There will be spoilers here. If you didn't want that, LEAVE.
Ok, so there's these Horrors, vicious demons that want to invade earth and if we get too much mana in one spot then it makes a mana spike which acts like a bridge that they can use to cross to our world. Normally this wouldn't happen for a long, long time, but apparently some evil people are really smart this age compared to previous ages.
So Dunkelzahn made this awesome magic focus thing called the Dragon's Heart then committed suicide and let his spirit get sucked into the astral plane. Once there he lost his memory and that spirit then called itself Lethe. Lethe got trapped inside a cyberzombie and became a gestalt entity. The very first Drake who thought he was just an adept (although it turned out that this Drake was also the very first Mystic Adept) took the Dragon's Heart to cyberzombie Lethe (who now called himself... I don't remember) and cyberzombie/dragon spirit then used that to turn back the horrors and smack down the mana spikes after the singing girl died that Harlequin had put in place to guard against the Horrors.
Then, some time later, some Dragon Spirit who is apparently Dunkelzahn comes flying out of the astral rift and calls itself Ghostwalker. What happened to the cyberzombie and the gestalt entity that was formed there? What happened to Billy? How did Dunkelzahn become Ghostwalker and why did he go from uber guardian person who's smacking down mana spikes to some undead dragon who's apparently slumming it in the UCAS and not really caring about anything?

You can use spoiler tags if you type spoiler and /spoiler in brackets [] before and after your text . Then it looks like this:

The writes decided that was stupid and killed that entire plotline dead.
[ Spoiler ]
Billy died during during the Crash 2.0, killed by a magical nuke.
Ghostwalker is Dunkie's Brother, not him.

As Matsci said. Plus:
[ Spoiler ]
Ghostwalker was trapped inside the Astral Plane of Halley's Comet or the passing of Halley's Comet weakened the "walls" of its prison, someone might put more light onto this.

[ Spoiler ]
Ghostwalker was trapped somewhere in the metaplanes, which is briefly mentioned in a novel (The Forever Drug, was it?). One can presume he may have been in some metaplanar prison which also contained the shedim. When Ghostwalker busted out, the shedim came with him. How Ghostwalker ended up there and what he may have been doing prior to being trapped there are unknown.

And then Ghostwalker came and took over Denver... but why?

[ Spoiler ]
Ghostwalker claims that Denver sits on an old lair of his. So he considers it his territory by previous ownership. There's also something about the Spirit of Denver (first mentioned in the Denver Boxed Set) that has his attention.
Now, one thing to know about Dunk's brother, who was known as Icewing in the Fourth World (Earthdawn) is that his mate died, but Icewing tried to preserve her spirit.

What's the point of labeling an entire thread as spoilers if people are just going to use spoiler tags? Save yourself some typing and just drop the info on the page. If someone doesn't want spoilers, they shouldn't be in this thread.
Dunkelzahn/Billy/whoever is totally dead? Magical nuke? That's kind of cheap. Oh well, I guess it would have been deus ex machina, although I don't see how that Ryan Mercury guy didn't already exemplify that.

Yeah, that whole storyline was pretty crazy, it's hard to pick single points of crazy out of it.

Mostly this is why I happily ignore the metaplot (at least the portion you find I the novels).

Also, Ghostwalker has some grudge with Aztlan or more probably by the fact that Aztlan's top leaders are involved in blood magic. It kicks them out of Denver and allows the CAS to take over their former territory.

I always liked the dragonheart saga. I can definitely see reasons for keeping the massive otherwordly menace...otherworldly; but Ryan Mercury, and Assets, Inc we're useful additions to the setting.
