Bad Blood
Bonus: 5 to 10 BP

Someone in the character's past just keeps cropping up, and not in a good way. The character recieves constant calls, visits, or other irritations from someone they know and cant seem to shake. It could be a jealous or obsessed ex, an angry parent, a trouble-making sibling, a one-night-stand, a gold-digger, or dead-beat friend of a friend. The character's attempts to get rid of this person or hide themselves always seem to fail and their influence is often felt at the most inconvenient times.

For 5 BP, this person is an irritant only occasionally and come up once every few months in a way that doesn't seriously disrupt the character's business but still proves annoying and stressful. They might call during a run or show up at the character's home and make a scene or sign the character up for long lists of spam messages on their commlink.

For 10 BP, this person is a constant thorn and makes their presence known frequently and in very disruptive ways. They might hack their way into the character's commlink in the middle of a run to demand to speak with them, steal or deface their car, or barge in on them during a meeting.

I have a character with a crazy ex but there wasn't anything really to reflect that in the qualities and I feel like this works well.

The ENEMY negative quality can cover some of this

I thought of that, but it seems to me that Enemy is someone who is out to destroy you or kill you whereas Bad Blood is someone who is out to make your life miserable.

Not necessarily. Enemy can be anybody who wants to stop you, from a rival who gets in your way or a dysfunctional and sadistic paramour all the way to somebody who wants you dead. The rating determines how often they interfere. Technically, you could even have an obsessed groupie who follows you and posts your exploits on the matrix, not realizing just how BAD that is for you.

Thisīd be a Positive Quality in LA...

I had a Chilean friend explain the P2.0 pun to me. I hate LA more now.

I'd be intrigued, but it's not like I need more reasons to avoid LA.

Apparently it sorta-kinda translates to "Penis".

He didn't find it funny either. Also swore about Mexicans for awhile.

Who doesn't?

The great thing is that I don't really know what you're talking about. I'd never heard about this thing. Good to know, though.

I like the idea behind the negative quality, but I feel like it's either Enemy or, at the outside, an expansion on the idea of Enemy. Fun, though.

When I think of "Bad Blood" between people it isn't really open warfare, even if it's limited to annoyances. I tend to think of general belligerence when dealing with the other party, hostility, and so forth.

What you describe is an Enemy, at least to me. The ones that just try to shoot you tend to die quite easily. But the ones that cut the brakes on your car, sign your SIN up (even a fake one) with various embarrassing services, and so on will make your life hell. But they're still enemies. (Once, I signed up someone's email address-back when these were new fangled things-to several pr0n sites that were of a different orientation than he. He received emails daily and since he didn't know how to delete them, he kept them in his inbox till his parents chanced upon them. They had all been marked as 'read' too... Alas, youth. Anyways.)

Bad Blood could be a general negative modifier for a specific set of a shadowrunner's existence. Perhaps he has had bad dealings with some pawnbrokers, whether it's his fault or not, so this group won't buy his stuff and the other guys are less likely to buy from him.

Less overt but still antagonistic.

Thanks, but no. You're a bit young for me. Bloody kids and their internet pornmongering... Back in my day we used to have to work at getting porn on the Internet! No camwhores for us, nooooooooooooo, we had to deal with ASCII Fetish Art! AND WE LIKED IT! nyahnyah.gif

...

Would that make Xahn and I having the negative quality of "Bad Blood" for each other? nyahnyah.gif

We're Loyalty 1 Contacts.
QUOTE
Just Biz. The character and contact have a purely mercenary relationship. Interactions are
based solely on economics. They may not even like each other, and will not offer any sort of
preferential treatment.

Emphasis mine. biggrin.gif

Surprised anyone wants me as a contact...

Who wouldn't want a demolitions and firearms guy as a contact?
He's good for those times when you just can't get through the security doors

Theory. Only theory.

You don't want the guy that only knows about explosives because folks he knew worked in a mine. You want the guys that actually worked WITH the explosive.

And, hell, I can't even sight down a rifle...

Canray knows how to mentally torture people without regret. That's a unique skill that can be... useful.

Yeah, guess who I used for practice.

Lots of regret. Back to the new quality.

Probably not anyone on here. With the levels of pure depravity gamers are capable of, I think we might be immune to mental torture (Up to, and sometimes including Bubba the Love Troll)

Think this has any correlation with those who would perform metal torture were brought up on ASCII porn (and liked it!) while we were raised on goatse.cx and rotten.com?

Nope, no, never.

You want the guy who's a structural engineer and a demolitions expert.

1. You want what is IN the house to stay intact
2. You want the stuff In the house to STAY in the house
3. You DONT want the house to collapse while you are in it.
CanRay
If you're used to doing Demo work in a mine, doing it in a building that's actually designed to stay upright in some semblance of a manner is easy.

Mines are held together with beams and really thick chicken wire in some places...
