I know that say... synaptic boosters clearly state that they cannot be combined with any other form of initiative booster, but what's wrong with a mage getting Synaptic Booster I, and then having the ability to boost it with magic to 2 or 3 extra passes in dire circumstances via spell? (never going over the maximum 4, of course)

the bonuses do not stack- apply only the higher bonus.
