Or if you'd prefer, a dwarf adept.

The reason I asked about the trid pirate was because you said you "hate deckers," so I wouldn't be that surprised if you hated similar types of characters.
Is it safe to assume that this will be a combat-heavy game?

Questions were asked about availability... for the new sheets I;ve asked for, here goes...
For most things, I would suggest just subtracting the level of contact you are using and half of any applicable skills value. You can use 1 contact, Ettiquette or Negotiation, and one or more applicable knowledge skills. If you want to buy damaged weapons, you can also subtract half your B/R skill and risk it failing at some point.
Just make sure to note how you are getting your rare items. Just don't go overboard people.

Well, since Issy is the security wiz, I'm sure you've invested in high rating sequencers and maglock passkeys, right?
How about stuff to fool the biometric security devices?
What about explosives/demo...is Issy any good with that?
Do you have a portable ECM Jammer, possibly with a portable commo suite?
You know, it might be a good idea to invest in an RCD just so you can do a little EW if we need it...ya never know when a little MIJI might come in handy. Of course, if we get a bona-fide rigger, you won't have to worry about that.
What about surveillance stuff...shotgun/laser mics, AOD tracking signals, BattleTac stuff, trideo recorders, etc.
Then there's always the security counter-measures like white noise generators, bug scanners, etc.
Does your character have or have access to an Electronics Shop? The 45K for one would be a pretty good investment.
That's all that I can think of for now...although you probably have all of those bases covered already.

That should certainly work, but Sequencers and Passkeys save time. Base 10 seconds/successes is way faster than base 30 seconds/successes. I still think relying on your Electronics skill is a better way to go most of the time, but the hardware is handy to have if we are in a big hurry. Also, with Maglock Passkeys you don't have to crack the case. Another time saver.

Yeah, circa page 102. I have it at home if you need me to get the rules together for you.

That's cool. We can wait for a rigger if you want. However, if we don't get one, it would be good to have Issy cover that angle. If you want, I can send you a text file that I put together...it's a quick breakdown of how to do EW with an RCD. I put it together for a friend of mine who wanted to start playing a rigger. It summarizes a lot of the rules and puts them all in one spot. Just let me know and I can send it to you.
And you know, if you have a lot of capital left over, we can look into acquiring whatever we may need once we get our first mission. Evan is also going to have roughly 90K in starting capital, so we should be able to cover any gear needs.

Mar 29 2004, 09:22 PM
Shock:
Yeah, 90K for a rating 3 passkey is a bit steep. I suppose we can just roll with your skill for now.
And as for the RCD stuff, you don't need a datajack. In fact, you can Captain's Chair drones without a DJ or VCR. Basically, you'd be using the RCD a an electronic warfare device...just make sure it has a display screen.
And as for the 90K, that is a LOT of money left over...considering that Evan can pay all of his expenses for the next 30 months with it.
Shadow:
Don't worry, dude. I'm sure your cash was well spent. Although you may want to make sure you have at least a few grand in spending money...ya never know when it comes in handy.

Yeah I have a couple of grand in the bank. I bought a permanent lifestyle which is steep, but I felt it was worth it. Along with a safe house, extra armor, another vehicle, upgraded my contacts, etc. I revamped my equipment, that ran me about 400k as well. The funny thing is when I originally put her together I only had 200k in resources. I spent twice that just on her new equipment

Shadow
Mar 29 2004, 10:09 PM
I think Shock is talking about a Ruthium polymer cloak (may have spelled it wrong) depending on how many sensors it has in it, it can give up to a +12 hide bonus.
There are some drawbacks though. Like a 'cloak of invisibility' it does not hide sound or smell. Nor can the user move very fast while using it.
I have three players in a game right now who all use it and I have ran into some issues with it. As long as you use a little common sense it should work ok.

