Hey Jongk, this seems like it will be a light and fun game, any more room or are you full up?
JongWK
Mar 2 2004, 09:27 PM
Yes there is room for you. Let me know what you're thinking of.
For those who ask: assume the U-Dub has sports teams for standard NorthAm sports plus soccer, lacrosse and stickball, to name a few. Not necessarily good, but they have teams.

We ready to go? Who all do we have with confirmed characters?

Sorry about the wait, I was out in the field. I'll have mine in tonight, hopefully.
JongWK
Mar 4 2004, 05:05 PM
I'm waiting for Wailer, Shadow and Kevyn to send their characters.
Shadow
Mar 4 2004, 06:08 PM
OK heres my idea Jong, it took me some time to flesh it out....
A elf from Tir. She is dirt poor. She got a scholarship to U-dub for wining the Tir Biathlon competition when she was 17. She only keeps her scholar ship if she turns in a 3.5 or better. She also has to make 5 practices a week during the winter. The scholarship pays for school and housing and nothing else so she works 20 hours a week at the local riffle range. She has somewhat of a chip on her shoulder toward rich people who don't do anything with their money. She hasn't figured out what she wants her major to be. For now she is taking general studdies to get her AA.
Let me know if the concept is good before I move forward. If it is I can probably have a character for you today.
JongWK
Mar 4 2004, 06:55 PM
@ Wailer: Got your character and liked it. You're in, don't forget to fill in what's missing.
@ Shadow: Sounds cool. Was she sent to Seattle as a "reward" that also happens to send her away from Tir before she causes trouble?
Shadow
Mar 4 2004, 07:30 PM
Great, I'll send you the character and history today.
Shadow
Mar 4 2004, 08:38 PM
Character away!
JongWK
Mar 4 2004, 09:35 PM
Got it. 2 things:
1) The first 2 Edges are for Quickness, right? (one says CHR, but I somehow suspect it should be QCK...)
2) IIRC, Digital Heroin has already named its character Angel. Unless you both want to have similar named characters... (now, that would be cool, but you need to sort it out).
Everybody: This is a good time to say if you want to know any of the other PCs beforehand.

Daniel's a Jock, so he probably knows everyone, even if he has distain for most of them.
Shadow
Mar 4 2004, 10:22 PM
Doh!
Yeah the two edges are supposed to be Quick, sorry. As for the names.... Change her first name to Jessica.
She would know anyone who is into skiing or fencing.
Panzergeist
Mar 5 2004, 12:20 AM
I would know Daniel, since he's a jock and Acton is a drug dealer.
Digital Heroin
Mar 5 2004, 12:38 AM
And the insinuation is what, that all jocks do drugs?
Angel'd know people from class, and clubs. She might know of Acton, because raves and such of course are drug paradise, but she's clean herslef, so wouldn't have ever actually tried to meet him. She's probably know Jessica from classes, since she's also taking more general studies, of course that doesn't mean Jessica likes her. Angel does tend to wear chic clothes, and doesn't work for her money.

'Goatee' McBacchus (Which is just a nickname, I assure you) - Is 'that' guy on campus. He's been going to U-Dub for Seven years and while not a mover and shaker in the highest sense, is one of those guys known for getting things done. He's the John Belushi- type party animal, complete w/belonging to 'that' fraternity of trouble-makers and party gods, as well as being one of the more notorious members of the Lacrosse team.
Well connected both on-campus and in the area, he's definately a guy who can find stuff on the sly - but doesn't make a living off of it. He's well known, at least by reputation, by both the student body and the Faculty as well - So even if you choose not to know him, you'd definately recognize him (He's a Satyr) or more than likely have partied with him in the general vacinity (if you're into that scene).
While generally disliked by the more proper Frats, his house has a decent Rep with the exception of the trouble they stir up. They probably only do it to keep their charter, but they usually end up doing a lot of work with the local communities and non-profit agencies. Kind of neutral angels, in themselves.
If you'd like to have him as a Contact, Friend, Acquaintance, enemy, please just post it up here and PM me - We'll work out the details & I'm very easy going.

Peace,
Wailer

Just for that Panzer, Daniel definately doesnt know Acton, He's been clean since he left the streets, a major requirement on his scholarship. He'd probably know McBacchus, because he's a sports guy, and has what seems like a good sence of humor. He would also have at least met Jessica and Angel having gone to a good number of parties.
JongWK

So far:
Angel (Digital Heroin)
Acton (Panzergeist)
Daniel (Phelious Fogg)
McBacchus (Wailer)
Jessica (Shadow)
I'm thinking about starting with this group, probably during the weekend or Monday.

No problem.

