I love shot guns, there is no getting away form it! The only problem is which one..... so many to chose from!
I have always gone for the Remington 990, I don't know why but I just like the sound of it. But the time has come to get A few more ..... being a weapon specialist you can't have enough (shot guns or otherwise).
The only problem is I can't choose, I am a combat monster I like to be in the thick of the action with the gun set on choke 3/4 for maximum damage. As you all know about the best, when it comes to guns etc. I thought I would throw it out and see what comes back!

The Franchi SPAS-22 is prety solid. Up to 4 in concealability, 10S and burstfire capability. It's also the only shotgun (i think) that comes with any rc, it's only one and it's from a folding stock, but still.
And it has an integral SL-2, a very solid shotgun if you ask me.

The SPAS-22 is basically the best shotgun in the game, and one of the best weapons in the game. It's solidly usefulw ith slugs and a devastastingly broken hand of god with a smartlink and choke. But since shotguns are egregiously fucked up in an already notoriously broken set of rules, they tend to not get so much attention here.

But if you're a Troll, the Enfield or the Defience makes a GREAT sidearm once you saw the stock off.

Fold the stock and a SPAS-22 is the size of a Predator.

Lessee now... For 2,350

you can get a SPAS-22 with cyber-choke, a rangefinder, a foregrip and a rating 4 Gas Vent. Whenever your target is at a range greater than 24 meters, up to 100 meters, you can fire 2 3-round bursts with no recoil and a total TN modifier from Smartlink + Rangefinder + Choke of -14, or -15 beyond 50 meters. If your TN before those modifiers is less than 16 or 17, you can simply adjust the choke (with a Free Action) so that you get the TN of 2 with the highest possible Power. Combine with Shotgun/SPAS-22-5/7 + Improved Ability: Shotgun-5 for a rocking good time!
Since it's fed from an internal magazine, though, it's probably a good idea to keep 2 with you at all times -- one loaded with shot, one with EX-Ex or APDS round if you can score them. Just in case the GM gets fed up with you instantly annihilating everything and either sends huge cybertrolls at you or starts to interpret the choke rules so that every, table, chair, pile of stationary, trash bin, small rock etc counts as a separate target and thus adds +1 DamRes dice to everyone behind it.

And who doesn't have a smartlink, right? Still, I think the one downside of the SPAS-22 is incredibly minor, especially when you'll be laying waste to all your enemies as the chosen hand of god. And since they're the size of pistols, just carry two or four with different loadings if you think it'll be a problem! My brain is upside down!

Saiga 12K. Just as good as the Franchi but with the extra advantage of being clip fed so you can change ammunition a lot faster. That and I just find it so much more aesthetically pleasing than the Franchi. Combine a SL2, FA mode and Ray's Burst Control Edge and things are
not pretty.

The Saiga 12K sucks because then you have to use Raygun's sensible choke rules, and then you don't get to be the right hand of god.

The Remington Streetsweeper's got character. And gives any PC an excuse to walk around with their pockets full of all sorts of unpleasantness. A street mage in a game of mine had fun with blasts of scrap metal, screws, and glass.
Which isn't to say it's my favorite, but I hate to just toss another body onto the Spas bandwagon, so I had to think of something else to say.

Hah, everyone knows that the true home of the Daewoo USAS 12 is Soldier of Fortune II.
In any case, one thing I don't like about SR is the lack of a basic non-sawed-off double barrel shotgun (i.e. boomstick) and the lack of a really slow pump action shotgun. I've houseruled both into existence. Lower power, but more panache. I think any character who uses a boomstick intead of a semiautomatic or fully automatic shotgun by choice automatically wins out in the coolness department.

Personally, I go with the Remington 990. Solid performer, no thrills, relatively cheap and disposable. Not to mention that famous "Ch-Chunk" sound of the pump. Scariest sound in the universe. Well, other than Clay Aiken singing.

This is easily solved by doing your firearms shopping at S-Mart. IIRC, in the great documentary, Army of Darkness, Ash fired at least six rounds from his double-barreled without reloading.
Remember, shop smart. Shop S-Mart!

For the Serbu Shorty, you said the foregrip had to be unfolded to cycle it. Is there some sort of internal mechanical reason, like a safety, 'cause otherwise it looks like you should be able to.

Hell when you factor in relative weight and cost a LMG with a gyro-mount becomes a much better investment for the vast majority of situations. When you start getting into that level you might as well add some range onto the package because you have a big sign saying "Call in the High Threat Response team to shoot me right now"