What kind of info where you looking for?
She's six feet tall and an elf. Goes by the handle Raven. She has black hair and dark blue eyes. She is athletic and good looking, but she seems to not realize it. She is somewhat easy to anger, a little haunted and very driven. She doesn't make friends easily, and the ones she has she has a hard time keeping. In classes she is labeled as the 'weird' girl. In her sport, Biathlon, she is the best at UW. Unfortunately, she did not make the 62 Olympics ans she has serious doubts if she will even try for the '66. She likes the money and adventure of shadowrunning. She enjoys her role as the Longriffle, and as the back up Sam of any team she is on.
She is unlikely to form personal relationships with her co-workers, though Issy may be an exception. Raven likes to keep her worlds separate. At school, she just wants to be at school. At work, she just wants to be at work and not think about anything else. If you have been to her home it is most likely her safe house she keeps south of Westlake center.
Emotionally she seems cold and distant. If there was a guy she was interested no one would ever know it, least of all her. The few emotions she seems capable of expressing are anger and bitterness. Oh yeah, don't get on her bad side, she has a mean temper.
That's about all I can think of for now, hope this is what you were looking for, if not let me know.
Shockwave_IIc
Mar 30 2004, 04:24 AM
So you would be the group face then

Cool like it loads, ahh everyone wants to be Issy's friend, which is cool!
Seems like i might be the Face, Stealth/ Intrusion person, And maybe (if i can find the right balance of equipment, looking dodgy at minute) The Electronic warfair person as well... Any more hats?
Shadow
Mar 30 2004, 04:45 AM
Well I said maybe. If Raven interacted with her at school she would be forced to form a relationship. More than likely she would just wave or something.
Raven is definitely not the person to be the face, she has somewhat of a bad reputation because of her temper. She clocked a johnson who made an inappropriate gesture to her.
Having said that, she can get her hands on legal ammo and guns pretty easy. Let her know if you need any.
TheOneRonin
Mar 30 2004, 01:39 PM
Hehe...not only does Raven make a great "Face", but she can be the team's expert at sarcasm.
So she's a bit anti-social...does she at least play well with others? Is she going to be a reliable part of the team? Does she take orders well, or does she hate being told what to do?
If she's a crack-shot and backup sammy, she'll probably be working really closely with Evan. He's easy to get along with, but has no problem keeping things strictly business.
So we have another 6' tall girl...jeeze, if I wasn't playing a 6'5" Ork, I'd have a severe size complex.
BTW, my sammy is Evan Wolniczeck, or just "Wall" for those who can't pronounce his last name. He's a Ork, but has the human looking edge...he's a bit taller than the average Ork and looks like he weighs about 320+ lbs. He's got a sharp chin and nose, VERY faint asian features, and when he gets pissed off, he starts cursing in Russian.

I think the GM was talking about the info that he PMed everyone who had already submitted new characters. He doesn't want us giving THAT info away to anyone who hasn't sumbitted a character yet.
As for us talking about our characters, the GM already said he was fine with us knowing each other, at least on a professional basis. If we get the intro's out of the way here, we won't have to waste time on that in the IC thread. In fact, once we get the whole team figured out, we can start coming up with some SOP stuff...and a team always works better if everyone in it knows what everyone else is good at.

computer b/r 6
electronics b/r 6

My character is balanced as a healer and a combat mage. He is antisocial as well. Acid Stream and Physical Mask are spells I threw in for fun

. He knows Biotech and Heal 5, so if you get wounded, he can help, provided he isn't mad at you. Got an ammo shop in his house too. ARGH!! THAT'S what I could have spent my last 10 =Y= on!
Biomage is a male Amerindian human. He is approximately 6’6” tall and weighs 201 lbs (2m, 91kg). He is tall and skinny. His head is shaved clean. He has brown eyes and tanned skin. His hair would be black if he let it grow. He tends to stand somewhat stooped, and he is a snappy dresser; he always wears expensive and professional clothing, even when he isn’t working. Biomage has large burn scars on his torso. His right arm is an obvious fully cybered replacement. Someone meeting him for the first time might think he has a problem, since his expression is usually serious.
Biomage’s personality has changed since his accident. He doesn’t care about the rules or about what is necessarily right or wrong. Everyone makes their own rules in his view; the megacorps, the street gangs, Lonestar… All that matters is who comes out on top in the end. He does whatever he thinks will work best in each situation, regardless of whether it might run contrary to the code of ethics he was raised with or what is generally acceptable behavior.
