telescoping staff and he has his electronics toolkit with him, as well as the sequencer and wire clippers.
TinkerGnome
How thorough a search are you guys making? Also, make perception rolls smile.gif
snowRaven
Okay - for searching the room:

Willpower: 2, 2, 1, 1 (to keep his stomach in check...not sure that's a very good job of it)

Perception: 8, 8, 4, 2, 1, 1

Medicine: 5, 4, 2 (for any forensic deductions of how he was killed, what metatype he was, gender, or other medical information useful about the killing)
TinkerGnome
It was a human male in his late twenties. The murder was performed with sharp instruments, though the weapon itself is not apparently in the room.

Under the torn mattress, you find a silver banded credstick.
Fu-Man Chu
OOC: Syl's back
snowRaven
Welcome back! upsidedown.gif And just in time, I was going to suggest Syl for checking out the credstick.
TinkerGnome
Heh, let me know when you do and I'll post the results wink.gif
Fu-Man Chu
Hmmm, not sure what type of roll Syl would need for this. . .
TinkerGnome
No roll necessary. You can't do much to it or with it, anyway.
Fu-Man Chu
Any reply from the kid?
Glyph
If the kid stops replying, Rent will probably try talking to him. He will only butt in if Syl seems unable to elicit any further conversation from the kid, though.
TinkerGnome
Ack, I totally missed the relevant posts. Sorry, guys. Poked it a bit now.
Fu-Man Chu
Do we have a guess at how long the body's been hanging from the wall decomposing?
Fu-Man Chu
Little bump and nudge cool.gif
TinkerGnome
Few days, I think.

Side note. If you don't get a reply from me in short order, poke me. I'm on travel and have a hard time keeping up, but if I get bumped enough I will wink.gif
Fu-Man Chu
Hey TG, do you have a map of the apartment complex we're in? As well as where the big o' trolls are coming in?

(And yes, this was also a poke poke, nudge nudge cool.gif
Fu-Man Chu
Double-tap cool.gif
TinkerGnome
No map, though I could draw one up. The building itself is oblong, about 10m by 30m with the door on one of the 10m sides. The entry is on a half floor between the bottom (a half basement, which is flooded) and the first floor above that. The trolls are coming across the street (standard street size) toward the door where they've spotted you guys.

Ah, hell, I bought Fractal Mapper for a reason. Check out the map here.

Trolls are in the T area (didn't pin down specific locations yet. You guys are just inside the building near the K (the kid's room). JC is Johnny's room. The door out the far side is barricaded. There are some boarded up windows in the rooms, as well.
Glyph
Rent's rolls:

Emotion Sense: 5 3 3 2

Perception: 5 4 3 1

What is the general appearance of these trolls? Grungy but no obvious weapons and slowly approaching, or packing heat? or holding melee weapons? Are they purposefully moving towards us? Are their intentions hostile? Etc.

If they seem to be threatening/hostile, Rent will draw his gun, holding his actions until they get within close range (unless they are packing firearms too, in which case he will try to find at least partial cover).
TinkerGnome
It's Glow City. They're somewhat lanky for trolls with pale skin and scraggly hair. Each of them is armed with at least a knife and pistol, and one of them even has a shotgun.

They look confident and curious about the PCs. Not overly hostile, but their confidence indicates that hostility may well be a possibility.
