Full Version: Recoil compensation for vehicle weapon mounts?

Hey all

Pretty sure there is a rule somewhere that says a vehicle weapon mounts gives you recoil compensation = vehicle body... but where does it actually say that?

Cheers

It sounds like an optional rule, but it does make sense.
Udoshi
it is the Most Common houserule.

The alternative is that vehicles never suffer recoil at all.

Thanks very much all - esp DD !

Its unadviseable, i once saw a GM coming up with minigun armed dobermans which wasnt really funny anymore. Flyspys with full auto snipers aint funny too - except you are running the silly.gif way of course.

Any GM that allows a Fly Spy to mount a Sniper Rifle is, if you will pardon my language, an Idiot. Just Saying...
Need a Body of 3+ to mount a Weapon Mount. And even so, you do not let a drone that weighs less than a fraction of a pound mount a weapon that weighs in at/between 8-30 Pounds (depending upon weapon). Ludicrous Indeed.

Don't have an issue with the Dobermans mounting a Minigun (It has a Body 3 after all, so it can sport the Weapon Mount)

I just figured out that as per Errata this rule rule is absolute nonsense since “weapon mount with HMG on a compact drone with a body rating of 3 (humansized)” is absolutely impossible. For an HMG you need a reinforced mount, which counts as two regular mounts. You can install one mount per 3 points of BOD (round Up). It even was nonsense before the erratum. Anything with BOD 2 or less is a micro or mini drone. On those a standard modification (which the weapon mount is) cannot be installed. silly.gif

On the other hand even if you apply the RC=BOD across the board, recoil compensation rarely is a problem. You need 9 (11 if you want to run) points of RC to be able to shoot without penalty. Special weapons (HV, Minigun) may require more though. With the RC from BOD you only need 5-6 points of RC to be installed in the mounted weapon. The Ingram White Knight comes with RC 5 right off the shelf.

Yup chameleon coated FlySpies or Dalmatians with FA Barrets and 250 rounds of ammo are not much fun, but cheap (37100¥). BTW is a sniper rifle especially the Barret larger than an LMG?

Technically, The Barret is about the same size and weight as an MMG (It is a bit longer than the M60, and weighs in about as much as the MG (with the heavy barrel) if the M60 is loaded with a belt of ammo). It is about 2.5 times heavier than an LMG (M249 SAW), and about twice (maybe a bit more) as long. The Barret is a heavy, and fairly unweildy SOB, for a Sniper Rifle, but not on the scale of an HMG in size... smile.gif

Many Barretts are considerably larger than most LMGs, yes.

Assuming we use the definition of "LMGs fire assault rifle caliber ammo, MMGs fire battle rifle caliber ammo, and HMGs fire .50 caliber BMG class ammo."

Barrett Light Fifty vs. M249 SAW

37100Y are cheap?? eek.gif
At our table we use to get 8k-14k Y per run. Stuff like breaking into a software studio and silently exchange their backups, escort johnson from point x to point y etc. How much do you tend to get for what kind of runs?
My char lost around 60k-70k Y last run. A complete modded and upsensored delivery truck with several reconnisance drones and other equipment and have to start somewhat from scratch on.
At least the link was saved so she still can hack stuff.
Acquisition of public and corporate replacement drones is still in planning.

Cheap in the Corps' budget.
CanRay
Cheap when you don't pay for it in the first place. biggrin.gif Corps' have a big budget. Shadowrunners break into Corps and steal stuff, might as well lift a few items on your "I want" list as well, neh?

Acquiring stuff isnt that hard with a hacker, proper electronix equiment and an EMP grenade, i was merely questioning the relation of Dakka Dakka's runner to money but well, i corp measures its just peanuts.
Or every cent counts you can put it both ways.
Dakka Dakka
Of course also about 2/3 of the price is the modded Barret. If you restrict yourself to a White Knight you can get the setup for a lot cheaper, more RC too.
CanRay
Yeah, but then you can't mod the Barret for Full-Auto and get "Moar Dakka Dakka". biggrin.gif

Sorry, couldn't help it.