Yeah, Jessica isn't really a 'party' girl. She is taking 18 credits, has to work 10 hours a week on her sport and then another 20 at her job (though most of that is on the weekend). She would probably know of anyone in a another sport, but she is just a freshman, so I doubt to many upper classman are eager to hang out with her. It's not like she isn't friendly, she is just focused. She doesn't have that great a sense of style for clothes, and while she is pretty, she doesn't work at it.
Wailer
Mar 5 2004, 05:16 PM
I have decided to designate Jessica as 'The Girl I drool over'. She's my Molly Ringwold and I'm her Judd (Nelson?) at the _beginning_ of Breakfast Club. I heartily apologize, Shadow, as I will undoubtedly be cramming my face full of powdered donut, then 'popping' it on some poor Frosh in an attempt to gain her notice.
Please let me know if she would have already called Lone Star and I'll have to keep 50m away.
(*Big Grin*)
Wailer out.
Wailer
Mar 5 2004, 05:23 PM
I'm also going to assume that I know Daniel fairly well, I'm sure that we've drank together as often as we've thrown stuff off of rooves and exchanged blows. I can see him slurring drunkenly that he'll squash me, and my reply that only if he can catch me being the big lug that he is, while I stumble backwards over some passed out Frosh that we'd been communally feeding tequila to all night.
I think that Angel, at the least, would be sick of seeing McBacchus everywhere (That's assuming that she doesn't like his company - though he's perfectly charming and agreeable). Even though he's some uncultured, rough and tumble Lacrosse playing Frat boy, refusing to grow up or to stop drinking ... He always seems to get into THE most respectable clubs! Even worse! He's like, buddy buddy with the manager or the bartender! That's like, totally, unfair!!
(*Bigger grin*)
Wailer out. Fer reals, yo.

Panzer, I Just hope the Acton's not the spoiled Corp brat that tries to get my Frat shut down. Lets talk about this before you get me kicked out of school and I have to go work at StufferShack. Okay? Promise? .... Oh, hey Jess, you lookin' ...

Ah, So. Anyway folks, this here is my first foray into the world of PBP Shadowrunning .. moderated at least. So any pointers on how things'll run would be greatly appreciated. Do's, don'ts, faux pas', etc. Also, I've noticed some games have players roll, and some don't. Will this one be player or gm rolled, and if it's player, do I just roll at home, or is there some sort of online automated thingamajiggie?
Anything else?

A couple of things from my vast (

) experience.
1. Don't tell other people how they feel when describing your character. Do your best to portray a mood or an idea, but don't just tell other people what they feel when looking at your character.
2. Try to distinguish between "talking" and
thinking.
3. If you have a long post use paragraph breaks.
4. When performing a skill or ability describe what your character does, and leave it up to the GM to say how it comes out.
6. Use of
bold can add emphasis to a word, as can
underline.7. Keep OOC in the OOC. If you have a question or something just post it in the OOC.
8. Turn off your signature! It breaks up the mood when reading the IC.
Now these are things I tell my players when running a game, Jong may be completely different. As for the dice roll thing, it really is up to the
gm. I tend to trust my players to roll there own dice and post the results up here. It's easier on me so I don't have to keep track of who has what skill and how much, and I think, it is funner for the players who built there character. I use the NSRCG dice roller to make things easy but your welcome to roll actual dice. It is up to
Jong though what we do. Hopefully dice will be involved.

I suggest following Shadow's tips. I'm new to PbP and I'll try to keep things fluid. Players will do their rolls, except for a few times when you shouldn't know the outcome.
I hope to start this evening, after I'm done with work and cook up something for the NSI. Good enough for you guys?

What exactly is it they want volunteers for? People to attend his funeral?
JongWK
Mar 10 2004, 05:27 PM
Yes. They're forming a delegation to represent the entire University at his funeral. You know: formal dressing, farewell speech, flower crown, due respect to his beloved ones, skip a few classes, etc.
Heh. I hope you weren't expecting such an opening.

Mar 11 2004, 06:34 AM
And here I thought it was going to be light-hearted (*grin*)
JongWK
Mar 11 2004, 09:57 PM
Why yes, I hope there's light-heartedness aplenty. Just remember this is still the Sixth World. There's nothing for free, not even a contact like Navarro (oh, but those who spent money on upgrading him may get a pleasant surprise afterwards

).
Like I said at the beginning, I'm adapting two adventures. This one's more of an investigation. The second one could put Scream-like movies to shame.

phelious fogg
Mar 12 2004, 06:57 PM
Not for Daniel, Dont know about anyone else...
Panzergeist
Mar 12 2004, 07:23 PM
I wear fine clothing, with my secure jacket over it. I have my predator concealed under the jacket, and am carrying 2 clips of regular ammo in addition to the one in it. I'm also carrying my cell phone and pocket secretary. I drive my GMC Bulldog to the funeral. I can carry up to 3 of you as passengers, or only 2 if Daniel is one of them.
