Street Samurai Idea I've had for a while that I really want to play, did a few changes, I had a few questions.
Do Audio and Vision Enhancements add a cumulative availability modifier? Example: Lowlight +4, Thermographic +6 Flarecomp +2, so the Availability would be +12 then?
Can Commlink be Optimized for Agent? I'm assuming yes this is what Unwired says
Optimization
This modification optimizes the device’s processor and components to enhance one particular program, applying a +1 dice
pool modifier for all tests using that software. Each device may only be optimized once.

Adiposis Negative Surge Quality gives -3 penalty to all physical activities so it's like having a -3 to agility (Penalty can be brought down to -1 with Slimworm and Dietware)

I have played something like that, in an Arcanis game. Kinda a cross between the most hedonistic ancient Roman senator you can think of, and a sumo wrestler.

Enormously massively obese psionic fist. Minor royal title, so he could get away with a lot of social gaffes like belching loudly in high society events. Had a personal mission to eat at least one of every possible culinary dish in the world.

I once showed up at a LARP for the game in a toga stuffed with pillows, cradling a bucket of Kentucky Fried Chicken, making totally pointless royal announcements whilst waving a chicken leg.

Of course, me being me, he was also a majorly min-maxed martial artist. You do not want to experience his flying butt scissors.

He has blubber and adiposis, both SURGE qualities, so even with some 'ware to counter some of the effects of the latter, he will still look fat. And the whole point of the character is to have a quick, nimble character who doesn't look like it. I like this version of the character much better than the first one, which had some rules issues.

But i have to agree: Fat guys CAN have a pretty high agility and reaction times, but there is a limit (for normal humans without any high-tech or magical enhancements i guess). 5 Natural is too much for my taste, 4 i could stomach *g*. Oh, and for such a high level of training he doesn't have the matching strength.

All that weight just slows you down, no matter how trained you are. But hey, he isn't THAT fat, i guess. 190 KG for 1.90 height is excessive, yes. But not enough to get into "own zip-code territory".

Nothing says you can't be obese and have a Quickness/Reaction of 5. When I weighed over 250 lbs and looked like a marshmallow, I was routinely outquicking black belts. And sumo wrestlers are known for their speed. Being big does not mean you have to be slow.

I'm over 300 lbs and I'm pretty damn fast in terms of reaction and motor control. I can also run fairly quick sprints comparatively speaking. I can probably out-type any of you, I can break down a chicken or tenderloin very fast, I have more problems with stopping myself from catching stuff that's dropping (like heavy cans or knives) than not catching them, and I'm a pretty good ping-pong/foosball/air hockey/video game player. All of those point to good reflex and agility scores.

You'll also see that a lot in guys that do manual labor but don't do specific training for muscle sculpting or watch their diets. Construction workers have to be able to move FAST when something falls or goes wrong. Bikers have to react quickly both on their bikes and in a bar fight. I've personally known a couple of skinheads that are the same size I am but who are very fast and very strong, even though they look as much like couch potatoes as I do.

As was said above, sumo wrestlers are quick. And look at (American) football players. Some of those guys are routinely 300-350, and scary fast. But I would think that the char would need a STR score above average to match this and all.

I learned to never judge someone by how they look from my days growing up in the biker culture. That scrawny guy and that fat dude, they could be the toughest mothers ever to grace $Deity's Earth... While the muscular guy could easily be a wimp. And vice versa.

I prefer to give him the Segway Terrier, Cyclops or Revolution.

I am envisioning this large large guy on a tiny tiny bike.

Back in SR3, I had learned the value of buying each and every character a car, even if it was an unmodified hunk of junk. Unfortunately for my million-nuyen street sam, by the time I got done equipping and arming him, all I had left was enough to buy a subcompact. Troll-modified, of course, but still a subcompact. We always described it as one of those clown cars, where the guy on stilts could come unfolding out of the front seat.

i usually describe the troll modifications to be done by my troll ripping out the front seat for space like hightower did in that one scene in police academy like this ^^

How does he deal with the head space issue? Hightower doesn't have horns.
