Privateer specific campaign thoughts:
1. In order for this campaign to work, players cannot sit back and assume info will be spoonfed to them. There will be one mission assigned by your employers, OOCly to get everybody ised to the mechanics of a boarding operation. After that mission, you'll be on your own. The employers can still assign missions if you guys get at loose ends, but I much prefer it if you go hunting for ships on your own.
2. If you have Cyberpirates, naturally it'll come in handy. For basic info, although keep in mind we'll be playing in 2072/2073 (I haven't decided yet). If not, I'm sure it's available out there...Sort of. It's not required for the campaign though.
3. There'll be likely a few house rules as time goes on. I endeavor to keep to RAW as amended and errata'd and FAQ'd, but RAW doesn't cover a lot of things that may come up, and some rules are plainly inapplicable to a life at sea. Lifestyles, for instance, are a funny thing when you're living on a ship.
4. Google Earth is your friend. Even the free version (which is what I use) can do useful things.
Totally unrelated, I'm having a hell of a time coming up with a title for the campaign. Ideas welcome.

I have a TM I idea. But it needs soem GM imput on to iffy wordings of wildcard nanties. Basically can you have more that one in your system via nanohives. Though I'll be gimped slight due to availability rules.

Dumori: I've not posted chargen stuff yet. That'll come once we have a name for the campaign, so I can organize threads.

If it's a privateer game, I'm interested, though it'll turn out how much time I'll have for it. No specific char idea for now, probably wait for the other's chars, so I can see what's lacking.
Hm, Title: We be Cyberpirates Arghhh!!!!!!

Yes it is. I also made it a local meme. When the 3rd POTC movie was coming out I spread it around and now its just stuck there locally (as in as far as two citys a way a guy tells it me) The local shopping center even said it in relation to said movie. It's my fav joke I came up with for that reason alone. As lame it is but its still funny...

What's the poll leaning towards right now? Are we going with privateers? I would prefer a standard shadowrunning game though.

When you're stuck on the bus for nearly 2 FUCKING hours....Yeah, you have time to think up names.
Names which came to mind, merely as suggestions of varying quality:
"Steel ships, Iron Men" - a nod in homage to the old game "Wooden Ships and Iron Men"
"Anchors Aweigh"
"I'm Not Ishmael" - Kinda cheesy.
"In Neptune's Realm"
"Grog and Honor"
"Fouled Anchor"

As a rum fan "Grog and Honor" rings nicely
Digital Heroin

"Splice the Mainbrace" - Nautical order to issue a strong drink to the crew, for morale purposes.
"Crossing the Line" - A ceremonial hazing of those dirty sailors who are sailing across the Equator for the first time.
"Cold enough to freeze the balls of a brass monkey."
Ok, so that one's not suitable for a thread title, but it's my favorite nautical term.
And on the subject of nautical things, I'll be at sea for the next three weeks, but still able to access the 'tubes.
Two concepts for characters in a pirate setting:
- Mystic Adept Hougan, of Jamaican linage... Zobop ties; and
- A former UCAS Navy man, specialist in boardings, with an engineering background.

Dinner, some thinking time, etc. helps when trying to figure out what to name a campaign.
"In Neptune's Realm" is my personal favorite from the list I posted. It's short, distinct, and has the benefit of not coming up too often in search results.
"Grog and Honor" also gets my vote.
"Crossing the Line" is good, but the phrase plays badly with search results.
"Sandy Bottoms" isn't bad, but as this will more than likely be a surface campaign it seems a bit odd to use anything from submarines.

I'm slowly coming up with chargen guidelines. A quick and (I hope) non-controversial one: Automated chargen is like seat belts - not just a good idea, but in this case, the law. I really recommend DamienKnight's Excel sheet, which I think works with OpenOffice. You'll see why when I post the recruitment/chargen thread. You could do your chargen by hand, but it helps a lot if you do it with a chargen program that's SR4A compliant.
I'll pick a name for the campaign tonight no later than midnight EDT, and post the chargen guidelines in a new chargen thread before I go to bed.

Ah, hell.
GrimWulf, the fear of horrible singing has pushed me to pick a campaign name.
"In Neptune's Realm" it is, then.
Idly, does anybody know if they ever said who won the 2072 Presidential election in canon?

Any chance of a ruling on emotitoys (and perhaps empathy software)? Such as either banning them or limiting their effects to judge intentions only? As is I really dislike their implementation.
