Hey all. I just noticed that any sort of armor is missing from the concealability table on SR4a311. I suppose without a mention it comes down to GM decision/common sense, but how concealable are the different pieces of armor? Does anyone have any good houserules/assigned ratings?

I'd expect that Full Body / Military / Swat / Armored Jacket (etc. etc. etc.) would be obvious. But what about things like light and heavy armored clothing, and the armored vest?

The description in sr4a327 states that the armored vest is worn 'without displaying any bulk'. Thank you for nothing catalyst.

It's a good question, but you're right: GM/common sense. Armor suits are all obvious, armored vest is invisible under clothing, etc. Armored clothing is just clothing. PPP is either obvious or (magically, stupidly) invisible.

Armoured Jackets look like regular jackets for the most part, but there's something about them that tells you they're not from Berwick's line.

But what does it matter anyhow, everyone always gets the Lined Coat. Which is a Armoured Duster!

Yep. The fluff descriptions are pretty solid in this regard. Most armors "offer tremendous damage resistance without slowing the wearer down or drawing too much attention." Armored clothing is "indistinguishable from regular clothing." Armor jacket "offers good protection without catching too much attention, but don’t think of wearing it to a dinner party."

On the other hand, "full body armor is certain to draw attention."

You could work up Conceal numbers if you wanted, but I'm pretty okay with 3 categories: Obvious, Invisible, and 'Medium'.

Well a possession spirit with regeneration slowly health the vessel so it eventually takes on the semblance of life. A few years inside a t-rex skull... but no really, there is nothing left in the bones that once was in a dinosaur. Minerals slowly take the place of stuff leaching out of the bones till nothing is left but a shape.

This topic is now about getting concealable armor for a zombie dinosaur.

A zombie dinausor can take abuse à live one wouldn't - hence an easy solution : skin it, glue/nail/sew/whatever the armor, then put the skin back over the armor.

Of course if you're working with a skeleton, it's harder - though if you go for the 'stuffed animal' route to make it looks more alive, there's plenty of room to put armor or other goodies there. Heck, mount a flamethrower into the mouth with the tanks in the rib cage for that dragon style !

So, in essence, there's obvious armour, semi-obvious armour, discrete armour, and then there's Harry Dresden Riding Sue while Butters is drumming along in his One-Man Polka Outfit to keep the Zombie T-Rex under control.

He's not actually writing Pokemon books. He wrote a best-selling series based on a bet that uses the Lost Roman Legion and Pokemon as it's underlying ideas but is so much better than the two. I just watched this video a few minutes ago. In it he explains the background for Codex Alera.

Aaaannnnddd lets not forget that even discreet armour has a chance to be spotted, it's just all extra hard. Even if the book says that an armor-vest can be worn 'without displaying any bulk' that doesn't mean it's fragging invisible.

It worked. And everyone knew where and what I was talking about because they would spawn where the signs could be seen.

Back to armour. Unless they're Wageslaves telecommuting, most John and Jane Q. Wageslave will have a few sets of Armoured Clothing for travel to, and from, work. The news is full of random shootings and fear and so on, it just makes sense. They might even have a Colt Asp hidden in their briefcase if they take public transportation (Think the guy in Predator II on the subway.). If they are telecommuters, they likely have an army-surplus armoured jacket or some such they wear to go shopping. Some might have some high-end, low-life amoured clothing for clubbing (Steampunk Fashion goes here.), on the one-day a month they get to blow off steam.
